"LA ANTONIA TIMES", R. I. P.

To Steve Lopez,

We at Mayor Sam can empathize with your plight.

After all, with the "ZELL MAN" at the helm of the "MOBILE TRAILER TRIBUNE", the pressure to produce quality news print is on the level with the quality of pole dancers on the roof(Roderick can be your "DOORMAN" to the roof, just a thought).

So you are in a funk over the fact that our esteem Mayor does not have the mental fortitude to focus on a "ONE ON ONE" with you.

You offer to walk with him around Skid Row to discuss the current state of affairs in the bowels of "EASTERN DOWNTOWN", nada?

Want to critique Mirthala on her new show at " MIGHTY RADIOBIMBO 690 AM"?, no go?

You want to ask the Mayor to respond to the Council's numbers cruncher who panned his budget proposals, no way??

Steve, I and the others who are in the decreasing ranks of daily readers of actual newsprint, love your style. Whether it is the "Esteem Cardinal" or "C.A. Rocktard", you "T.J." and Steve Harvey's "The Bottom Ten" are the only reasons I continue this daily ritual of reading the newsprint in hand.

But as a point of reference, when you piss off the "POLITICO FORMERLY KNOWN AS MAYOR ANTONIO VILLARAIGOSA, tony villar, with what Tim Rutten wrote,

Perhaps the mayor simply hoped to demonstrate that he really is a "friend
to the department." After all, the ongoing reduction in crime in L.A. is one of
the few unambiguous achievements of a mayoral administration that seems to
generate more unfinished initiatives than an ADD clinic.

......and the Mayor (ADV®) responds with this,

"a cheap shot at people who have ADD" and added, "I think he knows my son
has attention deficit disorder."(M.O. of Mayor to hide behind family member when the "s..." gets deep).

...then rest assure, you (great find on Mirthala's radio show quote), Rutten and your "FISHWRAP OF RECORD" are in the "CASA DE PERRO". Maybe Helfand can plead your case, he is the Mayor's favorite P.R. writer.

In closing, with the endorsement of Obama, Rutten's missive on Mayor, and with the dishing of scribe Lopez, we announce the retirement of the moniker "LA ANTONIA TIMES"...........that is until the next mayoral election in 2009.

I was pleased to see Lopez using favorite Mayor Sam terms such as the Summer of Love and the Mini Mayor.

Perhaps next he could write about the 80 FAKE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCHES.

For 11:23

I feared for Rose when he brought up the mayor's dalliance last year with Telemundo anchor/reporter Mirthala Salinas.

"I had a tough summer," Villaraigosa said. "I got divorced, and it wasn't pretty."

The worst thing you can do in a situation like that is lie, Rose said.

"Luckily I didn't," Villaraigosa said.

Actually, maybe he should have. Salinas might not have lost her job and ended up on talk radio, where last week she and her co-host were talking about how immigration raids are splitting up families. John Rabe, host of "Off-Ramp" on KPCC-FM (89.3), had assigned intern Grissel Espinoza to listen to the show, and Espinoza heard an angry caller ask on the air:

"What did Mirthala do with Villaraigosa? Isn't that family disintegration?"

Ouch.

Lopez is blowing smoke out of his butt to please the likes of 11:20, who show that it doesn't matter WHAT you write about the Mayor, as long as you try to take him down to the Inquirer level of last summer. Lopez had his moment of glory with that "too cute" Summer of Love article, which even concluded with speculations about the Mayor's private anatomy, so I think it's safe to say Lopez will be getting his "news" about Antonio from watching Charlie Rose indefinitely.

Tim Rutten is another smug jerk who tried to make hay out of the Mayor's support for the SWAT/ anti- gang cops at the funeral, by saying he was kissing the butt of the Police Protection League. Just like he wrote a similar article about Weiss a month earlier.

But Rutten got a terse letter from the League accusing Rutten of being the one to capitalize on the plights of cops to make a name for himself -- it was published in L A Observed, funny, you didn't pick it up here. Nothing but mud slinging against the Mayor, huh? (While kissing the butt of Chicago Homeboy Obama -- open season on little Mexicans, but more butt-kissing to little half-black guys rules.)

(Not that you couldn't find substantive things to attack him on if you really wanted to -- I for one agree it would be silly to sell off the older cars in the fleet, which would go for about $1000 at auction and mean the city has to reimburse its Field Deputies for mileage. They should look at the hundreds of cars used by DWP executives first -- unlike the little-paid Field Deputies who have to drive all over the district, what do those people do with their take-home cars that is so essential? Stay late at the DWP gym and lactation classes?)

Lopez and Rutten aren't giving us anything new or useful, just trying to keep their own names relevant by making cheap shots which are even counterproductive to city policy, as with Rutten attacking the Police League and anyone who supports them.

Maybe Rutten and Lopez can write PR pieces on that little monkey midget Zell, like they did about his grand appearance at the LACMA remodel. Or better yet, follow him out on the town visiting a strip club, and ranking them by preference. "Strip club Weekly Rankings by Zell," the true self-described conneoisure of "p-sy."

Sorry, Lopez, nothing you can dig up on Tony and Mirthala's relegated to being out of sight, so stick to your own midget perv, Zell. (Teach fat wanna-be rainmaker Rutten how to join you in Enquirer-land.)

