This is a common City tactic. If you sue the City or are victimized by the City, they will paint you to be a horrible person. If you are raped by a city employee, the city attorney will smear you and call you a prostitute, drug addict, alcoholic. A friend of mine worked for the City and told me that is definitely their tactic. They even threaten the lawyers involved. If you are a victim and still live in the city, they'll find a way to make your life a living hell.

I listened to Mr. Shaw on John & Ken and the frustration in his voice brought me to tears. For everyone who complains that fathers are not raising their sons, here is a man who did EVERYTHING right. To attack the victim is the job of the DEFENSE attorney, not the DA.

Mr. Shaw mentioned a rally on Saturday to honor his son. We need more details on this so that we can show up and support this man and his family. He is not alone in his fight.

Wet Spot you idiot you are a liar. Henisee never told Mr. Shaw these things. This is something made up by Higby and Walter Moore to cause trouble.

But the D A Cooley, has claimed he's NOT influenced by anything the city does, and in fact has set himself up as a counterpoint to the Mayor and his City Hall team.

So in a way this is good, because it's forcing a REPUBLICAN, conservative like Cooley to come out and say what he thinks on the Shaw case, not play politics and make like he's the good cop to the bad cop of the City Hall and Mayor. (Being Good cop to idiot Rocky is another matter, since Rocky is just plain a fool who's made the office and city a national laughingstock, from losing every case -- latest today the Pico/Olympic plan against a lame-ass bunch of NIMBYs -- from LAFD/LAPD discrimination claims, to handing the keys of the city over to greedy, litigious ClearChannel/ CBS who want to paper even tony parts of the city with their ugly, giant, LED billboards.)

So let's see what Cooley does now. Will he have the guts to make a stand for enforcing ICE laws and working with the feds, or has he been self-serving hot air, never challenged, out of mind/ sight? (He hasn't done anything about the crooks in Bell/Cudahy, that sanctuary city full of criminals.)

"Boo" for this scoop. Mr. Shaw was on Kevin James' radio show Thursday night and this was what he had decided after Dep. D.A. went through her version of the case. He said he did not want her on the case during that radio appearance, and this was just reiterated today.

McIntyre will interview Mr. Shaw tomorrow in a.m. on KABC.

The D.A. is trying to posture the case as a death motivated by gang rivalry, not simply due to a difference in race. They should prosecute as a "Hate" crime, but I'd say that's not happening since they wanted Mr. Shaw to back off the racial basis for the crime. You don't have anyone of authority with (a.) desire for justice, and (2.) enough job security to push that proscution.

Politically, it's looking like they want to put MORE distance between this case and any hint of racial motivation, so any aggressive enforcement of the law and prosecution of the crime is going to be MIA here.

The motive angle revealed by the DA is Jamiel II looked like he was gang-affiliated because had a back pack with the color red showing! He had a Spider Man back pack- on his back; Espinoza approached from front, likely did not even see it.

And I don't know that gangbangers are toting around their books and supplies on the weekend and in backpacks.

So is DA saying Jamiel "asked for it?" or that what you wear can be the cause of crime, not the criminal?

If so, ladies, watch the alluring clothes you choose to wear or you may have a rapist or date-rapist fall victim to your wardrobe missteps. So damn you.

Selling the Shaw case out and paving way to sweetheart plea-bargain?

A Spider Man backpack on a teenaged football player would normally get you a ticket to Nerdville, not shot.

But Sheriff Baca has been saying all along that Espinoza was sent out with a mission from the shot callers in jail, to get someone from the P Stones gang since they've had a gang war with 18th St. So that much seems true, and saying that Espinoza mistook jamiel for a member is NOT saying that he WAS a gang member.

Declaring a "hate crime" when both the killer and victim are minorities is more tricky -- does Jamiel's not being a gangmember make a legal difference?

That arrogant SOB, Bratton, has said over and over that there is NO race war in L.A.! What a crock!

The cowards in the DA's office will do ANYTHING to avoid the TRUTH...the Browns are viciously targeting the Blacks! Period. End of discussion.

I can't understand Parks...his granddaughter was murdered by a gangbanger...why doesn't HE step up to the plate???

The Jamiel murder was a HATE crime committed by an illegal scumbag who should never have been allowed to stay in this country. Period!

We have enough problems with our OWN, homegrown gangbangers...there is NO excuse for not routing out ALL of the Mexican gangbangers and their families and getting them the hell out of our country! What's the problem???

Are there any law and order guys left??? If the answer is YES...please get your name on the ballot next March!

