Just who is James Acevedo?
In today's LA Times we learn about a 4.1 million dollar loan given to James Acevedo in 2002 to build affordable housing units in the San Fernando Valley.
They weren't built.
In fact, not one payment has been made to the city regarding the loan.
That's 40 more police officers for the San Fernando Valley.
Over 133 bousing units for the San Fernando Valley.
Gone.
James Acevedo sits on the Harbor commission where he is being investigated by the grand jury for possible pay to play allegations, but this isn't the first time James Acevedo has been in the limelight.
Coming from the hospital industry James's first contact in the political arena was as an aide to then assemblyman Richard Katz, Katz would send James to work on campaigns in Gardena and in the northeast San Fernando Valley. James orchestrated Enardi Bernardi's reelection before his last term, so James can get a latino elected after Bernardi. That latino turned out to be Richard Alarcon. With Richard in office James moved quickly to getting his candidates elected, first Tony Cardenas for state assembly and then sweeping every candidate into the council of the city of San Fernando.
But then something happened.
In 1999 Richard Alarcon broke away from James and his machine to endorse another candidate for council after his election into the state senate. James's boy was Alex Padilla.
Alex's gets elected and all is looking good for James, except he gets caught with his pants down in the City of San Fernando where then councilwoman Cindy Montanez gets her slate elected over James.
It doesn't end there though, later in 2000 Alex with prodding from James tries to push forward the largest CRA project in Los Angeles history. James was to make a mighty dollar indeed, with virtual control of 7th council district, all contractors working within the zone would have to kiss Jame's ring, but the community was having none of it.
In what turned out to be a major defeat for James and Alex the CRA project was pulled. James was not a pleased man, but there was a mayoral race coming up, he needed to lick his wounds and get back up on the pony.
James knew the only way to get what he wanted within the CRA was with the help of the City Attorney, you see every CRA PAC has a rep from the City Attorney's office, without the City Attorney's help you can't do much of anything in this city. So birds of a feather flock together in this case.
James puts his mighty machine behind James Hahn. From the valley operation to the westside operation all of the operatives working in those offices were James Acevedo employees. James ran the field program, and because of the victory, Hahn was quick to give James a coveted appointment on the Harbor Commission.
Sadly, it doesn't end there, with video cameras surrounding his house in Sylmar, James flees to the hills of Sherman Oaks. But the world around James continues to crash.
His backed candidate for CD Tony Cardenas gets beat by Wendy Greuel.
His backed candidate for state assembly Yolando Fuentes gets beat by Cindy Montanez.
FBI investigations, grand jury probes and now the unleashed information about the bilking of city money into his pocket.
James and James -- two guys that love corruption and power.

What happened to the previous thread? Mayor Sam/ chief Parker, just when the truth starts to come out on Tony you censor? Post the previous thread back up!

Chief Parker is a paid Antonio employee or on his campaign. Why don't you think he immediately pulls anything about ADV from here? Why don't you post Paul Hernandez, field staffer for Antonio went around Boyle Heights asking businesses to use their offices to phone bank. There one that I know of that had phone bankers in their business today. And Paul Hernandze hasn't being doing his job as a staffer and attending events he's suppose to.

This has to be a 1st Chief Parker. You've never before pulled an article from your site. All of a sudden your censoring what people right. You only make it obvious people who posted all the negative were on to something and you don't want anyone to read. Did you lose your manhood too along with Antonio? Crybabies! If its against Hahn you leave it. Against Antonio you pull it.

Okay, okay so James Acevedo is a slime ball. He couldn't work in East L.A., where he is from, and he was exiled to the San Fernando Valley. Yes, there's a federal investigation on him - and Richard Alarcon also - the same Deputy AG prosecuting Al Robles is investigating him. Alex Padilla is an idiot for being James' lackey and Tony Cardenas' little napoleonic complex is only exacerbated by the presence of James.
But my question is, where is the previous thread? Mayor Sam this is an excellent venue to put out the truth on any and all candidates - as voters we deserve this much. But if the previous thread is not placed back up the only venue that exists is the I.E.'s or in this case the RECALL committee. If I can't expose the truth here - I'm sure they are eager and willing to put the truth out - and there is much more out there on Tony.

