Maxine Waters With Antonio

Earlier this morning Maxine Waters the diva of South LA endorsed Antonio Villaraigosa.

The same woman who 4 years ago, endorsed Jim Hahn.

In today's LA Times Michael Finnegan asks Eric Bauman ( a Hahn supporter) about Maxine Waters.

"Eric Bauman, a Hahn supporter who heads the county Democratic Party, said a Waters endorsement would be "seismic." He described her political operation as "unmatched by anybody in the South Los Angeles area."

"If Maxine endorsed Antonio, it would be an extraordinary turn of events among the African American community leadership," he said.

Another interesting twist was the direct comment by Jim Hahn regarding private conversations he has that we here at Sister City have exposed.

"When I have private conversations with people, they're private," Hahn said during a campaign stop at a South-Central charter school where he quizzed youngsters on what a mayor should do for the city.

Perhaps our friend FIREFLY was correct and has shaked the Hahn campaign to its utter core.

Lastly, next time the LA Times wants to steal our ideas, please give us the credit. The table that has an endorsement score sheet was started by us, but because we are gracious we won't create too much a stir.

note: To those bloggers that thought we were slowing down or interest has waned, one only needs to notice that there have been over 100 comments posted in the last blog.

I am communicating with Mayor Sam regarding the numerous postings that seem more like filibusters.

If you have any intelligence at all you should know that Maxine Waters is the biggest joke in town. This is the woman who made an ass out of herself going after Rick Caruso because of hearsay. Her own black friends make fun of her behind her back. The media makes fun of her, the biggest politicans in LA make fun of her. I can understand her alignment with Antonio. They both have no respect for women. She supports men who call their girlfriends, wives, and mothers bitches and whores. Antonio uses women, cheats on his wife sleeping with her sister, has kids out of wedlock, gave one up for adoption (the girl from Sacred Heart High) Yes, Antonio's camp will make this to be way more than it really is. But like I always say ITS ALL IN TIMING. I hope he enjoys it while it lasts. Now if it were Magic that would be a completely different story.

Hey Parke, how much did this endorsement cost? Was it the $25K she required from Barry Gordon when you were running his campaign? The Times just did a hit job on Maxine and her family - will the editors stop hearing your cries and go after Maxine and Tony now? Maybe Maxine and Gloria Molina can be on the same stage for Tony and exchange notes on MLK. What jobs did Tony promise Maxine's husband, son and daughter? Good to see hahn wouldn't go there. And you are seriulsy kidding yourself if you think Maxine can pull the Black vote out for a Latino.

ADV-lovers are pissed about the number of Anti-ADV postings because they can't keep up. They have neither the intellectual capacity, the background on the REAL ADV, the knowledge of how the city and elections actually work, or the people-power needed to defend their boy against his own shoddy record as an overpaid, over-hyped, underwhelming city councilman.

Plus, they can't get Ace and Parke to spoon feed them enough pablum hour-by-hour to keep their boy off the ropes, and the drivel on the campaign website and in ADV literature is just WAY too easy to shoot down, if you've ever spent an hour on the Eastside. I'd be pissed too if it was my job to defend the worst, most absentee, grandstanding CM in the city -- who now wants a PROMOTION!?? He MUST be lying to himself, too.

Parker can't count, either (must be the same way they arrive at endorsment "points"). You can't crow about getting 100+ posts under one blog header ("interest" not waning) when you're only adding one topic header or so a day. Granted this ain't LAVoice (5 subjects, 8 total responses a day), but there is a definite "wane" compared to pre-primary, when there were sometimes 5 or 6 topic headings, each with 50-60 posts.

I have to agree about Maxine being a joke. Especially in Washington. She tries to blackmail, bully and threaten people all in the name of racial discrimination. She is an embarrassment to African Americans and to women in this country. She pimps out her family and FORCES people to hire them. I would bet that Antonio has signed some sort of deal with Karen maybe to "produce" his election night to the tune of $40,000.

If "Firefly" actually works in the mayor's office -- and Hahn loses, he/she's out of work.

