Senior Citizen Hippies for Meg

From my formerly liberal, 1960s, Black Panther, Brown Beret, Peace and Freedom Mom who got her head stomped by LAPD in 1967 protesting LBJ and the war in Century City:

"Just can't believe it took me so long to see thru the Democratic deceit and fraud!!! Oh my."

She marked her absentee ballot today for Meg Whitman.

Oh boy here we go again! Higby brings his family into the discussion and yells at us if we disagree.

Watch.

A self employed person who makes around one million a year is looking at federal tax increase of about $45,000 if Congress does nothing with the expiring tax rates beginning in 2011. If they had zero deductions, other than state taxes that person would owe combined Federal and CA income tax of about $425,000, then add in their SS and medicare tax of $40,000, total tab of about $465-$470K beginning with tax year 2011, so basically a little less than half before paying any bills. And some wonder why so many people in the country are seriously pissed off.

Top rate was ~90 percent during the Eisenhower Administration; millionaires have a lot less to complain about today in comparison.

Plus there's no draft...so Charles Emerson Winchester IV can safely hang out down at the frat house. Some other fortunate son is fighting the war(s)...

90% of a million dollars was a lot more in 1953 than it is today. Hawkeye could have bought a lot more swill after he got back from Korea than he could today.

And surely Ike inherited that 90% tax rate from the Socialists in the FDR admin.

It took a cold warrior like JFK (who would be considered Republican today) to cut those taxes.

Interesting clothes. More people need to educate themselves like these people did.

I look down on Jerry because he is not as much of a beloved, iconic, prophetic, predictive, legendary, beloved genius of a municipal shady-buster as I am. And he doesn't know how it feels to be, either. Screw him! Why should I vote for someone I can't even look up to. (YES, listed "beloved" twice.)

Actually, the top bracket was lower during FDR's term in every year but 1944...and lower still during Truman. JFK kept the same rate as DDE from 1961-63, according to this source:

See: http://www.truthandpolitics.org/top-rates.php

Of course, that was back in the day when the GOP actually was run by adults.

Which makes the point that Ike could no more win the GOP nomination today than Teddy Roosevelt could.

I'd lay even odds against Lincoln or Goldwater.

Is Higby marking the ballot for his mom?

Higby is so desperate for a Republican win that he's willing to
exploit his mom.

I wish Meg was a stronger Conservative. Unfortunately, too many aren't impressed and will vote for choice number three or four. It will dilute the conservative vote and Brown will win.

Question: Higby, is that a pic of your parents? Did your mom sustain any permanent injuries from the stomp? Good for your parents-they stood up for their beliefs!!

uh, mean no diss to anyone's mom, BUT "getting her head stamped by LAPD" might just be no qualification for telling us how to vote NOW? Especially when you give NO reasons.

i think things are going to turn Meg's way in the final two weeks. Jerry's running out of steam and getting more and more confused as the stress builds. The whole Whoregate thing was interesting as it showed the desperation and lack of control in the Brown camp.

I think Whitman was wise to dodge the Daily News interview

http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_16349435

as they wouldn't have changed their view no matter what she said.

I suspect that Meg has one more "Gate" up her sleeve that will sink Brown about a week before the election, when he will be so stressed and confused that he won't know how to respond.

Probably has to do with who is supporting the campaign financially...

Jerry Brown really does look like an anxious fuddy duddy, like my dad when he can't find his cellular phone.

He comes from an era where men think of women as "broads," and that's ultimately going to cost him.

What does 7:55am know? Perhaps Jerry lost it with the Black community leaders and there's N-Word-Gate to come next?

Or perhaps the Jewish community have "gone Meg" and there will be "Hyme-Gate" scandal.

Or maybe there's nothing because the Brown campaign have managed to keep Jerry away from sharp instruments and telephones?

I think the problem here is a result of the head stomping.

I think Jerry Brown is going to be just fine and Meg is gonna get her butt kicked to the gold-plated curb where she can hang out with the trash-laden morons she raised as sons.

Maybe it's going to be a Meg son Gate where he beats up a girl. Maybe the biggest scandal will be when Meg loses her temper and punches a volunteer.

Well 2:56 a.m., if one of Meg's spoiled rotten racist sons DOES beat up a girl, he'll just get a lawyer like Clown Carmen who handled the USC football team thugs who beat up women and raped them or just banged them or someone around a bit.

He made the victims out to be the money grubbing attention whores going after some hard-charging sports star to get their names in the paper and, with "juice" from his friend DA Steve Cooley's office that he peddled openly, got them off or very light sentences.

And look where it got him AND his players - the L A Slimes turned him into a hero for the rights of thugs and environmental polluters everywhere, and the sports thugs themselves, got away with it making Pete Carroll a $4 million/ a year legend until the Reggie Bush scandal recently, stuff about much lesser matters like money and a car.

But beat up or rape a girl?? NO SWEAT if you're rich or have juice. And in Meg's case they'd accuse the victim of trumping it up for political gain, maybe of being a Brown operative.
