Wednesday Hotsheet at 3 a.m.

Did the crowds look a little less robust than typical at yesterday's Rose Parade? In a town filled not only with celebrities but even celebrity chefs, New Orleans import Emeril Lagasse was the grand marshal.

Steve Hymon reports today on the inability of LA neighborhood councils to impact land use decisions. Everything in the article is familiar territory to our readers, but it is worth a glance. The article mostly faults NCs and points to no successes other than some "worthy community projects and slick websites." The MOU with the DWP and the Home Depot retreats are not mentioned.

A man was shot and killed at Forest Lawn Glendale in an apparent gang-related murder. When you know the cemetary, it blows your mind. There is mobile security all over the place. There is also only one auto exit, and nobody except for very ambitious joggers visit the cemetary on foot; an immediate, sharp and sustained rise greets all visitors.

Steve Hymon or as Alan Middlestatt says the Mayor calls him "STEVIE" is the biggest kiss butt to the Mayor. This is why Latinos are voting for Obama. Hillary's campaign is full of corruption and paybacks.

....What happened between Johnson's $2,300 contribution to Obama in March and his $4,600 donation to Clinton in August?

In June, Johnson, who is an extraordinarily successful entrepreneur, began talks with billionaire Ron Burkle about forming a joint investment fund of $750 million or more to take advantage of the growing and lucrative markets in inner city and minority-owned businesses, according to Eric Holloman, president of Johnson's Canyon-Johnson Urban Fund. Burkle has been one of Bill Clinton's closest friends and supporters. Burkle and Bill Clinton were often seen together in and around Los Angeles, and Clinton frequently stayed at Burkle's mansion, which was the scene of much-reported partying. Burkle gave Bill Clinton a lucrative consulting job as a senior advisor to his investment firm, Yucaipa Companies. When Hillary announced, Burkle became a strong backer and encouraged Johnson to support her.

Now, spokesmen for both Burkle and Johnson flatly dispute that there is any connection whatsoever between the Burkle-Magic investment partnership and Magic's Hillary endorsement.

SOUNDS LIKE THE MERUELO DEVELOPER STUFF WITH THE MAYOR.

None of the pols gives Alan Mittelstaedt an interview anymore, he just gets stale press releases and rote emails: because he is an "L A Sniper" just as he says, out to dig dirt no matter what, not a balanced view. He ended up whining, peeved that none of the CM's dished dirt on the Mayor for his article, making one of his New Year's resolutions: "It's okay to give the Mayor a C." Not to you, dirt-digging Alan.

And he doesn't get things right much of the time, too filled with leftie bias. Always dumps on Waxman and the Mayor, making Zev the scapegoat, when that couldn't be further from the opposite truth.

Maybe Zev spun him as easily as he did zuma: pat the mutt and news hound on the head, and he won't bite, tell the truth, and he will.

Alan's a leftie journo at USC: them that can't teach and preach to the vulnerable.

Do you mean to imply that endorsements for Obama are grounded in some sort of idealistic vision, an altruistic impulse to do honor to the whole political process? If yes, that at best is entirely naive. Oprah was apolitical until her latest foray into support for the Obama duck. She can with pride join the other Obama endorsers, David Brooks, Karl Rove, George Wills and Peggy Noonan, all renown for there highly moral altruism on issues like the Iraq war, individual rights and racial harmony.

Magic is not a billionaire. He probably has millions and wants more, so it seems and nothing wrong with that. Burkle is closer to Billionaire status and he's a bachelor which is why Bill liked him so much...or at least the environment of a wealthy bachelor. There is always a method to the madness folks! (-:

After Oprah Winfrey, the richest African-American in the country, announced that she would hold a September 6 fundraiser for Obama at her Santa Barbara home, Magic countered with an offer to host a Clinton fundraiser at his Los Angeles house on September 14. As the two candidates competed for the support of black luminaries, Johnson announced that co-chairs of his Hillary event included Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, musician Quincy Jones, and music executive Clarence Avant.

