COUNCILMEMBER HUIZAR DENIES REAL
ACCOUNTABILITY TO RATE PAYERS

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 20, 2010) – In what proved to be one of the most critical votes the Los Angeles City Council has faced in years, Councilmember Jose Huizar denied Department of Water and Power (DWP) rate payers real accountability over the DWP by casting the decisive vote in favor of a watered-down Charter Amendment instead of the stronger reform measures backed by seven other council members and DWP reform advocates. If approved by voters in the upcoming March 8th municipal elections, the amendment would create a weak and disempowered Office of Public Accountability (OPA) for the DWP.

“This vote provided a bright light between the real reformers and those who support the proposed ballot measure. The final language is disappointing.” said Jack Humphreville via the CityWatch site.

The City Council held a series of public hearings to obtain community feedback on the proposed OPA. Community members were lead to believe that the final language for the ballot measure would include elements of oversight over the finances, management and operations of the DWP.

The current diluted and ambiguous language of the ballot measure reads as follows:

"The role of the OPA shall be to (1) promote efficiency and effectiveness of the department; (2) provide a centralized focus on ratepayer protection and consumer complaints; and (3) provide independent analysis of department actions, particularly as they relate to water and electricity rate actions. The OPA shall advocate against excessive rates and shall provide expert advice on rate actions and strategies which most economically accomplish the City's policy goals and protect the department's long-term interests."

“Jose Huizar chose to place the demands of the Downtown special interests above the interests of the residents of CD 14 and DWP rate payers all over Los Angeles,” said Eric Hacopian lead consultant to Rudy Martinez campaign. “His betrayal will be fully noted on March 8th by Council District voters when the voters are given the opportunity to vote for true reformer like Rudy Martinez who will bring real change to Los Angeles City Hall.”
Martinez exhibits here keen campaign decision-making abilities by selecting Hacopian as his chief consultant. Wonder how Huizar Campaign Manager Michael Trujillo will respond to this slap back?

Rudy Bermudez there is a total joke. No chance of being elected and even if hell froze over and he somehow won, he'd be the most incompetent, abused and embarrassing member of the council in city history. It'd take him at least a year just to begin to figure out the job, let alone do anything with it. Why doesn't he take the money he's wasting on this campaign and do something worthwhile with it.

You can be sure the Huizar groupies will be posting and throwing out "personal attacks" against Mr. Martinez instead of sticking to the issues and that is Huizar does not represent the people. His first promise when elected was to AUDIT all the non profits in CD14. He never did it. He lied about Measure B the solor energy, he always VOTES supporting DWP, he LIED about the trash fee hike going to public safety but instead it goes to general fund, he supports his hometown of MEXICO and all the illegals who have moved into the district. He supports gangsters in Ramona Gardens, he made back room deals with developers in dowontown LA I hope the media reports during the campaign, he has no list of accomplishments to speak of, he goes around like the Failure of a Mayor and takes credit for others hard work. He has to put his photo on every event he attends cause no one knows who the hell he is.

Watch "Rudy Rich" on the episodes of "Flip this House" on A&E and you'll know ALL you need to know about his lack of character and personal/professional ethics.

DON'T take my word for it. Watch him in action. PLEASE!

If suggesting that you watch the man who would be CM of CD14 REPEATEDLY lying to homeowners and home buyers and deceiving City inspectors is considered a "personal attack" -- then lets have MORE persoal attacks of people seeking office . . . BEFORE they get their seats in the chair?

(Remember when Tony Villar fans here told us 5 years ago that "character doesn't matter" . . . just because he cheated on his wife and lied to CD14 about not running for mayor, doesn't mean he'll LIE to US, once he's mayor).

No?

Really?

You sure?

Keep following the next flawed candidate off the cliff like lemmings, but WATCH THE TV SHOW, first!

Make up your OWN mind. Don't base your vote on someone else's blanket hatred of the current City Council members.

12:53pm so in other words you say Rudy lies but then what Huizar has done is far worse. Rudy doesn't abuse and misuse tax payer money like Huizar has done for years in the district. Huizar LIED and supported the DWP raise knowing that there are many senior citizens on fixed incomes in his district. Huizar LIED about Measure B and refused to hold any community meetings to get input. Huizar LIED and told the constituents the trash fee hike was to get more cops on the streets knowing it was going to go straight to DWP first then the general fund. 12:53pm how do you explain THOSE lies????