All three dailies (Times, Daily News, Daily Breeze) top their Saturday campaign stories with Mayor Hahn's Friday attack on Antonio Villaraigosa that he's untrustworthy and pandered to voters in 2001. Hahn played tapes and showed blow ups of news stories to make a case that Villaraigosa told black voters he would support Bernard Parks as police chief and told white voters he thought Parks wasn't doing the job. Hahn also hit on Villaraigosa's vow in 2003 to serve his full term on the council rather than run again for mayor

"Posters keep blogging the stuff against Antonio. The truth needs to come out."
Chief Parker deleted a whole thread with about 30 posts - must have been something good. Here's one of the posts:
This post was in response to a 10:20 PM ANON post challenging people to post the name of the woman in question - essentially questioning the veracity of such statements, well here it is. Print it before it gets censured again - and there was a follow-up post from some ADV lover verifying the facts.
The name of the woman is Martha Reyna. Her name is mentioned here only because she was already mentioned in the Ricardo Torres mailers and in the Times. She is Tony's comadre which means Tony is godfather to one of her four children. In 1994, Tony was contemplating running for office. Pat Bond, Gloria Molina's late consultant and herself a cancer survivor, adviced Tony not to run because cancer affects the whole family, not just the patient. She said she wouldn't do the campaign but Tony soon found Parke Skelton ready and willing to do the deed. Tony, thinking of himself as always, went forward with the campaign.
As if the pressures of the campaign weren't enough, Tony soon starts to have an affair with a long time family friend. Parke would send Tony and Martha out canvassing for votes - only thing is, they weren't canvassing. They were going to a motel in Silver Lake and Bill Mabie and Richard Polanco got wind of this. Parke, fearing that they would send pictures of Martha and Tony at this motel to Corina had Tony's home mail forwarded to the campaign office. While Tony and Martha were out doing their thing, Richard, Martha's husband and Tony's compadre and former state bar study partner was in the campaign office making calls to raise money for his good buddy Tony while Tony was out doing his wife.
Corina, Tony's wife, wasn't too involved in that campaign because she was home recovering from cancer surgery and treatment. She noticed no mail was arriving home and Corina is not a stupid woman, despite always going back to Tony after his little adventures. One day she calls Richard, Judge Richard now, and asks if Martha is home. Richard tells her she is in Palm Springs for a labor convention - she used to work for the Painters Union. Low and behold, Tony is also at the same convention.
Corina and Richard put two and two together and Corina confronts Tony. And you know how she got Tony to confess, she questioned his manhood so Tony coughs everything up - can't question his manhood, you know. This was during election day weekend. On election day, Xavier Becerra is up on stage introducing the victorious Tony and going on about what a good family man Tony is. All the campaign workers and virtually everyone else in the audience knows what has been happening and the snickering grows to a crescendo. Xavier would later confront Tony and gets in his face about what a fool he made of him - they will never be good friends again.
Corina doesn't even join Tony up on stage - some family guy. The next day she files for divorce. The case is still open. As for Richard, well Richard's hobby is gun collecting and he starts to hunt for Tony. Tony can't go home anymore and starts to ask his friends to put him up. Most refuse, including Gloria Molina and Ron Martinez. Tony ends up staying at the campaign office before he and Martha hit the road and go up north. This was in June and Tony still has a November general election and a December swearing in.
While on the lamb and hiding from Richard the gun collector, Martha gets word that her 13 year old daughter, Tony's goddaughter, couldn't take the drama anymore and runs away from home. This knocks some sense into Martha and she leaves Tony and returns home. Eventually, Martha and Richard get a divorce anyway.
But, this wasn't some drunken mistake that just happened. According to campaign staffers, Tony had been aggressively pursuing Martha - damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead! After all, Tony is God's gift to women and power is the ultimate aphrodisiac.
Soon Tony is left without a lover, wife or family - even his sisters shun him. There is a fax that starts circulating - started at Gloria Molina's office, Martha Molina - Gloria's aid (no relation) couldn't stand Tony and gets this fax going - this was before e-mails and blogs. The fax is sort of a contest to give Tony a new name. With Corina Raigosa filing for divorce, Tony wouldn't dare use her last name, would he. Soome of the names are Villapendejo, Villapitosuelto, Villaprimadonna, Villahomewrecker, and on and on. I think the list got to over 100 new names for Tony.
Eventually, Tony and Corina get back together. Tony goes around giving his best mea culpa impersonation for all his bogus friends saying that he was such a bonehead. One of the arguments he actually used was that he was "in love" with Martha, as if Tony ever understood the meaning! As for Martha and Richard and Tony's godchildren, they are left by the side of the road like so many of Tony's other encounters. Hey, he got his rocks off right?
And there you have it, that the kind of man Tony is.
Chief Parke Skelton will soon erase this so print it if you want a copy. But this, along with many other Tony adventures, will be forwarded to the RECALL committee - I hope they have the money to get this out.

