LAUSD Parental Outrage Hits ZD's Inbox and City to Start Illegal Vending Crackdown Tomorrow Morning (Saturday)
Either ZD and Mayor Sam's blog is getting more popular, or the City is getting a lot shadier. Because I'm having a nervous breakdown from all the phone calls and emails I have been getting these past couple weeks -- and especially, this past week.
LAUSD: An LAUSD parent came across one of my threads, and they contacted me -- then they passed my info on to another parent...and it all kinda snowballed from there. Let's just say there is extreme parental dissatisfaction in the Valley regarding what is happening this year under the new school board. And some safety issues that didn't just pop-up over night -- but is escalating, and the parents who have contacted me feel like they are being stone-walled this year when it comes to parental input and scholastic reaction. (I'll basically be taking all the emails and faxes and compiling them into a thread for this weekend, if I can keep my A.D.D. in check...so stand by for that, for all who spent time on the phone filling me in and taking time to type up waaaaaaaay too many detailed and extensive emails.

ILLEGAL VENDING UPDATE: Those who feel the City's illegal vending policy (the fact that they allow it to go on) is hurting the City in many ways will be glad to know that CM Jose Huizar and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa plan on doing something about it starting tomorrow morning (Saturday) at Ramona Gardens.
CITY PHONE TAX: YIKES! And remember pollsters...it doesn't matter what they say today on the phone before the NO campaign starts. Of course they will say, "Yes" to 9% compared to 10%" on the phone. But wait till the radio talk shows, newspapers and TV ads hit. That might sway some folks. We'll see.

meanwhile the new Venice beach vending ordinance hit the table in federal court today (they expect us to analyze and report on it after they email to you the night before!!!)
anyway, Carol Sobel pointed out that the way its written, it will be illegal to walk along any beach, stop, set up an easel, and paint.

Does anyone take notice - or care that Tamar Galatzan lied to parents, voters. After AV backed candidate flooded the area with mailers day after day, stating that if she were elected she promised to devote her life to the students of LAUSD. TAMAR GALITZAN NEVER LEFT HER JOB AS A CITY ATTORNEY TO KEEP HER WORD. SHE IS A PART TIMER.

I did hear this week that some city hall staffers were a little too loose in the lips in discussing "tamar for wendy's council chair when wendy runs for controller" strategy. that kind of talk reeeeeeeeaally annoys the parents because they feel the mayor is using the LAUSD school board position to groom tamar for a council seat (on their kids time) -- and when it comes time for home depot to get LAUSD's approval (since it is only 450 feet away from a school...Tamar will be saying, "Hell yeah"...when even Wendy is saying, "Hell No."
So the parents feel Villar is using the kids, parents, school system and community as a whole to run his political chess board -- all for his own good...not the community's or society's.
TONY, my man...don't think you can walk into the sunland-tujunga community with your shady back of parental stonewall tricks -- and start changing the very nature of the community without SERIOUS parental and community opposition.
It's a small, tight knit community...everyone knows everyone...and they are not at all fooled by the stonewall b.s. treatment the Villargarcia school board is giving them.
You may be beating them, but you aren't fooling them. Sure, they contacted me because they saw one of my LAUSD stories from July warning about this new LAUSD school board. But contact me they did.

Everyone knows, Zuma Dogg graduated high school, just barely -- and doesn't like to have to read.
But you are causing Big ZD to have to read a lot of parental emails.
And listen to a lot of phone conversations. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AN EYE-OPENER THAT I APPRECIATED, BECAUSE I AM OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE SCHOOL SYSTEM, THESE DAYS...And things sure have changed.
But now, some parents feel that certain schools are being sent all the kids kicked out of other schools -- and it is hurting the community. And now...they are scared to send their kids to school. And that's when they start demanding Charters...shady, or not.

Great work, ZD. That IS quite a revelation. Amazing that some parents aren't happy with an LAUSD school, or charter school, or pre-school. Especially since ALL parents are happy ALL the time, right?
you'd be surprised at the level of parent, teacher and administrator dissatisfaction district-wide. To belittle the issue as merely a matter of random "unhappy parent syndrome" is to ignore the sounds of distant drums coming from the direction of the Valley.

Zuma, you do NOT look like a perv because we have no idea what they look like. I think they all look different. I have children and there is nothing about you that would make me think you shouldn't be around them.
That last post is insane and it's just one of the "haters" who cannot stand that you get further than them.
For the record, I've seen Zuma at City Hall, we've gone to dinner and we've spoken on the phone.
I really feel like I have to say that he has no smell so for someone to say something crazy like that is just ridiculous. You either don't know him, don't like him or you're afraid he'll expose you next.
He's a very bright guy. He catches on quickly to things that city employees don't, or they refuse to, or else they choose to ignore and THAT is why people post mean things about him.
Then there are the few jealous political gadflies who just can't stand the fact that he gets more attention than them.
Oh, yes, ZD definitely gets more attention than most of us, mainly because he is what is known as an "attention whore".
Whereas most of us seek to accomplish objectives in life, and, in doing so, create a nice home and life for our loved ones, he lives like a vagrant in a van, looks like a hobo or worse, and accomplishes very little.
Public officials humor or tolerate him, but really, no one really gives a rat's ass what he thinks or says.
He is a voice in the wilderness to which no one really listens.

I am an intelligent, educated and highly respected person in my community who knows a lot about raising children also.