The new movie about the homeless man from Juliard has Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as the bad guy in it. Tearing peoples tents down with the safe cities initiative , skid row denizens booing him at a press conference while he announces fifty million dollars for homelessness and then turning around and shaking Steve Lopez's hand thanking him for brining skid row to his attention.

That is the word from sources on the movie set. It is not going to be a good movie for the Midget Mayor. The movie is based on Steve Lopez's articles in the LA Times and stars Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. as Steve Lopez.

We have a Mayor Villa-Mugroso defender in our midst’s, who says we use "Enquirer" tactics to take down our Midget Mayor.

Well let's look at one huge problem in Los Angeles, the "Gang Capital of the World", yes gangs.

The Mayor used his superb management skills to appoint Jeff Carr as gang czar; I would have appointed Caper the Ghost as gang czar. I'm sure I would have seen Casper more often; we’ve yet to see Jeff Carr in action. The Mayor has done nothing to help implement any new gang programs after the city spent $590 million on Connie Rice’s gang report/study.

The Mayor has never once mentioned that a large percentage of gang members are illegal aliens. The Mayor has instead pandered to the illegal alien community, just look at all the illegal vendors all over Los Angeles as one example. Anyone with half a brain knows we need to enforce immigration laws against known illegal alien gang members, as part of any gang reduction program.

This is what the Mayor should be asking for here in Los Angeles, if he is really serious about gang reduction.

Red Spot, I think Villar is way too refined to be a strip club companion for midget perv Zell (misspelled connoisseur, a la a Spot-ism there), and I'm sure he'd never made his catch phrase, "It's unAmerican not to like P-sy."

If he wasn't afraid of being fired, Lopez would go after Zell for all the local color this town could handle. (But didn't he get into trouble for showing up at Zell's house in the Bu once, after Zell didn't return his calls? Talk about an imperious little guy with control and power issues.

As for Rutten, his contribution to the public discourse in town is such that he should go out as Zell's strip club ranking buddy, and maybe try a shimmy or two himself, it's a good workout. Now, that's a story Lopez can't miss. (Even Mirthala's too classy for that, apparently she'd rather be doing interviews in a radio basement than being fodder for Lopez et al.)

On a more serious note, if it's true about the Mayor being the bad guy for cleaning up skid row -- it's been a hellhole for years because under the ACLU and like- minded activists who kept the homeless on the streets, drugged out and "free" for their own good, and only under the Mayor and Bratton has it finally become more or less walkable again. To the relief of downtown merchants and loft dwellers, visitors to MOCA, etc. And yes, there's been some disruption to the homeless' street existence -- the city and county are building some shelters, but I'd like to see more private investment and help in that quarter from churches, and do-gooders who only condemn the city for trying to finally clean up its act.

The trademark registration for "Attention-Deficit Villaraigosa" or ADV® is " pending," but I'm fine with anyone else using it for the right reasons. Also looking into "Truthless Tony" -- although I think I stole that one from another blog, Pope Anthony I (not sure about the number on that).

Use 'em, don't abuse 'em. Anything for the cause, ABADV. The city don't need to spread CD14's misery that far around.

7 shot, injured at L.A. bus stop

Seven people were wounded in a shooting at a bus stop south of downtown Los Angeles this afternoon, officials said.

Several individuals walked up and fired multiple rounds at a bus stop shortly after 3 p.m., said Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Jason Lee, citing witnesses. Five juveniles and two adults were being treated for gunshot wounds on the scene at Central and Vernon Avenues, said spokeswoman Sara Faden.

"It's chaos out there. There are seven victims. It's hard to say who's the victim and who's the suspect," Lee said.

The injuries ranged from minor to serious, but all victims were in stable condition and expected to survive, officials said.

No suspects were in custody. A nearby middle school was on lockdown as a precaution while police searched for the assailants, Faden said.

From WWG regarding the Lopez piece.

Lopez can't get interview with the mayor

Times columnist Steve Lopez says the Villaraigosa press office won't even return his calls. By the way, on "Charlie Rose" last week, Villaraigosa assailed columnist Tim Rutten for using an ADD metaphor and said, "I think he knows my son has attention deficit disorder." Well now everyone knows, but I didn't and Rutten didn't: "Wouldn't know the mayor's son if I tripped over him," he told Lopez.. LAT

February 28, 2008 10:05 AM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

If the Mayor wanted to say something substantive about Rutten, why didn't he say that the Police Protective League wrote Rutten a scathing letter to butt out of the situation, instead of accusing the Mayor of pandering to them? They said it was Rutten who was trying to promote himself at the expense of the cops by attacking the Mayor. That's what he should have said, but now we all know his son has ADD when no one did before. Guess he was referring to Rutten's snotty tone, shared with his buddy Lopez.

But to be fair, if Lopez ever said anything negative about my privates or more precisely, quoted an old lady saying it (as though that was okay) I wouldn't call him back, either. I'd question his own cajones -- what kind of guy talks about another guy's family jewels?
Cheap shot, Lopez gets what he deserved.

Now, he has his own resident midget boss Zell to torment, but I haven't seen anything out of him about the guy's potty-mouth. Or showing up at LACMA with two women on each arm, an older one who must ahve been the wife, and who was the other one? The wife didn't look too happy -- like, "What, I'm not good enough to walk in with by myself? Who do you think you are, you ridiculous horny little elf?"

Now, that's what Lopez could have said. If he had cojones.