You got those Huizar "lies" on TAPE -- on TV -- giftboxed DVD's available on a cable network website like A&E?

Or are you just flappin' gums? Just passing your interpretation off as someone else lying? That's called HERESAY, bubba! That's called your OPINION! That's called HE SAID/SHE SAID!

Rudy Rich's lies are ON TAPE, watch them yerself. That's called PROOF! That called incriminating EVIDENCE. That's admissable in COURT! That's a death sentence in the "court" of PUBLIC OPINION!

Unless Rudy's got enough money to buy up all those "flippin'" lies and convince A&E to stop airing them, that trumps you just "saying" Huizar's been telling lies.

So, show me the link to where Huizar is TELEVISED lying and encouraging others to -- like Rudy (not just YOUR word for it). Link to where Huizar says he'll do one thing, then does another. Should be easy. He's on TV more each week than Rudy Rich was.

So, where's the video? Where's the links?

Best thing Huizar's campaigners could do is to just STREAM non-stop RR house-flippin' shows to the people of CD14, and let them SEE the man tell his contractors to HIDE those permit violations from the L.A. CITY INSPECTOR!

HIDE that unpermitted work that could even cause human INJURY to some unsuspecting tenant down the line.

HIDE those STUPID mistaked his underlings made because HE wasn't supervising their work properly.

Boy, oh-boy, oh-boy.

THIS is gonna be FUN to watch!

It's some pretty agressive talking by the supporter(s) posting here, but still, Jose is left with a history of poor actions and evasions.

That LA32 meeting last month where Huizar was supposed to show up and explain- or account for- the CLARTS fund spending is one glaring example of Jose's style. Instead he sent Ana Cubas- his chief of staff, (and she reminded the audience of that fact a few more times) to do a song-and-dance diversion/misdirection/stall and all-around non-responsive presentation as his reply to a standing list of questions for Jose to answer. "Need to consult with the city attorney," "we don't have that information," "you can research it yourself with the city controller's office" just didn't cut it, no matter how well Ana thought it did.

And it seemed pretty odd to refer to Nick Pacheco in the audience as a source of clarification since the fund was created by him in CD-14. He didn't help her out and even said he didn't know where all the money went when Antonio succeeded him and said he doesn't know what's the state of that fund now.

Even later, Jose still stood his ground at the Eagle Rock State of the Town meeting a few weeks after the NC32 meeting and he responded to a question asking when he'd respond to what was asked at the NC32 meeting.

To paraphrase, "It's all there in the records" and "We already responded." Most people at the meeting were solidly in his corner

Not good enough. You don't have to hate Huizar to want another CM in office. And there are quite a few CMs in office who are not only doing a bad job but a terrible one- unless you happen to be within the circle of special interest/friends getting the favors.

There's a lot to say for why Jose should not be re-elected but there's lots of time to go over all that between now and the March election. This was just one particular example, and many don't know about them.

Great move to put that sign in the middle of Mexico City. And, that is not a put down. That was a smart idea. The sign is in a location that gets lots of attention from the audience he is looking for.

Smart move!

4:58pmn Anyone with a brain can view all of Huizar votes on the city web site. His weak record speaks for itself. The money he has given to the shady non profits who have supported him should be investigated. Here's another FACT VIDEO CLIP making the rounds around the district of no support for law enforcement but Huizar supports the gangsters in Ramona Gardens. Without knowing the facts Huizar jumps to conclusions and slams LAPD and supports the gangsters.

Huizar voted yesterday to reopen more marijuana shops knowing that people have been killed when they are robbed like poor Julie Butcher's son. Huizar could careless about people and is responsible for sitting on his butt for 4 yrs with Garcetti and Reyes in PLUM to allow over 1,000 pot shops all over the city. He doesn't care that these shops are selling to students and gangsters.

Another reason NOT TO VOTE FOR HUIZAR.
""""A divided City Council threw up a last-minute roadblock to a planned ballot measure that would give council members the power to fire the top executive at the DWP.
The 15-member council failed to get the eight votes required to put the proposal on the March 8 ballot after Councilman Jose Huizar said officials were "overreacting" to recent frustrations with the DWP.
