Dodgers Parking Woos Becoming A Local Issue

Since our beloved Los Angeles Dodgers were leverage, err, purchase by the McCourt Family, aka, "BOSTON PARKING LOT ATTENDANT" and the "SCREAMIN MEANEE" for Frank and Jamie respectively(nicknames courtesy of T.J. Simers). Their tenure as owners have been marred by one P.R. misstep after another. whether it was the firing of broadcaster Ross Porter. Removing the names from the back of the jerseys. Rising ticket prices. And not the least, a public perception that they will do whatever to make a buck.

But one would think that the McCourts could at least run a Parking Lot. As all Angelinos Sports Fans all know. The Dodgers attempts to revamp the Parking procedures at Chavez Ravine have been a disaster. Now the Dodgers in response, are proposing to reopen the "SCOTT AVENUE" Gate. This gate was shuttered years ago after complaints from community members in Elysian Park and Echo Park. This idea will surely go over well in the above mention communities. Plus the area councilmen Eric Garcetti and Ed Reyes are being drawn in to this situation.

One solution that has not been address has been the missing link of public transit. As a youth, we use to take the "RTD 177 line" directly into the stadium complex. the buses would then assemble at the end of the game next to the Left Field Bleachers Ticket Kiosks, to take riders to connections downtown.

The Greater Echo Park Neighborhood Council is to address this issue tonight at their 7:00 PM meeting at the Barlow Hospital just north of the Sunset entrance. The Dodgers will be their, presenting their plan for the "SCOTT AVENUE GATE" at this meeting. But they also state that they can unilaterally re-open the gate without prior consultation. This will not go over well in the local neighborhoods.

Since Dodger Staduim is just around the corner and in the back yard of Rose Hills, I attend many games. This year already I have been invited to 3 games (can never get enough of the action).

Parking is that biggest topic we all talk about even over the content of the game. I will wait at least a couple of months before I go back. (PARKING IS TERRIBLE)

Yes, this is the first year of the change, but it should not last more than a couple of months to reconfigure. FIX IT SOON

The Red/Gold lines end at Union Station which is a short shuttle ride or very long walk (uphill) to the Stadium. But there is no shuttle service into the stadium. Why is no one talking about this as a way of easing the parking and traffic problems?

Because only 300 people each game used the bus/shuttle service...it was a serious waste of money
