Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Friday
The LA City Council has taken steps to further prevent development of new, much needed housing in Los Angeles. An LA Times editorial takes the Clowncil to task for expanding so called "re-location assistance" which could give nearly $15,000 each to evicted tenants and attempting to extend rent control in possible violation of state law. Council members Wendy Greuel, Janice Hahn, Tom LaBonge, Bill Rosendahl and Eric Garcetti voted against the relocation assistance scam. Councilman Tony Cardenas was absent and is apparently the swing vote when the matter comes before council for a final vote next Wednesday. I urge Cardenas and Councilman Bernard Parks (who has shown respect for private property rights in the past) to vote against this affordable housing killer bill.
A pro-John Edwards blog announces that Councilman Herb Wesson has endorsed the Presidential candidate and will be taking a high level post with the Edwards campaign in California.
A poll is showing that Assemblymember Karen Bass could be the leading candidate for the 25th State Senatorial district. The only hitch to that is Bass has not yet announced her intention to run. Those who have declared include Assemblyman Mervyn Dymally and former Assembly members Rod Wright and Jerome Horton.
First it was "toilet to tap," now it's "shit to shine." The City of Los Angeles has begun construction of a plant on Terminal Island that will convert biosolids to electrical power. Mayor Villaraigosa told Channel 2 news the plant is "...green and it will earn us green."
The LA Weekly looks at a proposal to invest millions of dollars in city employee pension funds in housing projects, many of which may be built by politically connected developers such as former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Henry Cisneros. Oh what a tangled web we weave.

I wish someone would do a thread on the drunk illegal who killed the director of "A Christmas Story" and his son. Tragic -- and all the moreso as the killer shouldn't have even been here.

I think that LAWeekly link may be in error...

LA Weekly has a great story on Rocky filing charges against the company Muerelo owns for not having permits to demolish in downtown. Muerelo made the biggest campaigns $$$ to Antonio.
Cedillo should be ashamed of himself wanting to give illegals drivers license when they are driving drunk, no insurance and killing police officers like all the ones who have killed Sheriff's and been extradited back here. When will these stupid Latino politicans learn?

doesn't Herb Wesson have a job?

If you work for the City, and hope to collect a pension some day, you NEED to read the L.A. Weekly story, because you, my civil servant friend, are now being screwed even worse than taxpayers to benefit special interests.
And may I just say something good about the City for a change -- or perhaps DWP is responsible for this? Using human waste to generate power is a GREAT idea! Turning waste into an asset -- pun intended -- is so brilliant I wish I had thought of it. We can and should, by the way, do the same thing with cow manure. Anyway, to whoever thought of that, I say "Great work!"

why is it that the LA Times will say that the drunk driver who killed 2 on PCH is "a native of Mexico" and "does not have documentation of legal U.S. residency" but they won't say he's an "illegal alien?"

Walter, you are absolutely right.
This city is getting raped left and right by the Villariagosa Gangbang crew.

Cisneros and Antonio are one and the same. Short Chicanos with a chip on their shoulders. Both lied their way into becoming mayors of major cities. Both were starstruck by national politicians. Both worked for Eli Broad. And abandoned their families after playing up in their campaings that they were both sound family men. And both left their Mexican women for white women. All that is left is for Antonio to be convicted of perjury - it will happen.

Yea $10.00x1000 I would say so.Have an open mind unless you work for times and vist this blog to get your stories.

A lot of blogs have posted the LA Slimes has lost more readership then any other newspaper. They need to get their act together. They are extremely bias and will never use the term "illegal" although that's what they are.
Antonio and Henry Cisneros are the biggest womanizers. They couldn't get a decent woman if they tried. They go after sleazy, slutty types and without their titles no one would give them a second look. Besides rumor all over the city is there's a couple of Latino politicians who have been playing "the low down" with eachother. You know saying they're not gay but having sex with men.

broad sheet newspapers make their money from advertising, both display and classified.
The cost at the box doesn't even cover the ink in the printing.
I like the idea, but forget any visions of crippling a media giant with that tactic.
