L.A.'s Homeless Pay For Absentee Mayor's Endless Vacation

By Walter Moore, Candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles, MooreIsBetter.com.

To run the second-largest city in America, you have to show up for the job. You can't spend all your time traipsing around posing for pictures.

Case in point: the federal government has withheld $12.5 million in housing aid for the City's poor and mentally ill because the City's Housing Agency failed to follow federal regulations for such grants.

That money, the L.A. Times reports, is intended for the homeless:

"The federal money is part of a program called Shelter-Plus-Care. It provides money for housing and services such as counseling for homeless people suffering from mental illness, HIV/AIDS, or chronic problems with alcohol and drugs. The program typically provides long-term apartments, not short-term beds in homeless shelters."

Now, do you seriously think this kind of thing would happen if we had a competent, full-time mayor on the job, supervising the city's agencies? Me, neither.

Villaraigosa spends too much time promoting himself, and not enough time doing the job for which he is paid, and paid well.

If you want a competent Mayor who will take the job seriously and work full time, I'm your man. Visit MooreIsBetter.com and contribute today. If you don't take action to change the City, you can't complain when it continues to decline.

This is great!

We go from ZD begging for gas money, coffee money and food money to Walter looking for campaign funds.

Well, Walter, at least you make some sense and don't rant. You'd probably make a pretty good Mayor. The thing is, Antonio is going to win in the primary, whether or not you are in or out.

Why don't you run for something else a bit less ambitious first?

Even Antonio ran for the Assembly and City Council, and he served on the MTA. Ronald Reagan ran for SAG President. What have you done in the way of public service?

My credentials and experience are set forth at my website, MooreIsBetter.com.

If you keep electing career politicians -- as opposed to people who have worked and lived in the real world -- L.A. will continue its downward spiral.

I don't want a "career" in politics. I have a career. I want to fix this city and get back to my life. The only office that would enable me to fix the city is the office for which I'm running.

This is an example of the mayor's grant people and thier ineptness. There are many other grants that are going to go back to the feds because of the mayor's office.