"Senator Hillary Clinton understands the domestic and international issues better than anyone," Johnson said in an August 12 press release announcing his fundraiser. "[Hillary] has the experience and knowledge to help lead our country and get us to a better place. We need a winner as our next president."

On December 17 and 18, Magic joined Bill and Hillary for a tour of Iowa. Speaking in Davenport, Johnson infuriated Obama supporters when he told the crowd, "You don't want somebody in there that is young or a rookie at politics" -- a direct dig at Obama.

As for the out of your mind comment, how many trips has Antonio made out to Iowa. Iowa has a significant Latino population - Iowa was right in the middle of the Mexican migratory path to the Chicago slaughter houses and autu plants of Detroit.

Yet every time Antonio shows up, Obama's numbers get better.

BTW, whatever happend to Antonio's kids on that float. Did mommy finally put her foot down and forbid them from being used as political pawns - just like she was used?

Latinos will go for Obama. Antonio and Trujillo are the kiss of death. Who's the Latino outreach person for Obama?

On the subject of objective journalists, this from the "OBSERVING WEST L.A. LIFE AND HIS TIMES, WWG"

Let's face it, the fun place to be for a politics junkie right now is Iowa. Mayor Villaraigosa flew in Saturday (after skiing in Aspen with his kids, reportedly) to stump for Hillary Clinton. San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom is also there, and together I guess they could form a little womanizers for Clinton caucus? Actually, Villaraigosa is hitting supermarkets, university areas and the Asian community, among other niches, before coming home to ride in tomorrow's Rose Parade and hype the year-end, good news crime numbers. "I'm supporting Hillary Clinton ... because this is the most important election in my lifetime," the mayor told a shopper at the Hy Vee Food & Drug Co. in Des Moines.

Illegal immigration is the TOP ISSUE for 68% of Iowans and bringing Tony Villar to Iowa was the kiss of death for Hillary! The last thing Iowa wants to see is a Mechista Mexican running around their town!

Secondly, Hillary's foreign policy "experience" is ludicrous! She and Chelsea took more trips around the world than any other first family in the history of this country! Everyone forgets how they swindled taxpayers!

You would think that her sleazy husband would have prepped her on Pakistan and a few other things...what a bunch of losers!

"BUYING THE MAYOR FOR THE CIVIC GOOD"

The Mayor Can Be Bought!

By Michael P. Neufeld
Tuesday, January 1, 2008

Fawnskin, CA – The mayor of Fawnskin can be bought and today (January 1, 2008) is the last day to buy a vote for your favorite candidate—incumbent Gene Cyr, Betty Conroy or Cynthia Crane.

This year the owner of Magnolia Heating and Cooling and Total Food Solutions (Cyr) faces off against Betty Conroy who is bartender at the Moose Lodge and Fawnskin Postmaster Cynthia Crane.

Each vote costs a 25-cent mini-mum and can be cast at collection boxes located at the Fawnskin Market, the Moose Lodge and any of Fawnskin's three restaurants. The actual results won't be announced until later this month.

The annual honorary mayor fund-raiser brought in over $7,800 in 2007 when Cyr was elected to his first term. The new mayor will be the person who collects the most cash.

The sponsoring North Shore Improvement Association distributes all proceeds from the mayoral contest to local charities. Over the last few years, the money raised in the mayor's race has purchased equipment for firefighters and the local search-and-rescue squad.

Fawnskin's honorary mayor presides over various community events including the annual Christmas tree lighting.

Question:

It's campaign time.
One elected official calls up another elected official and says I don't think you should run, we all the powerful people behind us, and basically you would be wasting your time.

The same elected person, calls up and speaks with his wife this time, and tells her that they don't think that the candidate should run because of health reasons it's too stressful.

Then the same elected official calls up a third time and speaks to the other elected offical and says because of a flyer that you sent out, I am going to sue you, and the other elected says I didn't say anything untrue, Do what you have to do.

Did the first elected official go beyond the scope of an official and harass and intimidate another candidate? And is that legal?