From the frog pond echoes:

"This is something made up by Higby and Walter Moore to cause trouble."

Really? When exactly did Mr. Shaw hook up with those two to do these diabolical deeds? You sound highly reactionary with your calling people "idiots and liars". Therapy may be in order, my friend.

How many times do I have to say this?

The people who Villaraigosa and company hurt most are the blacks and LEGAL, lower income Latinos.

Re-elect Villaraigosa, Huizar, Reyes, Cardenas, Alarcon, and bug-eyed Jesus freaks like Janice Hahn, and the blacks and lower income Latinos will continue to suffer.

Ain't gonna impact the whiteys in the room.

Parks granddaughter was 1/2 Latino. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Home of My Space founder on upper Sunset Plaza Drive burglarized, reports Daily News. That's an area that's getting very little police patrol, relies heavily on private security, like much of the hills. And I've seen gang graffiti up there more and more, on retaining walls and street signs.

Shows problem with focusing cops on just a handful of gang reduction areas -- they've been roaming up to places like that instead. Recently Bel Air hills burglaries were all the news, but it's EVERYWHERE.

There have been Latinos going around ringing bells pretending to be maids and gardeners looking for work, and stuff disappears. Blacks walk around selling magazine subscriptions, same MO.

James Brown is a neighbor of that burglarized house and has been running an alleged gangser rehab program for years -- but like we're seeing with Hahn, these people never really reform if there's an easy opportunity, just find new pastures.

Another reason NOT to cut cops or go down from the 10.000 cop goal, which is still too few for L A. It's the unions getting raises a few months ago and keeping outrageous lifetime pensions at this time of crisis, to blame. That's about half the shortfall.

Sorry, we need the cops down with the people who get victimized by violent crime. Property crimes for Bel Air types- video surveillance is often present, and private security patrols and alarm systems more likely found there.

And if you see sleazy looking suspect types, CALL the police. Civilians don't get days off for profiling.

But Lil' Antonio is squeezing our collective and financial balls to get his cop goal so he can run for office again.

Okay, from what I'm reading, a mistake that a non-gang member is a gang member takes the motive away from it being a race crime to a gang rivalry crime.
Question: Are the two gangs of different races?

Never heard of a gang banger playing high school footbal so I would tend to believe Shaw was not associated with a gang.

Ace Smith is one creepy little guy. He's dangerous in that he will say or do anything to anyone and doesn't care. He obviously doesn't have a conscience and thinks like a criminal. but leave it to LA Slimes to do puff piece on him last Sunday. BOYCOTT LATIMES. Read what people said about him.

...Chris Lehane, friend and Democratic strategist: "Ace is a Michael Corleone."
Ben Austin, Democratic consultant: "He is one of the few balding, bespectacled guys who I wouldn't want to run into in a dark alley."

Kam Kuwata, who managed Jim Hahn's campaigns: "It's admirable if you can lie and get away with it."

Ken Khachigian, Republican strategist: "He'll be relentless and tough. He fits right in with the Clinton war machine."

Soboroff: "Ace is very mischievous, in a dark way."
Soboroff recalls that Smith once promised a scoop to a reporter who had annoyed him, inviting the scribe to a meeting. But when the reporter arrived, Smith closed an elevator door in the journalist's face and said "Oh no, it's too late."

What's the point of charging it as a hate crime when they are seeking the death penalty? A hate crime enhancement only adds additional years to the sentence which would be irrelevant if the prosecution is seeking death/lwop.

Ed why do you hired staffs who has no experience, such as Monica Aleman, then she fall in City Hall to get money from you, she stop working claiming she cannot walk. Then her Husband get arrested for
child pronography and you cover her
while she was employed? Then you fired her and get her husband Steven a job with the City. Do you really want to type of people in the City. Now where is Monica working now does anyone know?

Even if Shaw was a banger and he was difinitely not one, does that mean that gang/hate war is ok on our city streets regardless of citizenship status. what ever is needed to correct need to happen. Whether it is a FBI-LAPD or ICE problem just handle it stop these racial politics and just follow the laws on the book.

I don't think that Ace Smith is creepy. As long as we don't have clean money - he who has the most money wins and that's the end of that discussion. So Ace, Kam, Parke, Rick Taylor.. all of them are EXACTLY the same. Doing the job they get paid for. Jim Hahn's campaign manager lying at the same time Antonio Villaraigosa's campaign manager was lying. So go vote for the Clean Money Campaign, but in the meantime - you get what you pay for.

And if you don't think gangbangers are playing on football teams, I suggest you go watch a game and see them for yourselves.
