Substance, Symbolism, and Who?

Substance and character, mixed with charisma, is what many in CD 14 are finding in City Council Candidate Rudy Martinez. Martinez is seen here serving food to the homeless yesterday at the Midnight Mission on Skid Row.

Symbolic acts for the cameras or was Mayor Villar flashing his "ticket" to ensure a front row seat at the World Mayor's Climate Summit in Mexico City? BTW, it was a frigid 44 degrees at 6:47 AM, as recorded by the official Downtown LA weather station on the USC campus.

Whom is the pandering councilperson that plaster his likeness for all to see as motorists were diverted away from his recent Valley Blvd. Block Party? That same Councilman may want to send this banner to the Ramona Gardens Recreation Center, where he was greeted with chants of "Rudy!, Rudy!" on the day before Thanksgiving.

Your thoughts..............
Scott Johnson in CD 14

Rudy is just another political whore. I challenge you to tell everyone where Rudy had served dinner to the poor during thanksgiving the last four years? Do you get my point!!!!

The reason Red Spot loves Rudy, is because they are both Republicans... Oh, I forgot the political whore changed is party i.d. when he decided to run for office this summer! Flip this you Political Whore???

Scottie, yes, "Scottie". This is homeboy that hangs out and plays ball with the kids at the center. You know what i am talking about. We are going to make an invitation to have him help us.

Now, you know you are lying about Huizar going to the Center and people yelling for Rudy. I was there. Stop lying. And stop messing around. You know what i mean.

If you want to make sure NO ONE takes the political candidacy of Rudy M. serious in CD14, have Reed Snut, the illiterate bomb thrower continue to pump Rudy's every breath as being from the "next" messiah for the Eastside.

No one who actually votes, and can also SPELL the word "e-l-e-c-t-i-o-n" will take Rudy seriously with that kind of a hopelessly doltish cheering section drooling over him here every day.

(Scott Johnson: Your fawning will HURT Rudy, not help him. Hacopian: TELL him that, soon, or you won't get your winner's bonus).

Know thyself, Snot, and know what you represent to most people who read your screeds here... you're a JOKE, so whoever you rabidly pump here will ALSO be a joke.

OMG!!! what crybabies posts against Red Spot. No doubt these are Huizar lapdogs monitoring all blogs as they were told. Its those people who sit on their asses doing nothing but whine and complain and try to tear people apart.Red Spot has major support all over the city because unlike your lazy asses he actually does good for our city putting out info we would never know. And keep trying to attack Rudy. The issue is Huizar has been a complete and embarrassing Failure in his district. No one knows him and can someone list something he's actually done and not take credit from others? There's nothing in all the years he's been in office. Huizar Voted to re open more pot shops in communities that are poor and filled with gangs, he Voted to support DWP and NOT place a ballot measure so council can FIRE the Mayor's commissioners (this has been delayed til Dec. 7) he Voted to raise DWP rate hikes, Lied about Measure B, Lied about Trash Fee HIke going for more cops.etc. etc. etc. Why isn't Mike "gastopo" Trujillo answering any of those statementa???

Phil Jennerjahn Quits Race for Los Angeles City Council Seat Held by LaBonge
By Allison C. Ferraro

Phil Jennerjahn has dropped out of the Los Angeles City Council race for Council District 4, currently held by Tom LaBonge, citing an inability to get enough signatures to qualify for the ballot and a lack of funds.

Jennerjahn announced on his blog, Nov. 22nd, he was abandoning the race, the day the December 2010 edition of the Los Feliz Ledger went to press.

In a telephone interview Nov. 23rd, Jennerjahn said he canvassed the Los Feliz area over a couple of days to obtain the city’s election clerk’s requirement of getting 500 signatures.

“I did not get a single signature in two hours,” Jennerjahn said. “Man, this is not going to work out at this rate.”

Jennerjahn said he was “thinking about suing the city” over the signature requirement. When he ran for Congress earlier this year, he said, he only had to obtain 50 signatures.

The city’s signature requirement he said, is “denying the people the right to run. . . [Homeowners] don’t want to be bothered. It’s a big headache. I had a bad afternoon. Two hours of my time and I got zero.”

11:10- Rumor has it "Red Spot" is tight with the Huizar camp, and he's paid to infiltrate the Mayor Sam blog and discredit Rudy with posts like this one. Huizar is no dummy. He knows every time Red Spot posts it makes Rudy look more unqualified for office - and at $275 a pop it's a bargain.

Huizar should be really scared and embarrassed that as an incumbent he couldn't even raise enough funds to keep up with Mr. Martinez even though Rudy put a lot of his own money. Huizar is only a couple hundred ahead and now that all the bad publicity on his stance support DWP is coming out and the other VOTES on council against the people he better start counting his pennies.

This is a disgusting, tasteless photo op on the part of Rudy Martinez.

Has Martinez ever, EVER shown his face in Skid Row before? Has he ever, EVER done anything to support services in Skid Row, help the people of Skid Row, or even shown an inkling of care that the place even exists? I mean until NOW, when looking like a caring soul who gives a damn about the little people is important for campaign photos? The answer is NO. And the fact that he's using the least fortunate among us for campaign photos is really really low.

On the other hand, among other accomplishments and assistance for Skid Row, Huizar opened the FIRST AND ONLY PARK in Skid Row, Gladys Park, so the children of Skid Row (yes there are homeless children in large numbers, it's heartbreaking and real, unlike this ridiculous feeding the hungry photos) have a place to play and try in whatever way they can to enjoy being kids. And he's continued to bring resources to that park, too, and to help the service agencies around there who really o the work.

Also, for anyone who's keeping track, Midnight Mission is NOT EVEN IN CD14. Martinez decides to go have his "good guy helping the poor" shot made on Thanksgiving in Skid Row and doesn't even choose a service provider that's actually IN the district he's running for? There are LOTS of shelters and service providers located in CD14. Midnight Mission does great work but so do so many others. And to choose one that's not even in the district he's running for shows ignorance of the district on top of the pandering and photo-op driven good deed he's trying to document.

Ick. Ick. ick. Ick. No thanks, Mr, Martinez. I've had enough of you already.