I see on Antonio2005 that anybody who disagrees with Villaraigosa is called a wingnut by Mike Shrimpox, Villaraigosa's campaign consultant! I presume people who agree with Tony vote for him. On that basis, is Tony calling approximately 60,000 voters in CD14, say 80% of registered voters, wingnuts?
By the way, I like that comment posted on the other thread that Republicans - businessmen republicans, at least, are indeed giving money to Antonio because, "...we always give money to politicians we can buy." Pay to Play? You haven't seen anything yet if Antonio is the next mayor!

The Recall is not interested in the sleaze from the previous poster. Mr. Villaraigosa broke a promise on a par with George Bush's "Read My Lips..." For that reason we set in motion a recall. Mr. Villaraigosa's private life is not the concern of the recall. Please don't send us any material concerning Mr. Villaraigosa's affairs/fights/or whatever. Our concern is the promise he made - and broke - to the people of the 14th district. Thank you.

7:33 ANON Stated:
"The Recall is not interested in the sleaze from the previous poster"
Please, give me a break. You are trying to RECALL Antonio Villaraigosa, like it or not, sleaze is going to come out. It would be a perfect world if we didn't have sleazy candidates, but it's not, especially when you're dealing with someone of Tony's character. He lied to the 14th district just like he lied to his buddy Richard just like he lied to his wife - this is sleaze. You may call it broken promises, lack of character or lying but put all that in the context of a politician and it is SLEAZE.
The mistake Ricardo Torres made - and he is about as sleazy as they get - was that he backed off of his promise to continue with his two hits per week on Tony. The RECALL shouldn't make the same mistake. Latinos are about as uneducated about their leaders as any 3rd world population, it is our duty to let them know who their leaders are. Is it any wonder they end up with leaders like Ricahrd Alatorre - failed court ordered drug tests; Mike Hernandez - caught on camera buying drugs; Richard Polanco - caught with his mistress and mother of his two kids on the public payroll; Gloria Molina - caught trying to circumvent building and safety codes for her Mt. Washington pool, the list goes on and on.
All this stuff is true, Tony obviously has legal recourse - but he won't pursue it because he knows this is the truth. The RECALL should grow some balls and learn a little about hard knocks politics - Tony won't give you guys any quarter, he'll go right for your jugulars!

Here we go again,, distraction, distraction, distraction. Athena, Tony gets one little jab from Hahn and he is on the ropes and you and Chief begin crying about Acevedo. We get it, James Acevedo is a slime ball - but he's not running for mayor - Tony is. There is a thread going on Tony's sleaze factor and you try and change the topic again.
How long do you think these distractions will work? Oh, by the way, Acevedo curried favors for Alarcon, who is now in your camp, he has dealings with Sherman, who is now in your camp, he brokered deals with Berman and Waxman, who were the first to go to your camp. So stop playing innocent, the buck doesn't stop at Hahn's office, it goes on and on.
Anonymous said:

I put you in the same boat with Chief Parker. I meant this whole thread - he deleted the earlier thread which was about Tony's sleaze factor.

Let's not forget how sleazy Tony Valarde is. Rumor has it that the WIC office, below his city (publicly funded)district office in Boyle Heights, told all the mothers coming to collect their WIC/Food Vouchers, that they would get $30 to vote for Tony! The woman are about to go to the press. Tony, do you also have these WIC mothers on your payroll?

There are many ethic violations in Antonio's campaign. He's using city staff to help with his campaign. He begged businesses in Boyle Heights to use their phones for phone banking yesterday. Ummmm...wonder if the press will jump on that. Antonio doesn't want to be labeled "Latino mayor" yet he had his phone bankers yesterday calling Latino voters stating he would be the 1st Latino mayor. The more intelligent Latinos hug up the phone on them. They know better that its a qualified candidate not the race and that's why there's a lot of latinos voting for Hahn

No MEAT what is so so sad is the way your boss Antonio can't even answer a simple question from the media on his critizing Parks as not being the right person then telling South LA different. That's sad because finally he got busted with his own words. What will be sad is tomorrow Hahn will chew and spit out Antonio at the debate cause Antonio has ZERO to debate on. He has no issues he's done anything about. MEAT that is what's truly sad. And no its not Hahn or anyone else you ADV people try to discredit.

Are you as nuts or what? That whiney honky couldn't chew his own cud, let alone a cool debater like Antonio. If AV is as big a liar as you make him out to be, then all the more reason why Hahn will never lay a glove on him.
The people have made it clear in the polls that the filth that Jimmy's troops are putting out is backfiring. He is tracking 20 points back in the private polls of both candidates.
It just ain't gonna work again; the public is hip to the desperate lies of Hahn and Company.
What's that sound? It is the fat lady gargling as she warms up for May 17.
Adios Nino, make way for a Hombre.

