Gardena: Sic Chick On LAUSD

The City Council of Gardena has unanimously voted to support City Controller Laura Chick's effort to audit the Los Angeles Unified School District.

"As I have said from the beginning, this is not just about the City of Los Angeles*this is about all of the students in LAUSD, many who come from other cities. I am gratified by the support of Mayor Tanaka and the entire Gardena City Council. Gardena's crucial support adds great momentum to my effort to bring transparency and accountability to the LAUSD," said Chick.

Last month Chick made an offer to the LAUSD to conduct an already planned audit of the LAUSD's administration. Recently, Chick requested copies of all recent audits of the district, as well as the status of their implementation.

The City of Gardena which has 8,678 students enrolled in the LAUSD, issued the resolution, "Urging the Los Angels Unified School District to invite the City of Los Angeles Controller to conduct an audit of LAUSD central bureaucracy and to identify resources that could be re-dedicated to students in the classroom."

Isn't this the city that just escaped bankruptcy?

this is the city that tried to have its own insurance company and in the end, the city went bankrupt. Do they want L.A. to annex Gardena and bail them out? Does L.A. need a 16th CD? Who would move there to represent that district. Lord knows all the usual suspects will try to say that they live in Gardena, or 'dena as we call it.
Gardena schools are already LAUSD schools, and they use L.A. County Sheriffs and Fire Dept. resources.
Mayor Tanaka is kissing ass now so he won't have to later.
What is councilman Steve Bradford's take on this issue? Or should I say soon to be Assemblyman Bradford? He's by far one of the most smartest persons in 'dena politics. OOOH, then L.A will have the Hustler store and the Hustler Casino in its boundaries.

Nice of the City of Gardena to support the City of LA's paying for an audit.

Someone needs to call their so called Mayor and ask how much the City of Gardena is willing to pay and/or contribute to the City of LA's controller doing an audit that will also benefit the City of Gardena.

Bet there will be a reconsideration motion in that beautiful City of Gardena !!

What a joke.
