Muni Wi Fi
The San Fernando Valley Business Journal reports today that the City of Burbank has turned on the first municipal hotspot in the San Fernando Valley in the Downtown shopping area.
Well this is not exactly true. For some time, the area surrounding Van Nuys City Hall has been a free wi-fi hotspot. Though I do admit the allure of sitting on the curb at Sylvan & Van Nuys Blvd. is not the same as doing it at a cool sidewalk cafe on San Fernando Road, or at Gordon Biersch. I guess you could sit in one of the bail bond offices in the Van Nuys Civic Center and do it.
Oh lord, when are the LA pols ever going to make this a livable city?

Well, unless you believe that "Candidate of Change" horsepucky put out by Mayor Hahn, it starts May 18th and goes into action July 1, 2005.
The new Mayor will be much more likely to take the waste out of the IT budget (as discovered by Laura Chick) and spend it on making LA more user friendly.
Thanks for the softball...

Never,
Too many people have been paid off to keep it like it is.

If by more livable, you mean more easily snooped on or hacked into -- jump down the Wi Fi poop-chute, boys and girls. I'll be waiting to steal your online identities left and right.

Anyoe ever hear of firewqalls and passwords?
Look, anyone can steal an identity; you don't need to do it from us poor folk using a freeby at City Hall...
Go rob the rich in San Marino...

All I want to ask the ADV lovers is if Antonio hasn't done anything in his district how can he possibly run a city? MEAT is yet to answer the post of name one accomplishment of ADV's city council record. Even Padilla had a motion today to keep the assault weapons ban in the city. Antonio has 15 homicides in his district and again he was MIA at council.

THAT'sd because Antonio Villaraigosa is a pathological liar who can't be trusted to do what he says.
Someone prove me wrong, or even try? Blind faith is SUCH a bitch to try and work around, ain't it.
End of story!

Firewalls and passwords?
HA, follow that one around boys and girls -- he'll buy the "chiclets" too.

Anonymous 3:44 p.m. tells it like it is. Sad, but true.
I'm ready for another crack at secession. I mean come on, the people in LA hate the Valley, why do they want to keep it? For the dough I guess. But if something doesn't change soon, it won't be pumping out much dough.

regarding hanging in van nuys, what happened to all the fine massage parlors near the courthouse? Made jury duty at least somewhat worth it.

Remember? The City Attorney got rid of all the massage parlors under pressure from local homeowners associations.
Now they're all hidden. Never gone....
It's probably why we have all these cranky politicians around town.
