This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I'm an ex-mayor. Los Angeles is a magnet for people from all over the world. Some of them run for public office. Inevitably some of them stray from the golden rule and rule for those that have the gold. That's when I go to work. My name is Yorty. I'm a dead pol.

I will never understand the significance people give New Years.
Yea, a toast may be called for, but to jam Times Square like cattle just seems weird.

Had to look this up, but I believe that is Victor Lombardo leading the band, as Guy Lombardo had just died that November ('77).

Just back from a beautiful walk in the foothills. Love the wind. Good morning and happy New Year to all, it's a great morning and to be alive.

Happy New Year to all the bloggers!
Jack Hoff, you may be right and 6:47 I agree with you. It's an over rated holiday day.
I remember that very New Year's Eve back on December 31, 1977. In fact, I just looked at a few pictures last month. What a hoot.

New Year's is one of my favorite holidays. There's no obligation to see family, to go to church, to do anything but sit and relax. I love New Year's, it might be my favorite day of the year.
So have a mimosa, and chill a little.
