Hahn Lacks Punch

HahnIs there inner turnoil in Camp Hahn today? The much anticipated attack ad that everyone is expecting didn't appear. So far, he is keeping his cool, even if he didn't with Mark Coogan yesterday. He did switch ad traffic late yesterday, switching to an edited down version of his Mayor in a Minute clip though.

Shockingly, this is probably his most effective ad, as he isn't seen running from people in his overamped appearances on the TV tube we have seen so far.

Regardless, we are hearing that he is calling a last minute press conference in the downtown area this morning, so we'll have to stay tuned...

FROM MEAT:

Here's the low down on the turmoil - - yes there is a difference of opinion between the consultants.

Kuwata and Carrick want to preserve the negative option for the run-off so it can't bite them too hard in the last waning days of the campaign. And they keep reminding Hahn of that almost everyday.

Hahn and Wardlaw want to attack now -- and they want to attack Bob, but even there they aren't sure, they don't want Antonio to benefit so they may end up cluster bombing both of them -- this is why they needed the LA Times to do the story with both bob and antonio in it together. It's a guilt by association ad.

Sadly, and Kuwata and Carrick know this, whoever they do face in the run-off will have this ad to use as fodder against Hahn the entire run-off. Kuwata may have to go back to the sauce some more when this is all over.

Whatever -- LA gets to be reminded of the kind of unethical scorch earth campaigns lil jimmy likes to run. Cool by me, i want to get dirty.

A tough place for our Mayor, no? If he attacks, he helps ensure that the Hertzberg vote gravitates towards Villaraigosa in the run-off. If he sits still, he may not make the run-off. What to do?

MEAT you have the damn nerve to say that knowing that your sliming boss ADV and Huggy both have that vVERY NEGATIVE STORY IN TODAY'S LAT. I give LAT credit for having the balls to print it. Then the story on HUGGY and his law firm. You're an idiot if you don't think this is going to hurt them both. Read how much money they took from special interest. All the money both of them took from ENRON. Yeahs you're the one people should be listening to,

WHAT A BUNCH OF CROOKS....ADV and Huggy..The California Correctional Peace Officers Assn.(guards)....gave $124,000 to Hertzberg-controlled fundraising committees and $134,000 to Villaraigosa.

Villaraigosa was speaker in 1998 when lawmakers approved an 11% pay increase for the guards. Hertzberg was speaker in 2002 when lawmakers approved a five-year contract, which authorized a raise of up to 37%.

Energy companies also gave to the politicians.

Villaraigosa voted for the 1996 legislation that helped deregulate California's energy market. Committees he controlled accepted $258,000 from power companies, including $18,000 from Enron Corp., the now-bankrupt energy trader blamed for market manipulation that led to shortages in 2000 and 2001.

Wow so Hahn dumps on Bob's head this morning - nothing new. But what i can't figure out for the life of me is....didn't linda Breakstone (a wardlaw ball licker) have all the stuff Hahn just dumped on Bob? If she had it, did she give it to Hahn, because she couldn't use it for some reason. Or maybe Hahn gave it to Linda (which i think is the truth) and Hahn and Co were upset that she had not used it yet, so they went into the mud themselves using the LA Times story as their cover.

Whatever the reason, it's slimy, whatever their strategy, it may be too late.

Hahn went negative today officially -- so i think at Bob's 1pm press avail we should see some fireworks fly. Does there exist a campaign or strategists in the world that can beat Carrick at his own game...i think there just might be...we shall all see. Hopefully.

I think the question is less whether it's sleazy or not. I think the question is whether voters will care.

If that's the best Hahn can do, it seems like Hahn has already lost.

Today's news proves MEAT is full of shit. He acts as if he's in the know and yet never saw this ENRON scandal coming. ADV and Huggy both took money from special interests and then turned around and voted in legislature in support of those groups. Bob had meetings with Lay who made millions from ENRON. Hard working people lost their life savings and 401k's. Good for Hahn finally coming out and blasting them. Good for LAT for having the balls to print it.
