Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Wednesday

CityWatch reports that Deputy Mayor Larry Frank said he was blindsided by the latest command from Interim Department of Neighborhood Empowerment General Manager Lisa "If you will" Sarno making it mandatory that Neighborhood Councils spend half of their city funding on outreach and community improvements.

An Oct. 15 trial date was set Tuesday for a discrimination lawsuit in which two white Los Angeles fire captains allege that they were unfairly punished for their roles in feeding dog food to black firefighter Tennie Pierce. Captains Chris Burton and John Tohill said they were suspended and transferred from a Westchester fire station without due process after Pierce accused them of the fire house prank in October 2004.

The Daily News reports that the Los Angeles Children's Museum - under construction in Lakeview Terrace - is severly underfunded and in need of more cash. Its been this dead, Republican Mayor's opinion that Lakeview Terrace is geographically a bad place to have located the museum. Nothing against the community but its about as far from the rest of the Valley or Los Angeles as it could be. It would be like putting it in San Pedro or Chatsworth. How the hell are school kids supposed to get there? It would have made far more sense to make it part of the development around the North Hollywood Metro Station or even in the Sepulveda Recreation Center along the Orange Line route.

School Board Member David Tokofsky has announced his endorsement of 7th Council District candidate Oscar Mendoza. Mendoza is set to join fellow candidates Monica Rodriguez and Richard Alarcon in a debate Friday evening at Olive Vista School in Sylmar.

Since they can't get anyone new to take on the post, the LA County Board of Supervisors is considering beefing up the position of county Chief Administrative Officer to that of Chief Executive Officer. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to stop searching for a replacement for retiring chief administrator David E. Janssen and rehire him through 2007 in the new role.

Venice area had a huge meeting about opening St. Joseph homeless center where resources would be available. But the Venice residents and businesses want them to stay in downtown LA in Skid Row. Its ok for the homeless to cause blight to downtown but Venice doesn't want to do its share with the problem neither do the other communities. So what's the answer?

Good morning ladies and gentlemen (peers through fog):
It’s settled in good and thick this morning, has it not? While the mist in some parts of the city is thicker than others, I would suspect that the fog is its densest in the Catorce Quarter, savvy? But that’s not what I am thinking of. My thoughts run to those of Dame Sarno and her command to neighborhood councils to spend their monies in a matter that she sees fit.

Tell me something, Dame Sarno. Did your mum ever buy you a bra that was several sizes too small when you were growing up? A woman’s bosoms are hard to gauge during that gangly stage that you surely went through. But back to the question at hand. Did you ever have to wear a bra that was too small? Took your breath away, didn’t it. Or were you ever given an allowance and told that you could only spend it on what the giver wanted you to spend it on? You worked hard for that money, didn’t you and by God you should be able to spend it as you see fit, right? Do you know what would happen to me if I told the crew how to spend their hard earned monies? (Sucks in breath and tries to speak) I would sound a lot like you would in a bra that was too small. I would also find myself hung by my own shoulder strap.

I have a plan. What say you about sending Dame Sarno a size 34A bra? After all, if you’re going to be in a tight squeeze, you might as well look good. And while we’re at it, send Don Jose some of those pink While You Were Out message slips. His staff is apparently otherwise occupied, savvy?

Diversity vs Unity

If the United States is ever to be defeated on the home front it will come from within.

It will not be a frontal assault but rather a covert attack using the weapons of political correctness.

One such weapon is diversity; a well meaning idea whose time has come and gone. With massive street marches and parades, all claiming to represent pride in ones culture and or life style, the ‘me” generation has become the “we” generation.

Not bad until you see that the “we”, does not include you!

Carrying flags of other countries and posting them above the flag of the United States, groups claim allegiance to their race, to there sexual preference or to another country.

Well meaning politicians seize upon the moment to further their own agendas. Subversive groups intent on the demise of this nation have seized upon the illegal immigration issue to develop and promote division and instill fear and foster hatred.

This moment in time is critical. It calls for UNITY. A Nation divided can not stand. Divide and Conquer is not only a political strategy it is a tactic of guerilla warfare.

The first casualty of Political Correctness is the TRUTH. The second is JUSTICE. The third is FREEDOM.

Reason the Children's Museum is where it is is that this is what Alex Padilla wanted. And, as Council President, he got what he wanted. And even got one of his (former) staff members the job of executive director....

GOOD BLOGGING MORNING !!!

