Mayor Sam's Hot Sheet for Wednesday

Cha-ching! That's what certain elements of the business community are bound to say when their girl Tamar Galatzan takes office on the school board later this summer. Construction contracts here we come! (You do realize that is why the Mayor had her run, why his friends put millions into the campaigns. Did you really think it was about reform? If the LAUSD wasn't building lots of schools and doling out lots of contracts none of these guys would even know what the LAUSD is!)

Click read more to well, uh, read more.

About 200 people showed up to a hearing Tuesday on the MacArthur Park May Day Madness and to blast the LAPD and Chief William Bratton, many urging that Bratton resign. Why none of them were calling for Villaraigosa's resignation as well (oh come on, that's not why, what you're thinking, I heard you, hmmm, is it?). One pro-border reform speaker had the best line of the day, calling the May Day "protest" a "politically correct pity party."

Chief Bratton will appear on Patt Morrisson's radio show Tuesday afternoon on KPCC-FM.

Hermandad Mexicana Latinoamericana (HML) and the Mexican American Political Association (MAPA) will join Speaker Fabian Nunez and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in a Thursday night march to MacArthur Park in support of illegal immigration. (Anyone notice the error in their press release?)

The City is looking at one source for cash to solve some of its budget woes: steal it from Neighborhood Councils. Greg Nelson at CityWatch reports that when the Councils were set up, they were told they could roll over their annual funding for three years (City Council offices can rollover their funding indefinitely). So - Councils that were frugal and banked their dough could be hurt. And like City Agencies fearful of their next year's funding being cut, the Councils may be forced to spend like a drunken sailor to survive. Terrible.

If you haven't checked out the "Recall Jack Weiss" website yet do it. The site itself is probably good enough reason to support turfing out the controversial 5th District Councilman.

The Foothill Cities Blog is getting a lot of juice following the inane actions of hired gun City "Attorney" Arnold Glassman-Alvarez who gestapo like tried to take FC to the gallows for daring to criticize the City Manager. Bloggers and journalists all over came to the support of FC. Indeed, even good old Mayor Sam has been contacted for interviews on the subject by local reporters.

Wendy Greuel's e-mail blast is posted for your convenience at Mayor Sam 2. Her opening comments sound an awful lot like someone running for Controller. Wendy also has some excellent free food for y'all on Thursday at some Orange Line station (her press release didn't say which one) and on Saturday at her picnic at Valley Plaza Park.

And finally, a blogger named Rambling Bob gives a history of "Ladies of the Evening" in the old west. One of the legendary ones even lived into the early 1950s here in LA.

Zuma once again great public comment yesterday telling clowncil about the corruption at Playa Vista. You should look at the tapes from last year and see how much you have grown in your speeches and investigations doing your homework. One criticism though, stop hanging out with losers like Matt Down and Mike Hunt. You will lose credibility "guilt by association" with these morons. They aren't as smart as you and no one respects them.

Good for Budget & Finance. Finally some balls where they're needed.

....The committee put a hold on funding about $13.5 million in new anti-gang programs — including money for a gang czar and staff — proposed by the mayor, saying it wants to vet the programs further before fully funding them. The mayor's office said it intended to push for the funding.

Mayor Sam I can't see the error in the immigration release. Do tell!

These damn illegals don't have a permit to have this march so since they're use to breaking the law they'll do it anyway. Will our midget mayor be back in town for this? Gregory Rodriguez has an excellent opinion piece in LA Slimes stating this marches are actually hurting the illegal immigration issue.

Let's see how many Beaudrys and Belmonts we end up with this time. I wonder if Eli Broad has any more buildings he wants to sell the district. :(

I'd love to get over it, but I've seen this movie, I know how it ends.

Walter, if city council approves the budget putting a hold on the gang programs is there anything the Mayor can do to over ride their vote to fund them?

Post election request. Take down those yard signs!

The Bonilla Campaign will spend today taking down their signs and request all others to do the same.

Some of you still have them up from the last election.

If we miss any, let us know at drhassoc@earthlink.net.

MayorSam, I've always believed AV had a split personality, now it's factual! He can ACTUALLY be on two different coasts at the same time; two different cities at once: LA and NY... or maybe he has a lookalike (brrr... wouldn't that be nauseating!).
