8:00 a.m.: The Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, and Southern Christian Leadership Conference will host a breakfast in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is scheduled to attend. UA Local 250, 18355 S. Figueroa St.

9:00 a.m.: The Los Angeles City Council's Public Works Committee will meet. Agenda includes a discussion on fixing the city's sidewalks. Room 1060, City Hall, 200 N. Spring St.

10:00 a.m.: The Los Angeles City Council will meet. Agenda includes continued consideration of an appeal of the mayor's removal of Guerdon Stuckey as general manager of the Animal Services Department. Council chamber, third floor, City Hall, 200 N. Spring St.

12:00 p.m.: Mayor Villaraigosa will hold a news conference with Governor Schwarzenegger, who will sign legislation related to funding of projects on the San Diego (405) Freeway. Caltrans construction site, 2120 Beloit Ave.
