Team Pacheco's Newest E-mail

When trying to offer the olive branch to Antonio doesn't work, try the SEIU and Lisa Sarno.

Here's the text of his newest e-letter:

City Union Leader & CD 14 Resident Target of Terrorist Attack!!

Julie Butcher, General Manager for the City’s SEIU Local 347, was the victim of terrorist act last week – her car was burned in front of her home. Everything, so far, points to this act being an attack on her for her civic leadership for the working families of Los Angeles.

I have called Julie and shared with her my complete shock that someone would commit such an act against her and everything she represents – a committed voice for those that deliver our City Services.

I join in condemning this act of terrorism against one of our own from CD 14.

If anyone knows anything about the circumstances of this act please contact LAPD Northeast Division (213) 485-2563.

Dear Neighbors:

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Sarno as Caretaker for the 14th Council District. She will remain in this position until a new Councilmember is selected to represent the 14th Council District.

As my Deputy Chief of Staff over the past two years Lisa has the experience and institutional knowledge to ensure there is continuity in constituent services and capital improvement projects. I will continue to work closely with Lisa on all District issues.

Thank you for the opportunity you have given me to serve this City. I look forward to continuing my service to the 14th District as Mayor of the City of Los Angeles.

Very Truly Yours,

ANTONIO R. VILLARAIGOSA

MAYOR, CITY OF LOS ANGELES

SEIU LOCAL 347
Board of Directors Resolution
Condemning Act of Terrorism
Honorable Friends,

The attached resolution passed by the Board of Directors of SEIU Local 347 concerns an unfortunate and dangerous incident involving our General Manager. Julie Butcher's car was burned in front of her home at 4 a.m. last Wednesday. A can of gas was left next to the car. The police and fire departments are investigating, but we have no other information. We held off on informing you in the hopes of having more facts to clarify the incident. Nevertheless, we are aware the any attack on our General Manager cannot be seen outside of her role as a civic leader and representative of workers. We ask you to condemn the attack, meanwhile, and will inform you as to the progress of the investigations.

SEIU Local 347 Resolution

On July 7, 2005, an act of arson was perpetrated against the vehicle belonging to SEIU Local 347 General Manager Julie Butcher while parked at her home. The Executive Board of SEIU Local 347 takes note of the following facts and circumstances:

1. Julie Butcher has been an indomitable fighter on behalf of SEIU Local 347 members and working families throughout Southern California.

2. Julie Butcher has played a leadership role in the public affairs of the City of Los Angeles and the entire metropolitan region.

3. Julie Butcher has continued as an advocate for SEIU Local 347 members even when such positions have been criticized in the media and other quarters.

4. The circumstances strongly suggest that the arson is linked to Julie Butcher’s position with SEIU Local 347 and advocacy on its behalf.

5. The circumstances strongly suggest that the arson was intended to intimidate and terrorize Julie Butcher.

6. The arson occurred in a densely populated area in the City of Los Angeles and created a serious risk of harm to Julie Butcher, her family and neighbors.

7. The arson is under investigation by the Los Angeles Fire Department and a report has been filed with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Based on the above facts and circumstances, the Executive Board of SEIU Local 347 hereby resolves that:

1. The arson is condemned and is considered as an act of terrorism

2. The arson, although directed against Julie Butcher, is deemed an act against the entire membership of SEIU Local 347.

3. SEIU Local 347 calls upon the Mayor and City Council to condemn this act of terrorism against one of the City’s civic leaders.

4. SEIU Local 347 calls upon all labor unions to condemn this act of terrorism against our Union Sister.

This resolution was enacted on the 8th day of July 2005

How in the sam hill does the deadbeat "daddy" councilmember who abandoned the district after providing nothing in the way of constituent service get the right to name the next lousy guardian?

That ain't right!

When did the Pacheco email go out taking a stand on "terrorism" in CD14? Interesting how just yesterday an anonymous blogger elsewhere on this site said that Nick's opponent "looks like a terrorist." Coincidence?

Does Alex Padilla or the City Council have anything to say on the subject? Or are they going to be rolled by Mayor Villaraigosa? If so, this will be the first step in a long line of lessons Antonio will teach them. Did Mayor AV appoint a caretaker to CD10? Why is CD14 so special?

Lisa Sarno aka Gabbage Patch is the biggest loser in CD14. She is hated throughout the district for her rude, condensending attitude towards constituents. Add to that she's the stupidest person around. She's controlling, obnoxious and a pain in the ass. No one will work with her and if she shows up to any community meetings she will get SLAMMED.

Lisa Sarno...I thought Jennie was getting this post. What is wrong with you people.

Jennie deserves this position more than Lisa. Tell me if I am wrong. I know I am not.

The residents should have their say in who manages the district after the now "Alcalde" has abondoned the post that was once intrusted in him.

Don't be TOO sure, false goddess. I can GUARANTEE she doesn't treat CD14 constituents like human beings however. . . I've been hit by the bitch's rolled up newspaper for DARING to question why things in CD14 take five times as long (minimum) to get completed under AV than they did under Pacheco.

8:46 If you got hit by her rolled up newspaper, she should have been reported against this type of abuse. There is no room for bullying, and if Lisa Sarno is doing, or has done this, we will keep a close eye on her. It is the people's will that she cannot break. If Lisa is human as some say, then we will see how she handles and treats constituents (human beings), if not she will have hell to pay for the wrongdoings to people in our city.

Hmmm...let's see, how about performed about as well as a mayor can? Shown leadership noted across the country. Settled a major labor dispute. Set a tone of inclusiveness and ethics, while energizing city government and giving it a sense of direction. Anything he should have done differently?

Yes, stop lying...it is hard enough we are stuck with him for the next couple of years to hear his lies and manipulations.
