Mayor Sam's Blogbits for Thursday

I've never figured out leftist logic (yes an oxymoron I know). Some goofy socialist blog is opposed to proposed MTA fare hikes. These hikes (about 50 cents more for a one way trip) will "destroy the economic viability of low-income Black and Latino and immigrant families, create significant increase in respiratory disease, contribute to, rather than reduce, global warming." Will they also send more troops to Iraq? Put that in there too.

Lots more after the leap!

More goofy leftism from the capital of goofy leftism: San Francisco. Some old blowhard is bitching about consolidation of local papers. San Francisco has more newspapers than most cities and as it newspapers are going the way of the buggy whip. Maybe this guy better call Kevin Roderick.

More homes about to be nabbed by the LAUSD. This time it's in Echo Park.

Send some dough to the Westside White Guy and you MIGHT just get tickets to Disney Hall. Send dough to Mayor Sam and Zuma Dogg and we'll continue our mission to keep government transparent (but maybe we can work out a deal for a ZD DVD or Mayor Sam's weight loss tips).

That lefty blog is only wrong in its point of attack.

When I ride our busses---which I do a few times every week---I see people who cannot afford a penny more for the monthly pass, let alone a doubling. And the biggest reason they can't afford a fare hike is because they can't afford their housing anymore. And the reason they can't afford their housing anymore is because all the missing rungs on LA's housing ladder are at the bottom---indeed, now the whole bottom half of the ladder is missing, steadily gamed away by local pols ever since the beginning of Riordan's mayoralty.

A day pass---NINE DOLLARS??!!! What a freaking joke.

I agree. You need to call the MTA board members and make your comments known. Email works for the main record, but nothing beats targeting the individual members, like Villaraigosa, Parks, and the five supervisors. Make them quirm.