OUTTAKES FROM THE RED SPOT INSTITUTE

1. "WITNESSES DIFFER WITH POLICE":
I guess the "CHOLO CITIZENS" of Ramona Gardens took the "right to assemble" too far. Ramona Gardens has been "Ground Zero" for years in the on-going saga that is the gang problem in CD 14. Recently, LAPD officers have been shot at and had their cars vandelized by gang members. The sale of narcotic is rampant. Now the latest change in tactics by the hazard gang is to bring in the "CHOLO FAVORITE ATTORNEY", Luis Carrillo to represent the family of the gangmember who died in police custody. Councilman Huizar, to his credit has brought in overtime dollors for LAPD to surpress gang activity in this problem area.
But the overall solution lies with a radical change how goverment approaches the issue of Public Housing. Goverment needs to be held accountible for allowing Public Housing Projects to become "GANG MADRASAS" These Madrasas have their own set of laws and value systems. Giving ownership opportunities instead of a subsidize living may be the change that is needed.

2. "SKID ROW STEVE ON GRAND AVENUE"
Props to Steve "SKID ROW" Lopez for his column on "66 million to re-examine Grand avenue".
THOUGHT TO PONDER, If Eli Broad was sucessful in buying the "LA ANTONIA TIMES". Would a acolumn such as this see the light of day ?? More the reason to keep the "OLD GREY LADY ON SPRING STREET" under the control of "BIG TRIBUNE".

3. "IS LOS ANGELES A COMMUNIST CITY-STATE ??"
Great Op-Ed on the "LIFE AND TIMES BLOG OF WEST L.A.", by old time scribe Bill Boyarsky. Boyarsky opines that the un-questioned public handouts to CONRADE ANSHULTZ and CONRADE BROAD, is the same tactics use by the "CHI COMMS" to bring in Capital Investments to China. We, "JOE AND JOAN PUBLIC" have no say in our tax dollors being use to enrich projects of the select few. Capitalism, uninpeded, has a risk factor that act as a "Check and Balance" to safeguard us from Boondoogle Projects.

Government admits lying about jailed border agents
Inspector confronted on Capitol Hill, says promised 'proof' does not exist

Rep. John Culberson, R-Texas
A Department of Homeland Security official admitted today the agency misled Congress when it contended it possessed investigative reports proving Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean confessed guilt and declared they "wanted to shoot some Mexicans" prior to the incident that led to their imprisonment.

The admission came during the testimony of DHS Inspector General Richard L. Skinner before the Homeland Security Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee, according to Michael Green, press secretary for Rep. John Culberson, R-Texas.

Culberson was questioning Skinner about a meeting DHS officials had Sept. 26 with him and three other Republican congressman from Texas, Reps. Ted Poe, Michael McCaul and Kenny Marchant.

WND previously reported that at that meeting the DHS Inspector General's office asserted it had documentary evidence Ramos and Compean: confessed to knowingly shooting at an unarmed suspect;
stated during the interrogation they did not believe the suspect was a threat to them at the time of the shooting; stated that day they "wanted to shoot a Mexican";
were belligerent to investigators
;destroyed evidence and lied to investigators.

Under questioning by Culberson, Skinner admitted DHS did not in fact have investigative reports to back up the claims: "The person who told you that misinformed you," Skinner reportedly replied.

This prompted a startled and angry response from the congressman.

"You lied to me and you lied to all of us," Culberson charged. "Your office tried to paint a picture of Ramos and Compean as dirty cops, and now you come before this committee and tell us you never had the information to back up those claims."

Ramos and Compean began prison sentences last month after their actions in the shooting of a drug smuggler who was granted immunity to testify against them.

Responding to Skinner's testimony yesterday, Poe said it "explains why DHS has been stonewalling Congress."

"DHS didn't turn over the reports to us to back up their September 26 accusations for one simple reason – the reports never existed," the Texas congressman said.

"Why did it take DHS four months to admit their error?" he asked. "I wonder how much more has DHS told the public and Congress about Ramos and Compean that simply isn't true?"
Poe said he's determined to get to the bottom of DHS's claim.
"I expect this new revelation will lead to a lot more questions before we're done," he said.
Andy Ramirez, who has been involved with the case as chairman of Friends of the Border Patrol, told WND the DHS's actions "represent obstruction of justice, and they should be held in contempt of Congress, and, if possible, prosecuted to the full extent of the law."

"This admission today is yet more proof of how they are willing to distort the facts, as I have charged all along, in order to ensure a conviction," he said.
