Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Wednesday

We've received reports that there was an accident between a Metro Orange Line bus and an automobile Saturday, near the vicinity of Balboa Boulevard in Van Nuys. There is nothing in news reports that I can find. Has anyone heard about this?

The San Fernando Valley Business Journal reports that members of various Valley based business organizations met with businessmen from Mexico. Apparently the high level meeting is leading to the sale of more dairy products from south of the border in the Valley. The article refers to the Valley individuals as "business officials." Is the same type of logic that leads newspapers to call Jack Kyser an economist?

The Daily Breeze is encouraging more activities like Mayor V's DC Junket. We do too, as long as the taxpayers don't get stuck with the bill.

The LA City Council is wary to accept a $50,000 donation to the LAPD from tobacco company Philip Morris. The money would fund efforts to investigate the sale of counterfeit cigarettes in Los Angeles. Councilman Bernard Parks says the donation is similar to funds from the film industry to investigate pirated DVDs. The LAPD could use the money, shame on the Council for not letting them accept the donation.

Yes, the idiot that hit the Orange Line bus made it into the Sunday paper as a news brief. Bus accidents make it into some paper every week, but unless someone is dead or loses a body part, it isn't considered news.

Yikes, I went to that meeting with the guys from Mexico. They have a big cheese company. They want to meet folks here so they can expand their business. They also want to promote economic activity in their area.

There guys also presented at the San Fernando Chamber of Commerce installation this past Thursday.

We don't get guys coming out to fish for business leads out in the valley on such a level, so here there are.

If they make some connections, great. Their cheese and treats were good. Anyone want the videos? We have three which are headed for the circular file.