Or is it just L.A. politics?

If a white guy had claimed to have "international experience" because they lived abroad for a few years as a kid under 10, they'd have been laughed off the stage long ago. It's fun seeing someone so different looking and with a funny name running but that, and the low-brow Oprah fan base will peter out.

Person who said Hillary should have skipped Iowa may be right -- these are bumpkin farmers and one-light town hicks who tend to lean towards the outsider, and love to have their butts kissed by people who promise them the world -- like Edwards and Obama, without means to deliver. These nice simple people can't add that 2 + 5 doesn't = 4.

No wonder Richardson, Biden, Dodd -- the mainstream -- are going for Hillary. True she's not the dsrling of the celebs or libs in Aspen on 90004 right now, but when she's the Dem candidate, they'll be back to kissing her butt again and pretending they were behind her all along.

No one ever says this has negatively impacted Sarkozy's abilities as a President or leader, to the contrary, it draws attention to his duties as a leader. France and all of Europe think the people acting like Puritans/ hypocritical lower-class judgmental Catholics, are the really pathetic ones.

There you are Elliot Sekular a friend of the Mayor, defending him for his lack of commitment, your must be just like him. Who cares what the president of France is doing with his girlfriend, we do not live in France. The Mayor lives in Los Angeles and we are affected by his actions. His actions have opened a window into his character and we now know that he can’t be trusted. He used Corina and his children to portray a good family man, once he had obtained his position as Mayor they were of no use to him. He promised to finish his term as a Councilman for CD 14 and he didn’t. He promised the Northeast community, before he was elected, to hold Autry’s feet to the fire and he has ignored that promise. The Mayor, Councilman Huizar and you along with your group, fabricated a mock “Victory” to mislead not only the community, but members of the Blue Ribbon Committee so you could put their names on it as supporters.
The Mayor is for himself, no one else. As long as he feeds his ambition, he doesn’t care about anyone else. The same goes for you, your primary interest is to have the Mayor approve the multibillion dollar development at Universal Studios that will benefit you personally. That is why you lie to your neighbors, friends and acquaintances about the thievery that the Autry Center is committing on the Southwest Museum. You are supporting the Autry because, they have supported the Mayor and Councilman Huizar with donations to their campaigns.

“Birds of a feather, flock together”.

It is common that members of the French government have mistresses; however, the man never leaves the wife or children. The mistress can come to the the mans funeral but she can never be served at his wife's table. The man will acknowlege the children, but the children are always acknowledged as 'bastards"

Antonio has screwed everyone and anything; his best friends wife, his wife's friends and anything that is leftovers from the younger and more virle young men in the government. He is no different from a dog impregnating everything he finds in the street.

8:38 and 8:54: We're talking here about your primitive values relative to France and the civilized world, not your rules as to how Latin men treat their wives in the Hispanic Catholic world.

Sarkozy left his wife and promptly got a girlfriend and not only does no one care, they think it's cool, end of story, and he doesn't give the time of day to losers like you and the tortilla-pan swatting, fat wives' brigade

The rules you gave apply to Hispanic men: I visited a family in Puerto Rico a while back, thinking they were a happily married couple, and indeed they were: except the husband kept a mistress apt. a couple of blocks away and everyone knew about it.

When there was no mistress in residence, the kids, even the girl, were allowed to hang with him there, as sort of an escape from the witch/ wife, but when there was a mistress, they all knew it was off limits.

Now, that creeps me out -- that's YOUR Hispanic mistress world.

If Mirthala was happy to fit into that, I'm not defending her, but that's not the only option. There's the option of getting out of your lowclass Latino/ Hispanic macho world where woman are whores or madonnas. Growing up.

They Americanize everything in thir path, and the French have to declare martial law against the influx of better-liked and more resilient cultures.

Even California makes better cheese and wine.

Nothing left but the Eiffel Tower, and then what do you do on Day #2.

France is dead; lay it to rest! It goes the way of Ancient Rome and Bablyon.