Villaraigosa allows NO carry-over

Firefly will have to "land" on the unemployment line (along with The Fly). And don't think they will be rewarded for "spying" -- even ADV isn't stupid enough to keep a "spy" around, esepcially considering the "baggage" he brings to every new situation.

Obviously the Fly and the Firefly don't really work in Hahn's office. Maybe they date someone over there and are hearing things third or fourth hand?

And yes, I agree, if Antonio wins, he will fire each and every one of them. Especially the Fly and Firefly.

Digging that ultra-liberal hole deeper, and deeper, and deeper, Tony. For every left-of-center African American a Maxine Waters endorsement brings in, it scares 3-4 moderates and conservatives furthger away (including minorities). Bad move... Hell, getting Walter Moore's endorsement would have been worth more votes than Mouthy Maxine's.

The Blacks are really angry at Maxine this afternoon. They're slamming her because she came out for a Latino but she didn't come out for her brother Parks when he needed the endorsement. Blacks are saying there is no way they want a Mexican loving Latino mayor. It will take away their political power and Antonio has already shown loyalty to his illegals and gangbangers. Don't forget Antonio was a gangbanger in his teenage days. He even got busted but the records are sealed.

hey commenters, a note from the reality based community:

Maxine draws big water in the African American Community. Her endorsement is just another indication that Hahn's campaign is collapsing. Rationalize away about it, but the fact is this is HUGE for Antonio.

All your anti-AV ranting, hating, couch-jockey former Pacheco employee whining doesn't mean crap. I hope you get it out on this blog, because when AV wins and cleans house, there aren't enough jobs on Janice's staff to save your asses.

"Amen" to the previous blogger (1:13PM). I think what I posted earlier is worth repeating:

One thing Hahn won't have this time is a lock on the African American community. Villaraigosa has Maxine Waters, Yvonne Burke, Herb Wesson, Martin Ludlow, Karen Bass, and Kevin Murray. He's likely to have Mark Ridley Thomas and Bernard Parks. That's virtually all the African American electeds. Then he has Cecil Murray, Bishop Blake, Henry Masters and Norman Johnson, to name a few, in the religious community.

Hahn on the other hand has Jan Perry as his only African American elected supporter. Then he has Leslie White and Mark Whitlock on the religious side. This doesn't appear to be much of a match-up.

You may get bent out of shape over these endorsements and criticize the character of some of them, but the fact remains that they are strong message carriers and get voters to vote. And contrary to what an earlier blogger "is hearing in the black community" about everyone being pissed at Maxine over her endorsement of Antonio, uhhhh, YOU'RE WRONG. Play that racist "blacks ain't votin' for a latino" card somewhere else.

Nice attempt to divide and conquer, but people of color are hip to that one.

This is so much fun. The Antonio supporters get upset for us saying the truth. Yep, the black ministers who endorsed AV are the same ones who threatened to burn down this city not that long ago. That's the only way they know how to get their message across with threats and violence. Does anyone really think Westsiders or Valley people won't look at this? We want to debate issues on the records of both candidates but the Antonio supporters don't have anything to debate cause he hasn't done anything. All it took was the truth about Antonio and the Vignali family corruption and it was all over. Can we say KARMA! It doesn't matter how many people endorse him when the truth about his faking being a councilman comes out.

Neither --- ANT-onio Villaraigo-slow has the VERY least (ask the people in CD14 that counted on him to stay TWO TERMS and achieve "HEAD AND SHOULDERS" above the last guy in that office). ADV must have meant the dandruff shampoo, when he said that, because there is NO bigger FLAKE in L.A. politics than ADV. Hahn hasn't been in office long enough to break THAT big a promise to his constituents. You have to start OUT meaning to deceive everyone you deal with, from day one, to show as little integrity as ADV.

