Afternoon updates from the "RED SPOT INSTITUTE"

CARDINAL MAHONY FILES RESTRAINING ORDER:
Cardinal Roger Mahony has requested a Restraining Order against a 61 year old man who threaten him recently. This recent episode is unrelated to the summertime assault
This comes a day after the Cardinal sat down with the LAPD to discuss the July episode where Mahony was beaten during a stroll to a nearby mailbox.
The attacker physically express his anger over the Priest abuse scandal, leaving the Los Angeles rep. to the "Holy See" with injuries to his body.

"BIG JOE" STRIKES THE TENT IN MALIBU:
Santa Monica Mountain Conservancy's "LAND BANKING CZAR" Joe Edmiston came up a loser in his bid to open up SMMC/MCRA land within the City of Malibu to camping.
Malibu residents and the full City Council were in solidarity against the burly ranger with hat, gun, and "NO ACCOUNTABILITY" to anyone.
"RANGER JOE" plans to appeal the cities decision to the California Coastal Commission. No word whether the "LAND BANKING CZAR" would plan to access a hidden fee on the fire weary residents of Malibu.

"CLOWNCIL" DELAYS DWP FEE INCREASES:
What should of been a momentous day for "VILLAR DINNER FRIEND" H. David Hahai was outshined by the "CITY CLOWNCIL" new found want for accountability from the newly installed DWP General Manager.
After being confirmed for GM by the "FIFTEEN CLOWNS". Nahai's plans for fee increases in water and electricity to sustain the General Fund, errrrr, infrastructure improvements, was put on the shelf for the next couple on months.
No word how this went over with "BOSS D'ARCY" upon Nahai's report to the DWP "OVERLORD".
"STORM WATCH 2007":
Winter storm has local officials on stand by. Here are some sites to keep up to date on the storm's progression.

How do you get a restraining order against an "unidentified male"? I guess we'll all know who he is pretty soon. And if he is identified, can't he be arrested for the assault?

Phoney MaHony said he didn't recognize his attacker. Then he said he was walking to mail letters. Please this so called cardinal doesn't do anything himself and I want to know where around the Cathedral that mailbox is. This is a publicity stunt by McPhony acting like a victim. He saw that he got attention in the media yesterday now he wants more attention so he files a restraining order on someone he said he didn't recognize. He's a liar and why isn't the media asking him why he helped the pedophile priests that molested young boys and MaPhony protected them.

Mahony requests restraining order against man

Attorneys have requested a temporary restraining order against a man they claim threatened Cardinal Roger Mahony and other church officials.

Edward George Filek, 61, allegedly "made general threats" against Mahony and other cathedral workers, according to documents filed in the restraining order petition, dated Wednesday.

Mahony recently told fellow priests that he was attacked earlier this year because of the Catholic Church's sex abuse scandal. Filek was not linked to that attack.

Filek was thrown out of Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral on Sunday after he started "doing drugs" in the cathedral during Mass, according to an incident report filed in the restraining order petition. He returned to the cathedral later in the day and security guards called police when he refused to leave.

He came back again Monday and made more threats and stated "you will be sorry," documents state.

No number was listed for Filek in an area phone directory and it was not immediately known if he had an attorney.

Filek was arrested at least once during his visits to the cathedral. According to a security guard report, the Los Angeles Police Department advised guards to seek a restraining order because Filek was a repeat trespasser.

A call to the Los Angeles archdiocese was not immediately returned Thursday.

Mahony, 71, told colleagues at a conference in October that he was attacked.

This from the L.A. Times

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles has sought a temporary restraining order against a man it says made threats against Cardinal Roger M. Mahony and other employees of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

The request for the order, filed Wednesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, seeks to prohibit 61-year-old Edward Filek from stalking, phoning or writing Mahony and two monsignors assigned to his staff. He also would have to stay 100 yards away from where they live, work or visit.

The filing is unrelated to a July attack on the cardinal in which he said he was punched and kicked while mailing letters near the cathedral. Mahony told the Los Angeles Police Department he did not wish to pursue that matter with police.

In the more recent case, according to the request for the restraining order, the incident began Sunday when Filek was escorted from the cathedral after allegedly refusing to leave. The LAPD arrested him that day, the court filing says. He allegedly broke into the cathedral the next day when it was closed, setting off the alarm. He was again arrested, the report says. On Wednesday, the document says, Filek again returned to the cathedral and, when escorted out, said, "You'll be sorry."

"We understand that Mr. Filek made general threats against Cardinal Mahony and other persons at the cathedral," Mahony's attorneys said in the filing.

Filek, who the report lives says at the Los Angeles Mission, could not be reached for comment. Court officials said he had no connection to the clergy sexual abuse litigation.

A hearing was set for Dec. 20 in Superior Court, where a judge is to decide whether to grant the restraining order.

Change in Crenshaw

City officials and the L.A. Urban League transform a school and a neighborhood.

December 7, 2007

If only Los Angeles schools had more days like this. The mayor, police chief, city attorney, a councilman and a state senator, brought together by the Los Angeles Urban League, assembled Thursday on the steps of Crenshaw High School and committed to revitalizing the school and its surrounding community.

And it wasn't just a photo-op. The optimistic pledges and promises were already bolstered by results and statistics. Crime in the 70-block area has plunged as LAPD Chief William J. Bratton has devoted resources to the project. Murders are down 71%, and rapes, 65%. And rarely has South L.A. enjoyed such a positive relationship with the Police Department. City Atty. Rocky Delgadillo also has stepped up, locating a prosecutor's office in the school; it has slashed truancies. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa vowed to take the Urban League model to communities across the city, something he is uniquely able to do, and state Sen. Mark Ridley-Thomas (D-Los Angeles) and city Councilman Bernard C. Parks threw their support behind the project as well

John & Ken KFI made an interesting point about Mahony attack. Why didn't he file a police report back in July and what kind of message is he sending by not doing so? Mahony supports illegals and many of them don't report crimes not knowing that their status whether legal or illegal isn't at issue only the crime committed.

Villaraigosa always says everyone should support LA businesses and help the economy. Then why was he in Beverly Hills two weeks ago getting a haircut and his hair dyed? The cost was $400.00. Will someone please tell him he can go to the local barber shop and they can do a much better job for $8.95
