Hahn's ACLU problem
Today we learned that Jim Hahn was a frequent contributor to the ACLU. In fact he consistently contributed to them while receiving their awards, attending their award functions and giving the key-note speech a couple of times.
Now Hahn won't let any comment go without mentioning those 4 letters A-C-L-U.
Question to Hahn -- if the ACLU was good enough for you when you were the City Attorney cracking down on gangs -- why isn't the ACLU good enough for you now?
How can you be for the ACLU and now against it? Without being a flip-flopper yourself.
More questions -- less answers from the Hahn administration.

I even paid for a dinner with AV fundraiser...now I don't want to be anywhere near him or associate with anything he does.

Villaraigosa's "Catholic" Problem...
ADV has a problem. He sends his "younger family members" to expensive Catholic schools, giving that organization a TRUCKload of money every year (plus the open door to the hearts and minds of his most impressionable family members).
Those funds go to support and extend Catholic teachings around the world. Prominent among those teachings are: abortion, infidelity, divorce, and homosexuality (to name just a few things), are VERY wrong -- things ADV's base believes are all either guaranteed "rights" or - at LEAST none of the church's business.
The same church's top leaders just easily and quickly named a new TOP, top leader who even thinks politicians that condone (or even DON'T condemn) several of those same things shouldn't be allowed to take part in the most critical aspects of that church -- its sacraments, i.e., they can't really BE Catholics if they do.
Now THAT's a problem!
How can you support a church that condemns most of the main "pillars" of your secular "faith!"
So much so that you contribute more funds to it, through school payments, than the aggregate of ALL your other personal political contributions. More funds in ONE YEAR even than the entire Hahn clan combined has probably given to the ACLU since Kenny wore a beanie cap to his Frosh hazing.

Report: Airport partners unduly earned $14.6 million-- MIAMI - Four partners of a venture that runs airport duty-free shops have earned more than $14.6 million despite having performed no work, according to a report by the Miami-Dade County inspector general.
The joint venture won a contract at Miami International Airport, and the four partners were brought in to satisfy a requirement for the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program....
Under the program, these partners were picked: Sergio Pino, a major political fund-raiser and tract-home builder; Carole Ann Taylor, a former aide to ex-Commissioner Maurice Ferre; Jorge de Cardenas, a longtime lobbyist who later served time in federal prison for his involvement in a Miami kickback scandal; and Maria Argudin, an assistant city clerk in Miami...."
But despite the partners' repeated promises to do work, they did none, said the report released Tuesday. They simply showed up at quarterly meetings and collected their checks, the report said.
The report shows wholesale contract violations and numerous misrepresentations to the Federal Aviation Administration and the county, which it says "discredit the program at Miami International Airport."
It also finds that the airport staff members failed to monitor the contract as they were required to do and ignored evidence of noncompliance brought to their attention.
The four minority partners acknowledge some errors in complying with program requirements, but deny that they have done no work, according to their attorney, Andres Rivero.

LAT....Villaraigosa Under Fire for Florida Donations
After months of criticizing Mayor James K. Hahn for accepting questionable political donations, mayoral challenger Antonio Villaraigosa found himself answering questions Wednesday about $31,000 in donations to his campaign from workers at two affiliated Florida-based companies.
Although some employees said they supported Villaraigosa, others struggled to explain the donations, sounded confused when told of their donations or declined to answer questions.
Records show that at least 20 employees of a Miami company, Travel Traders LLC, and a related company, S.E. Florida Investments, gave individual donations to Villaraigosa's campaign......
Days after Anderson's second contribution to Villaraigosa, the councilman and three others called for the City Council to review the Airport Commission's decision to extend existing concessions contracts at LAX, rather than seek new bids.
Smith said any notion that Villaraigosa's action was influenced by Anderson's donation was "outrageous."
Amarfio D. Scott said he donated because former Lakers star Earvin "Magic" Johnson supported Villaraigosa. But records show that Scott gave $1,000 on Sept. 28, 2004, and $1,000 on April 1. Johnson did not endorse Villaraigosa until April 11
The paper also reported that another employee expressed confusion about how her donation was recorded.
It is not illegal for multiple employees of one company to donate to a political candidate, but it is illegal for anyone to reimburse employees for their donations.
Even if there was no wrongdoing in Miami, the issue could alter the race's political dynamic, giving Hahn the kind of potent rhetorical ammunition that Villaraigosa has used against him.
Anderson had a one-and-a-half-hour dinner meeting scheduled with Villaraigosa and City Hall lobbyist Art M. Gastelum on Sept. 27, 2004.
The next day, records show, Villaraigosa's campaign received $8,000 in contributions from eight executives and employees of S.E. Florida Investments. That company has the same Miami address as Travel Traders.
Currently, the largest gift and news concession at the Los Angeles airport is held by New Jersey-based Hudson Group, which acquired the North American airport retail business of W.H. Smith in December 2003. Travel Traders took over the hotel shops business from W.H. Smith.
Eighteen Travel Traders employees donated $1,000 each to Villaraigosa and two have donated $2,000 each. Villaraigosa also received $9,000 from employees of S.E. Florida Investments, bringing the total to $31,000. When asked why employees gave money to a campaign 3,000 miles away, he replied, "I honestly don't think I'm the right person to be asking that."
He said he did not know who arranged the campaign to raise money for Villaraigosa and did not have any suggestions about who to contact for more information.

A spokesman for the gift shops company said, "HELL, it's the least we can do for Tony. Do you have ANY idea how many thousands of dollar's HE's spent on 'guilt gifts' in our stores in the past 15-20 years?"

Okay-idots Hahn NEVER said he was against the ACLU. He said That when Antonio Vavoso was president of the ACLU he was against gang injunctions. The issue is not the ACLU but rather the diffrece in stances on the gang injunctions. Infact Hahn said the ACLU is great on certain issues and that he agrees with them on certain issues,BUT NOT when it comes to gangs!
So if Padilla switches that means Hahn only has TWICE as many of ADV's peers on CC endorsing him over the absentee "colleague", instead of THREE TIMES as many.

The timing makes Gamebody Padilla's decision making look piss poor. A true leader would have had the balls to come out when the rest of the city council did. But then of course many people know Gameboy doesn't have the balls cause he "plays on the other team."
Alex Padilla is just doing it because of Miguel. He's been leaning on him pretty hard but this is all hush-hush and behind the scenes. As all of you know, Miguel has been MIA for the mayoral race despite the County Fed endorsing Hahn.
Hey Mayor Sam, you want a scoop. Just spotted, 15 minutes ago, at Lorraine's in Eagle Rock - Tony meeting with Alex Padilla and Tony Cardenas. I guess that endorsement is coming soon. What levels has Alex sunk to try and salvage his failed council presidency. Of course, Cardenas, Alex's pimp, had to be at the meeting to make sure that "his bitch better have his money!"
And you know both Cardenas and Alex won't take a dump before getting the go ahead from James Acevedo. Better calm down on those Acevedo shots now, Mayor Sam. A new low in L.A. Latino politics, just when we thought they couldn't go lower. And it would be so easy to organize a grass root effort to topple all of them.
