Hey Eric Garcetti, You Forgot To Invite Michael Hunt to Your Barack Obama Rally...But That's Cool, He Found Out Anyway

I know Friday is a big day for Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti as he welcomes Barack Obama supporters for an awareness rally at City Hall. Even though Barack will not be there (kinda takes away some of the excitement), Eric was knocking on doors in Iowa for Barack and if Obama wins the White House, I'm sure Garcetti will get to ride the bandwagon.

But, oh no...I just got a call from Michael Hunt, who heard that there is a big Barack Obama rally at City Hall on Friday, and thought it would be a great opportunity to help raise awareness of the Venice Beach ordinance issue that Council was working on, just before the winter break.

Even Matt and ZD cringe at the thought, because who the hell knows what he'll decide to wear -- and Matt feels that City Council is showing signs of progress toward wrapping up this whole Venice Beach nightmare, anyway.

So good news Eric Garcetti and Los Angeles City Council! ZD and Matt told Mike, that since the Mayor supports Clinton, if you show up at the Obama rally...you will just be making the mayor happy. (Rim shot!)

But seriously, why rock the boat now, when Council has been indicating to Matt that they want to settle this Venice deal, just as much as we do!

So, Mike's willing to chill and let Matt head down to City Hall during the rally, to greet his fans and see how the Venice deal is going, in anticipation of next week (when a meeting is set on the issue).

After all, Mike's goal is to get back on the beach...not push a first amendment wardrobe issue. If he's showing up anyway, to discuss Venice, he'll push it...but I don't think he'll be showing up at City Hall if he is able to be selling at the beach. He couldn't afford the time!

And next time Council is ready to have someone bash our heads in with police batons -- we hope they'll remember this warm and fuzzy, "Long Distance Dedication" moment, when Zuma and Eric and Mike and Matt -- all just got along.

I'm Casey Kasem.

Zuma Dogg,

Like so many others, Joel Stein has an opinion about you.
You guys are mentioned in the times.

Joel adroitly points out what a huge waste of time public comment has become since they threw the three bums off Venice Beach.

The fool Zuma thinks Stein is glorifying him.

Which of your clowns showed up at Eric's shindig wearing a chicken costume? No question it's part of your civil rights to appear incognito to emphasize the nature of your political objections, but just what were they, exactly?

8:13am,

Hmmmmmm, you felt it was a slam on me? You will see what you want to see, I guess. Read it again with your "satarist" cap on. Joel is a satarist. He used me in the story, but I think you missed the point.

I think you got it wrong 8:13 AM. Read it again. Don't try to use big words like adroitly. I thought Stein skillfully pointed out that the council members are fools and that it took someone like Zuma Dogg to bring it out in the open to the average Times readers.

HERE'S THE POINT JOEL WAS MAKING, I THINK:

"The weirdest part of the meeting was that, when I wasn't looking, the council passed $29 million in bonds for affordable housing, gave 11 neighborhoods street lighting for the first time and reinstated commuter express buses. All of which took about four minutes because the details were worked out in committee.

The rest of the three hours was bread and circus. Which I understand is a big part of politics. But I want my circus to inspire me, or at least be done in front of an audience.

Instead, a lot of politics is like a kids' soccer league, making everyone feel good about themselves with trophies for participation, good attitude and loving Rosa Parks. Which is really a waste of time."

Get it...3 hours of dog and pony show, but all the million dollar decisions are done in before hand in committee meetings that are not broadcast on TV.

Someone posted this under a someone else's name. a no-no. here it is anonymously:

anonymous claiming to be someone they are not said...

"ZD and his crew are total timewasters.

ZD doesn't even write his own material; according to Matt Dowd, Mike Hunt reviews the laws and rules and Matt does the research and tells ZD what to say.

ZD is just a puppet.

Well, duh."
