Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Monday
Brady Westwater writing at LA Citywatch says that Mayor Villaraigosa has won his battle to take over the school board; the teachers' union has essentially given up the ghost by pulling a half million dollars in funding to support incumbent Jon Lauritzen over the Mayor's candidate, attorney Tamar Galatzan. Westwater also predicts that Villaraigosa backed Richard Vladovic will win in the 7th District. With Galatzan and Vladovic joining Yolie Flores-Aguilar and Monica Garcia who were elected previously, this gives the Mayor full control of the Board of Education. The LA Times follows the Mayor's money in both of next week's races.

A judge has ruled that the LA City Council engaged in "bait and switch" techniques by tossing out a living wage law overturned by petition and then passing essentially the same law. Though the court only ruled on how the law was passed and not it's merits, hopefully someday this whole nonsense of government wage controls will be found unconstitutional by a court.
TalkRadio 790 KABC’s Larry Elder will guest host shows on MSNBC TV during the time slot recently vacated by Don Imus on Monday, May 7th and Tuesday, May 8th from 6-9AM (EDT)/3-6AM (PDT). The program will be simulcast on KABC radio.
Assemblyman Mike Feuer and Councilman Bernard Parks are leading an effort to call on the US Postal Service to create a postage stamp in honor of Mayor Tom Bradley. You can join the effort by signing our e-petition at MS2.
Looking to enjoy some potato salad and sack races? You are invited to join Wendy Greuel at her annual picnic on May 19th in North Hollywood.
Martini Republic may have not jumped the shark after all but possibly missed it altogether and has been consumed by such.
It took three buses, but Zach Behrens was able to get from Sherman Oaks to Bob Hope Airport. If you live near the NoHo Red Line Station and want to do a little walking, you can do it in one. Beats paying for parking. Also one cool little thing from Behrens' article; a photo of the Burbank Bus at the Red Line station shows in the distance the newly installed sign for HOWS Market at the soon to open NoHo Commons.

Don't count out Neil Kleiner in District 7. Mayor's negatives in the African american community in South L.A. and the small cities will make this race interesting

I love how you actually won't say he will win -- instead you say lame stuff like "don't count him out" so that way when he loses you can back-off and not feel like a complete idiot.
