Outtakes from CD 14: La Opinion outs Councilman Huizar's use of the CLARTS Fund
"The truth will come out".
That is what embattled CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar said to a prominent community activist when asked about the status of the Central Los Angeles Refuge Transfer Station (CLARTS) Fund and that day is now, as the La Opinion Newspaper reports in its Friday's edition (Link here to read the the google translation and commentary provided by Ron Kaye).
CD 14 activists, newspapers, neighborhood councils, bloggers (including Ron Kaye and myself) and a former councilperson, have ask both informally and formally through the California Public Records Act, what has become of the amenities fund that was the brainchild of the late Lloyd Monserratt the Chief of Staff of former Councilperson Nick Pacheco?
LA Opinion discloses that Councilman Huizar has almost diverted half of the $2.8 million in the fund into his "city council account" ( salaries? community events that promote Huizzy?). This run contrary to the vision of Nick Pacheco who wanted this amenities account to fund community events within CD 14, without political connotations.
The Spanish counterpart of the Los Angeles Times also cites The Voice Newspaper and Boyle Heights Neighborhood Council President Jose Aguilar as sources for today's report. The Voice Newspaper in its March 2010 edition published a article on the CLARTS Fund that gave its readers a "Cliff Notes" version on the origin and purpose of the fund, while asking Councilman Huizar to brief the community on the current status of the fund, via a formal Public Records Act. BHNC President Jose Aguilar, who was the primary activist in bring community attention to this previously unknown CD 14 exclusive discretionary fund, was given his proper due in the story.
Councilman Huizar in response to today's story ( as best deducted from the Google translation), attacks The Voice Newspaper for creating controversy where none exists. Huizar also attacks The Voice Newspaper for working on the behalf of his political opponents. But one should remind Huizar that it was this blog that kept updating its readers on Huizar's lack of responses to the Public Records Request of both The Voice and the now defunct Garment and Citizen Newspaper on this and other issues.
As of post time, the Rudy Martinez Campaign has not responded to today's La Opinion story. But Huizar might ponder what a difference a little CLARTS Fund allocation to maintaining paramedic staffing levels at Station 16 in El Sereno could have done for this gentleman's family? But then in CD 14, maintaining a proper amount of indifferent staffers is paramount than funding public safety resources.
Your thoughts..............

I guess Red Spot doesn't understand the meaning of "paramount."
RED SPOT: HOW CAN SOMETHING BE MORE PARAMOUNT? IF IT'S PARAMOUNT, THEN NOTHING CAN BE ABOVE IT. IDIOT.

And, why, pray tell do you have an apostrophe in this?
To what possession of La Opinion's are you referring? Or do you agree that the apostrophe doesn't belong there?

Red Spot, you're an idiot.

We know you enjoy getting a large number of comments, even if the vast majority of them prove that you're an illiterate asswipe. Good for you, then. You continue to prove it to the world.

Red Spot don't you realize that the more grammatical errors you make, the more attention drifts away from your story?
Why don't you care enough to simply click through spellcheck and grammarcheck?
"NOONE" believes you studied anything, let alone journalism, at community college. Why don't you post your report card if you did, just to prove it.

Retired LAUSD you are as brainless as your master Huizar.
Your master is a self serving fool that spends our money to promote himself. He doesn’t care about the community or anyone else, not even his family. Every move or decision he makes is for his benefit. He is just a crooked politician.

DREAM ACT BILL
From a spending standpoint, we can't afford this. Legal standpoint, it's illegal and unfair. I'm an immigrant and Republicans are the only ones who stand for America. People from all over the world struggle to get in this country. How would you feel if someone cut in front you in a line or while driving? Also, legal citizens of this country are not entitled to free college education? The Democrats have gone too dangerously far too left and extreme. Until they move to the center, they should be punished on the next election cycle including Obama. I hate it when these guys give away money that's not their like my tax dollars. The liberals are also burying us into debt with their wasteful spending.

You have two families: "Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal".
Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California .
Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.
Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table".
Ready? Now pay attention...
Joe Legal:$25.00 per hour x 40 hours =$1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has
$31,231.00.
Jose Illegal:$15.00 per hour x 40 hours =$600.00 per week, or $31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has
$31,200.00.
Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now
has $24,031.00.
Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000.00 per
year. Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.
Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps and welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $9,631.00.
Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month federal rent subsidy.
Jose Illegal pays out that $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $ 31,200.00.
Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for insurance. Joe Legal now has $7,231.00.
Jose Illegal says, "We don't need no stinkin' insurance!" and still has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc.
Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month.
Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.
Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.
Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school. Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while Jose Illegal's children get a government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal's children go home.
Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.
Do you get it, now?
If you vote for or support any politician that supports illegal aliens...
You are part of the problem!
It's way PAST time to take a stand for America and Americans!

$1 BILLION money goes into Boyle Heights. Huizar's promise to Audit all the non profits has never been done. Why? Because Huizar has friends like Boyle Height Tech Center director driving a new Mercedes. Huizar makes sure his friends like Raul Estrada at El Centro Ayuda always gets money. Raul is as corrupt as the other non profits in Boyle Heights. Raul is always taken care of by the Mayor as well very corrupt circle. Homeboy Industries needs to be audited. These non profits give tax dollars to political campaigns and get high salaries.

question? WHO'S RUNNING AGAINST HUIZAR! THE ANSWER TO YOUR PROBLEM RESTS THERE! IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE THE COMPLAINT LINE LET THESE PEOPLE GET ANOTHER CHANCE OR CHANGE WHO'S IN THERE, YOUR CHOICE.

Isn't Raul dating Antonio's sister or related somehow? I think this is why he had to recuse himself from a commission appointment. Then we all know about Gang Banger Father Boyle and his criminals. Amazing all these corrupt people getting money for what? To drive expensive cars, paid over $80,000 per year

I hope you send this out to many sites. So much emotionalism gets attached to this issue. It's good to see such a clear presentation.

You need to post the article in HOY magazine quoting Huizar stating he loves Mexico more and feels at home there. Huizar has made Boyle Heights into Tijuana and a 3rd world country. There is so much blight and crap all over the district because he feels comfortable living like a pig as illegals do. They pretend to be afraid but you will see them all over the city blatantly breaking the law. Huizar has come out to support illegals and marches with them but fails to do anything to honor or show American Pride as the Mexian Americans living in his district. They have become the silent voice. There are many Mexican Americans all over the city and in CD14 who support Arizona SB1070 and against the Dream Act. All the corrupt Latino politicans Mayor, Huizar, Cardenas, Alarcon, Reyes, support illegals at every step. This is why they have ruined OUR City and everyone no matter where you live help other districts to get rid of them all. Krekorian won by the power of the people and internet emails. WE all need to do the same and spread the word against these MEcha thinking idiots like Huizar
Anonymous said:
Does anyone know if Huizar is an American?
Has he ever mentioned when he became a citizen?
All he talks about is where he was born.
If he's not a citizen here, that would explain a lot.
