Zuma Times Community Update:

VALLEY SECESSION TALK AT NC LEVEL?Is Valley secession movement brewing, again? Maybe for several reasons, including dissatisfaction with the amount of power/input with the Neighborhood Council system “bone” former Mayor Hahn threw to the Valley to keep them happy.

But why bother trying to “fix the system” (of NCs) if the whole system isn’t worth the paper the (no-quorum, again) agendas are printed on. (Council doesn't WANT to listen.)

If only the Councilmembers would learn a trick from the “customer satisfaction” lesson book, that if people at least THINK they are part of the process (and they at least feel there are some minor victories, and the hope of a credible shot at a major victory), they might not be forced to be a constant thorn in your side. (Keep ‘em just happy enough that they don’t uprise and over-throw yo’ azz.)

So it looks like secession talk is brewing, again; and pirates who may be involved in, or who deal with NCs should “batton the hatches” and strap in the bassoon chair. (or whatever you call that thing.)

TAYLOR YARD: Also, some constituent disatisfaction brewing over Taylor Yard as it related to a High School, or not. (Sounds like they want one, but it ain’t happening fast enough.) And it appears the reason the school isn’t being built is because the most bitch-ass sell out elected officials In human history already bought and sold the community to Mr. Big Money (Riverfront?) Condo Developer who already greased all the right shady-as-f*ck palms. (That I hope end up in handcuffs.)

Taylor Yard is another one of those political hot beds that might scold yo azz, come election time.

PASEDENA 210 FREEWAY vs RICH BIGSHOT HOME OWNERS: I’m told this 210 freeway they want to run through a mansion neighborhood is causing quite a stir. (See previous thread from today.)

710 RUFFLES FEATHERS, TOO: Seems a bunch of folks with all the pull are living on some primo-property. I hear you got some NC bigshot types crying how hard things are, and they have the most sweatheart, shady property deals they are living in. THEIR NEEDS FIRST, THEN BUILD THE COMMUNITY AROUND IT. AND YOU GOT A BUNCH OF TEENAGERS RUNNING THE NC.

I must have missed something. Today's LA Times says the CAO has a settlement with the unions the City can afford. Yeah? Then why all the tax increase talk and why will DWP have to approve a rate increase today? May be to fund the transfer to the city. Talk about hidden taxes. DWP is funding water systems for parks. Another hidden transfer. Rec & Parks used to pay for that. October 02, 2007 7:31 AM

Don Jones, Caltrans Tenants Association representative, invited a member of the City Council and the City Manager to a meeting to be held on December 22,2006 between Caltrans and Caltrans property renters regarding a proposed rent moratorium for Caltrans properties located in the 210 Freeway corridor.

The Mayor indicated Mr. Jones would receive a response to the invitation. October 01, 2007 10:59 PM

if they had left us alone, you wouldn't even know my name.

now I know all about things like condo conversions, vacancy rates, LAUSD construction budgets, school board manipulations, despicable late night sexual liaisons with female Latina newsperson, event fee waiver abuse, campaign funding violations, ethical breaches, happy endings in luxury hotel rooms, motor vehicle abuses, hotel discriminations, ballot manipulations, cluster school takeovers, charter schools, not to mention the fraud waste and abuse with case in point being AB1381.

that failed pathetic attempt to violate State Constitution which wasted so much money, all of which signalled the ACTUAL intention. That intention now being acted out in the LAUSD board room.

so, no we don't know much, but we're picking up speed every day.

you just didn't know any better I guess. October 01, 2007 9:29 AM
[No matt, I guess they DON'T! That's what WE'RE for! To teach City Council and the Mayor, right from wrong...they don't know the difference.]

Go ahead and privatize DWP. You'll see your rates climb faster than you can wink. Edison & PG&E are salivating to take over this business. Even the CPUC will enjoy a rate hike for once! FYI, DWP has not not had a rate hike in decades. Its infrastructure is crumbling. It reduced its workforce twice in the nineties. The emissions of coal & fossil-fuel generating stations affects your health and those of our children's. That's why DWP must invest in renewable energy and to do so requires funding.

DWP employees are dedicated and hardworking. Please do not paint a broad brush when you criticize the ones who do not deserve to be working at DWP (yes, we have those problems here too). But majority of our employees perform their work as expected and keep your power on and your water running. Heat storms, rain storms, winds and floods, our folks risk their lives to deliver the service you deserve. I've worked for both the City and DWP. The utility business is dramatically different. We face many regulations, including the demand for renewables, safety issues, and we have severe workforce challenges. Running a utility is no joke. Even with high salaries, we can't attract the skilled workforce that we need. Need a job? Look at our job openings and apply your heart out. If you qualify and pass the cumbersome civil service exam, we'll welcome you into the DWP family and get you working. And mind you, our jobs are not easy. If you're looking for easy jobs, then you can't be at DWP.

P.S. BTW, we serve the rate payers, not the tax payers.

[We hit up DWP pretty hard, because they deserve it, those shady corrupt f-ers...but this person says his side pretty good, so let's give 'em some equal time.]