To Anon at 7:30 am (sorry I'm so late), that is excellent tripe you are serving up at the restaurant. Its plainly obvious that this is your first campaign ever. I can forgive that, greenie. As such one of the first things that everyone who runs or works on a campaign learns is what can be done and what can't be done. You are allowed to leave now and do your homework.
Staffers who take a leave of absence from city work for campaigns are not paid by the city. Silly you! You missed that part! Also asking businesses for the use of their phones for phone banks is also not illegal. Silly you again! Since you have never, ever, at all in your young life been involved with a campaign, you naturally would not know that all campaigns routinely ask businesses to act as an after hour phone bank. I'm sure you, in your naivete and inexperience, are also unaware that LA has one of the toughest ethics rules in campaigns throughout the nation. Candidates are not even able to transfer funds to campaign at all. Did you know (and I'm sure you didn't) that even if Hahn or Villaraigosa had funds left over from the primary, that they are not allowed to use them for the run-off? Nope. Not at all.
So check the Ethics website and work in a couple campaigns before you start crying "ethics breach". I understand your passion. It happens to everyone at their first time.

Anon 8:39 am definitely knows their stuff, and it seems like they put Anon 7:30 am in their seat just in time to get a lesson in Campaigning 101.
Many of you have spent quite alot of time on this blog posting rumors, stories and even wild ramblings that don't seem to have any facts to support them (some seem to have them, but those stories seem to be so dirty that they deserve to be on the National Enquirer). But at the end of the day, the twists and spinning that people try to do on here only goes to the eyes of political insiders who are addicted to this world.
Try to keep up your lowball postings and continue to feel like if you are contributing to the destruction of Villaraigosa. Just know that although you can post anonymously, MANY of you have posted using key words and phrases that are unique to specific people out in the community. Eventually, you will have only been part of the gossip mill that gave people a good laugh or two, but you haven't contributed the slightest bit to making your community better.
I can't wait to see what people post on May 18th (no matter who wins).

Weakest response from MEAT yet, "is that you Hahn," in response to ADV being a pathological liar and not worth trusting at any level. It's the one negative thay have no spin-back for, and it's the most critical area for any politician. You spend a year telling people what you plan to do as mayor, but you're known, even in the media, as an unrepentent, habitual liar.
If you thought "Is that you Hahn, so sad" was a clever response to "prove me wrong" -- THAT's the saddest thing here. But as long as petulant Hahn-haters keep posting unfounded claims that he's corrupt, vindictive, etc., I feel perfectly justified in continuing to post the main proven, published, repeated fact that they have no response for... it even worries his own people in private. They don't know how many times their liberal, progressive "foregiveness" will let them look the other way and say, "All politicans lie."
The challenge remains...
Antonio Villaraigosa is a pathological liar who can't be trusted to do anything he says he'll do. Someone prove me wrong.
End of story!

I know for damn sure that if a city staffer takes a leave of absence and is not doing their job in the district like they're suppose to and is working on Antonio's campaign there is definitely something wrong with that. Everyone in CD14 knows Antonio is the biggest crook of all. In this day and age its a sad statement that many who are from non-profit organizations and don't support Antonio can't come out publicly and say so. They have been warned and harrassed that if they do, their funding will be in jeopardy. Now, you would think we were living in Iraq with that kind of crap still going on.

Attention Deficient Villaraigosa's gross impotence as a public "servant" is on display once again this week. The Southwest Museum, the "jewel" of his district and home community for decades and one of its main tourist and cultural attractions is being consumed by the Gene Autry Museum (cowboys beating up the Indians again) and moved against the community's wishes to a new location, while ADV is twiddling his thumbs or sucking them, or something. He's been "supporting" its retention in Mount Washington (lip service) for several years now. They put a Goldline stop there just for the museum (remember... that's the mass transit ADV single-handedly saved?)
Gee, what well-known edifice will he have to stand in front of now for campaign mailer photos -- to prove he knows where CD14 is? He's been using the Southwest's picture for the last 3-4 races. Maybe he can still pose in front of the empty shell of what was L.A.'s first museum, now abandoned, and just tell people it's the new shrine to Antonio VIAGRA-gosa, patron saint of flaccid political support.
Gawd help you if ADV "supports" your cause. You might as well kiss it goodbye the minute he signs on...
HEADLINE: Autry National Center Commissions Overland Partners Architects to Design New Buildings and Galleries at Los Angeles Campus; Design will highlight collection of Southwest Museum of the American Indian and expand Center's Research Institute and Library
LOS ANGELES (March 7, 2005) -- The Autry National Center has selected Overland Partners
Architects, an award-winning firm based in San Antonio, Texas, to develop a master
plan and design new buildings and expanded galleries for the multicultural history
center's campus in Los Angeles's Griffith Park. The project will physically merge
the multiple institutions that have come together in recent years to form the Autry
