Friday Blog Bits
Over at MS2 I respond to comments pro and con to my slam on the Mayor's "Big Sunday" volunteer show.
LA CityNerd (who is he/she?) has a very good primer on the city budget process.
At LAist, media mogul David Geffen is negotiating with Sam Zell, the new owner of the Tribune Company, over purchasing the LA Times. Looks like Zuma Dogg's favorite Yoda, Eli Broad, apparently pissed Zell off and its advantage Geffen for being a nice guy.
When I saw the headline for this post, I thought they were talking about the Westside White Guy.
This sounds like fun! LAist reviews one of the last remaining drive-in movie theaters in the City of Industry. Go there now before someone turns it into condos (though that is their right if they want, I would get a kick out of owning a drive in theater.)
And finally a bright new star on the blog-LA-sphere goes by the handle of Buttercup. I don't agree with all of her liberal politics, but she writes very well. A delightful piece about wine tasting can be found here.