I fondly recall the days when he used to come up with witty comments about Ferraro stabbing people with his pitchfork in hell. But now this page has turned into nothing more than a bunch of Hertzberg and AV campaign people sitting around pushing their own agendas while simultaneously posting tidbits that have already been covered on laoberved. Maybe the current Mayor Sam isn’t the same person who started this page. This would account for the lack of humor that used to grace these pages. I am opposed to cloning! THIS is what's known as constituent service. . . ADV! Get a CLUE, your term in CD14 has produced the WORST access for the districts residents since the last guy that faced a recall, Art Snyder. Take a few years off, learn how to help the REAL people in the city (with REAL solutions, like Hahn's 311), then maybe you'll be qualified to run for mayor some other time (maybe -- but probably not).

Hey, ADV, even your field staff knows how to help people in CD14. They just say "don't bother us - dial 311." HA! (Translation: "don't ask me for help, I work for an impotent CM.")

MAYOR HAHN, COUNCILMEMBER GREUEL ANNOUNCE EXPANDED 3-1-1 ACCESS

LOS ANGELES – Mayor Jim Hahn, joined by City Councilmember Wendy Greuel, today announced that even more Los Angeles residents now have access to 3-1-1, the city’s 24-hour, seven-day a week call center, through their cell phones.

Cingular Wireless, which was one of the first wireless providers to give 3-1-1 access to its customers when 3-1-1 launched in November 2002, now provides 3-1-1 direct-dial access to their newly acquired AT&T wireless customers. This new service gives thousands of new users access to over 1,500 city services with the press of three numbers on their keypad.

“I am so pleased that more Los Angeles residents now have direct access to 3-1-1 through their cell phones,” said Mayor Jim Hahn. “As we saw during the recent devastating storms, 3-1-1 was the number residents called to report flooding, potholes, landslides and fallen trees, and it was the number residents called to find out about road closures, city services and emergency preparedness. 3-1-1 truly is one call to City Hall.”

“By expanding the 3-1-1 system, we will make city government more accessible delivering basic city services where they are needed most,” said Councilmember Wendy Greuel. “Public-private partnerships like this can change the way the city does business, providing more services to Los Angeles residents.”

3-1-1 may now be reached through any cell phone that is serviced by Cingular Wireless (including former ATT customers), Nextel, Sprint and T-Mobile and dialed from within city limits.

"In partnership with the City of Los Angeles, Cingular Wireless is pleased to make 311 dialing available to its customers in L.A. Cingular customers will now be able to reach non-emergency police and other government services in L.A. by dialing the simple and easy to remember 311 number, " said Art Navarro, spokesperson for Cingular Wireless.

Callers outside the city of Los Angeles but within the five-county area – Los Angeles, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange – or any callers using a pay phone or non-participant cell phone can dial 1-866-4LACITY. If dialing from outside of the five counties, 3-1-1 can be reached by dialing 213-978-3231.

Currently, 3-1-1 is answering over 47,000 calls a month with over 7,500 of these calls coming from wireless customers calling within the city limits. During the recent storms, many hazards caused by the storm were reported to the city using cellular telephones, increasing the information needed by the city to minimize damages and injuries. 3-1-1’s call volume nearly doubled during the days affected by the storms.

3-1-1 is Los Angeles’ easy to remember, citywide toll free number that provides immediate access to city information, every city agency and more than 1,500 non-emergency services. Calls are answered 24-hours a day, 365 days a year by live operators. Within the Los Angeles city limits, residents can be connected to this service by dialing 3-1-1 from any residential or business phone.

People using cell phones serviced by Nextel, Sprint, Cingular or T-Mobile can also access the system by dialing 3-1-1. Callers outside the City of Los Angeles but within Los Angeles, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside or Orange counties can call 1-866-4LACITY to access the system, as can callers using pay phones or non-participant cell phones. Other callers can access the 3-1-1 system by calling 213-978-3231.

Mayor Hahn implemented the 3-1-1 system in November 2002 to increase the ability of Los Angeles residents to access city government.

My point exactly, 2:40 p.m. In less than 2 years, ADV has broken more significant promises to his constituents that someone like Hahn could break in 20 years. ADV has NO integrity. Simple equation: I promise I won't, but I DO = Liar = can't be trusted = can be counted on to get ANYTHING done he promises for ANY position.

