Oh, Sherry!

No, we're not talking about the Steve Perry love song of the 80s, but taking a look at that lovable local political pundit who tries to make Channel 9 something like MSNBC, none other than Sherry Bebitch Jeffe.

This is in inspired by the recent article about LA Observed's Kevin Roderick in the LA Independent (given a fun review by Joseph Mailander at Martini Republic) in which Jeffe said that she didn't know bloggers other than Roderick "from Adam" so she assumed they had little impact. When writing or speaking, Jeffe says she always turns first to LA Observed.

So we thought it might be fun to take a look at what some of the blogs Jeffe doesn't know from Adam are reporting today as a public service to her:

Mayor Sam breaks news about the LA Police Commission Appointments. Of course we had this back on June 16th, when LA Observed was informing you about new restaruant menus.

Martini Republic has all the latest news the learned anti-war liberal is looking for.

The folks at LA Voice have the return of the Wendy Greuel Sherman Oaks bridge wars - a great tale of the battle between the old and stuck in a rut and the young and up comers in LA. Lots of political subtext here, Shery.

And back at the ranch?

Gone fishin'! Happy reading, Sherry!

PS: We don't begrudge old Kev' taking a day off here and there, blogging is hard work. Lets just not present his site as the be all-end all when it comes to news in LA. There are many, many other bloggers working just as hard - if not harder.

Never heard of Noel Park either!

I think bloggers are at last onto Roderick's policy of mentioning only those who give him favorable publicity and trashing those who dare to criticize him. He comes off like he's on some high moral ground but I really doubt it. What he wrote about Mailender when they were pissed at each other was compltely dirty and an insult to Mailender's friends too. I know Joe Mailender, who is one of the most polite and well-educated people you can ever meet, Ivy League I think, though he would be the first to tell you himself that he might be a little bit crazy too. A writer should be anyway, and Mailender is certainly way more interesting than Roderick on any day of the week.

Noel -- you should check out LAobserved. It's the semi-official political website in the city. Not as snarky as mayorsam or that idiot over at martini, but reliable.

I don't get it. Why are you hating on Roderick?

You guys remind me of Mac users. "We have a better system, Windoze sux."

All the while microsoft kept growing and gaining market share.

The Sister City need to do the same. Focus on product and advertise to gain market share.

Yea - Microsoft gained market share not by focusing on the product but just by clubbing everyone over the head any way possible.

Kind of like LA Observed - "We are the blog of record - no deviation is allowed!"

Maybe Mayor Sam will invite the iPod!
