Slam An Elected: "Wacko Jacko" Weiss

This begins a new regular feature here on the Sister City, "Slam An Elected." This gives you, our reader the opportunity to take a shot at any local elected. We'll post them pretty much verbatim as long as they are not slanderous or too over the top. Send your items to mayorsam@aol.com.

Our first victim finds one of our readers slamming Councilman Jack Weiss for not staying on top of who's who among the LAPD brass:
Will someone please tell idiot Jack Weiss that SHARON PAPA OF LAPD IS A Assistant CHIEF. That moron kept referring to her in council today as a deputy chief. Shit, he's Chair of Public Safety and doesn't even know the rank of the top brass of LAPD. No wonder people posted here what a moron he was.
Jack, did you make a note?

Heaven help the rank and file with Weiss as chair of public safety committee. For being a former prosecutor you would think he had some intelligence. Time and time again in council he embarrasses himself with the dumbest comments and stupid questions.

This pic is hilarious, he looks like the guy from the "Gong Show." This program is from the late 70's (please correct me if I stated wrong decade).

I think Jack Weiss is an idiot. He does nothing more than kiss Antonio's ass. He thinks he is the guru when it comes to Homeland Security but in fact does not know shit. He is my least favorite of the City Council members. God help us everytime he opens that fat trap to hell that he calls a mouth.

Oh Come on now Chief...you've written a ream about Pacheco.

I think we can have fun with the electeds once in a while for their goofs. If they can't handle it, they shouldn't be in the business.

Back in our day, they even talked about our mothers!

City Attorney. Ha! Unfortunately all that ass kissing has earned him ZERO name ID. Everyone at City Hall thinks he's a jerk. He's going back to private practice.

Thanks Mayor Sam,

I was wondering why those posters had posted all the mortgage stuff. We have enough of that business at every corner and the media commercials.

OK, here's my take, for what it is worth, Pilgrims:

Jack Weiss did Los Angeles a great service by beating Tom Hayden for the 5th District Council seat.

I cannot imagine the damage that Hayden could have done to LA and to our credibility in the world. For that act, I cut him a lot of slack.

Jack is a stubborn guy. I have had issues with him, and he has refused to negotiate in the face of clear defeat. However, to his credit, he comes afterward with an outstreached hand and a willingness to move on to other issues.

He is not stupid, to the contrary, he is very smart.

He has a good home life and family, and aspires to be City Attorney. Between him and Hertzberg, I'll take Jack every time.

Jack has a close relationship with the Mayor, and he has earned that trust. No one gave it to him.

He has chits coming; what is important to watch is how he uses them. No one can go to the well all the time, and if he is judicious, he will be City Attorney, maybe even more.

Don't get in his way unless you've got the goods. But, if you do, and you win, he'll end up respecting you. Good quality.

He will not carry a grudge like a certain Councilwoman who's brother just changed jobs recently.

On balance, I'll take him over many others on the Council who simply lack the gray matter.

Papa was absolutely worthless at the make-believe MTA Police Department before she was anointed an LAPD Officer and escalated for purely political reasons. Yes MayorSam, I said worthless. Maybe someday the Sheriffs Department will take over LAPD and fire the whole group of louses that head the LAPD. The same cowards that ran with their tails between their legs when the Rodney King riots hit LA.

Actually, Jack was not incorrect. There is no rank of assistant chief of police in Los Angeles. They are all deputy chiefs. Assistant chief is a position, not a rank. See: http://www.lacity.org/per/perspecs/2262.pdf

Per the LAPD

Regardless of the symantecs, for a wanna be city atorney of his stature he should call them by the title they recognize her as, and if he's as smart as you all say then he should already know this!

Maybe we should have a councilman that can work with LAPD at their events instead of Weiss. It is apparent that he might be budding heads with LAPD representatives. The mix up if any, should not be a big deal, but if he is not liked, it will always be a big deal.

Why did Huizar get endorsements from the council so quickly after AV endorsed?

Janet, I agree with your observation. It sounds weird of council endorsing so quickly and would it be the same if he was not endorsed by AV in the first place?

No Life Without Sunshine
Antonio backs off a campaign promise to close hated Valley dump
by ROBERT GREENE

A man named Sam Yorty once became mayor of Los Angeles by standing on the steps of City Hall and dumping a load of garbage to illustrate how inconvenient it was for the average housewife to recycle. That led to three decades of stuffing our landfills with recyclable glass, metal, plastic and paper. In the 1980s, city leaders planned to burn trash to produce electricity but discovered that the people of South Los Angeles were not excited about having a huge incinerator built in their neighborhood. So dumps in the Northeast San Fernando Valley continued to fill up — until activists like young Alex Padilla worked to close Lopez Canyon. That gave new life to the massive Sunshine Canyon landfill, a few miles to the west.

Now we recycle again, although not enough, and are talking about burning trash to produce energy, but haven’t done anything about it. That brings us to this week.
Begin with the proposition that Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa did something pretty smart, and pretty good, when he talked the operators of the massive Sunshine Canyon landfill, at the northern edge of the San Fernando Valley, into tacking another six months onto the city’s contract-renewal deadline. Now no one in City Hall really has to bite the bullet on the huge dump or on the contract with the shady garbage-disposal company until February, when city wonks presumably will have a better idea whether there really are alternative places to fling our 3,600 tons (every day) of junk. Hold in abeyance the question of what good those extra six months will do for us that the last decade of pondering could not. For now, let’s just say the delayed deadline is a good thing.

Jack Weiss is an idiot. To 8:54 anon Assistant Chief is a rank not a position. Why do you think they get stars??? There are 3 Assistant Chief's on LAPD. Sharon Pappa is a very smart, strong woman. City Council disrespected Bratton. All anyone has to do is check the city agendas and see how many of their committee meetings have been cancelled in the last 2 months. Its their damn job to go to these meetings.

Jack made a complete ass out of himself last year with the STanley Miller shooting. As Bratton was giving an update to council (I'm sure Stanley's atty was listening) Weiss was asking the most sensitive questions knowing the cameras and media were rolling. That shows his lack of intelligence having been a former prosecutor