Useless in office... Con men like this need to be selling cars, not selling off peoples hopes and dreams for the next step up the political ladder.

Yeah, that’s going to win you a ton of votes. I am sure that release has people cheering in the streets and ADV shaking in his boots. But when I stop to think about it, maybe this whole 3-1-1 cell phone idea really will come in handy. Now Los Angeles residents who have nothing better to do than stare at potholes while sitting in traffic will now be able to report them. I bet this is why the Mayor has yet to synchronize the traffic lights. He must be hoping that people will spot building and safety violations while stuck in standstill traffic on our city’s surface streets. Pure freakin’ genius!

(NO, I didn't work there, I'm NOT related to any of them, or DATING them, and I didn't LOSE my job when ADV cam to office. The whole DISTRICT lost a helpful professional CD staff... I CALLED them, THEY answered).

Try it sometime ADV field staffers, maybe then constituents wouldn't keep ragging on your boss's phony district accomplishments nonstop. First WALK the walk...

BS, it hasn't been working that long, and even if the idea started earlier than 4 years ago, the implementation is what makes it an effective tool. This is why you ADV-lovers prove yourself to be such jerks. If TALK was all that mattered, your boy might make a good mayor someday (maybe). All he does is talk. Do-nothing, accomplish-nothing, windbag. 21 MONTHS after taking office in CD14, he still hasn't finished the first six months worth of projects left to him by the last councilmember in that office -- projects people collected thousands of signatures and the CM wrangled $100 thousands of dollars to make happen. ADV never WILL finish a task. That's why we call him ADV --- Attention DEFICIT. Lacking the then ability to complete anything but the sentence currently coming out of his mouth -- then it's one to the next photo-op. L.A. has better now, can do much better in four years with someone else.

ZogDaddy, your absolutely right, Tony's private life should not be put out for public display. If a man wants to be a player, more power to him.

But, it was Tony who put this out there first. When he portrayed himself as a family man in his first campaign - he made this a public issue, his wife filed for divorce that Wednesday right after his Tuesday night victory party - the case is still open, you should look into this Parke.

When his consultants began his first run for mayor with the "My Father was An Alcoholic, Wife Beater" piece - they made this a public issue. When a woman State employee and the Speaker of the Assembly fight in the Capitol garage to the extent that the State police had to intervene - it became a public issue. Tony's Jewish consultants took any Latino stereotypical fault in Tony - "high school dropout", "abandoned by his drunk father", "gangbanger", "suffering single mother" and made it their campaign platform - so Tony's private life is fair game.

They are so intent on finding that "great brown hope" that they can't see the forest because of the trees and they don't realize the damage they are causing - if Tony gets elected, try convincing a Chicano youth from East L.A. that drugs, gangbanging and just being a hoodlum is a bad thing - hey if Tony made, so can I. And just so you know, the stuff posted on this blog about Tony's private life doesn't even begin to scratch the surface.

You read back 15-20 messages so you could complain about "personal" attacks?

GEEZ, keep up with the flow, ADV-lover. Never seen a candidate with such a "martyr" complex. You attack his job performance 15 ways from Sunday, and somebody digs out the one "personal" item back in blog history somewhere and cries "foul." But that tactic's pretty easy to explain -- there's NO defense for how badly ADV does his current job, they've given up defending him (about time, too). If I had to listen to that ill-conceived campaign spin crap about "80 NEW neighborhood watches" -- in a district with ONLY about 25-30 separate neighborhoods -- I was gonna have a stroke. Talk about a losing battle.

He can't win on job performance -- best bet for ADV is the tried and true sympathy vote (that's how he got on city council anyway -- people felt sorry for "poor Tony" - big mean Hahn attacked him about Vignali). So, they gave him a consolation prize (CD14), since it's obvious he'll NEVER be mayor of anything larger than Lompoc. They knew it when they elected him CM, if only he could come to grips with the reality of what he is -- a political dinosaur from the late 20th century.
