Mitchell Englander: Atrocious
Word on the street is that Mitchell Englander has $400K in his campaign slush fund. He may need it in the year of no incumbents, especially when prominent folks in his District think the following of him:
"I am not in the pockets of lobbyists and I am not running for City Council.
Mr. Englander is both. So in that regard yes, I am less experienced in screwing over a constituency. Less experienced at lobbying for the very things my constituents oppose. Less experienced at playing politics with the public trust - In that regard I cede that Mitch has more experience than I, and I wear that like a badge of honor.
... many people, including myself, believe Mitch is an atrocious candidate for CD 12."
-Jim Alger
Mayor Sam, February 12, 2009
In the most solidly Republican district in the City, the only one where Walter Moore bested Antonio Villaraigosa, a true conservative with chops and dough can rise above the bought and paid for RINO Mitch. So the lesson is attention all CD12 comers - raise some money and you can easily take on Mitchell.
And no Phil, not Walter Moore.

In case someone just moved to Los Angeles and doesn't know anything yet: DON'T VOTE FOR MITCH! (That's all you need to know.)

Problem Mitch has is he's too damn arrogant and a self righteous asshole just like his boss. Notice he has the endorsements of City Council corrupt losers so that raises a HUGE red flag. He thinks just like his boss so Valley folks need to do what they did for Krekorian and beat the hell out of Englander. His uncle no doubt will the corrupt Harvey who owns city hall will exchange favors for his little nephew.

Walter Moore can win in CD 12. He got 41% of the vote for Mayor (or something like that) in CD 12.
I have encouraged him to rent a place there and run. He doesn't seem to want to listen to me.
City Councilman Walter Moore might be able to slow down the freight train of Socialism for the next two years, then run for Mayor with more money and more backing in 2013.

you guys take the cake,
Just a couple posts ago, Rudy Martinez in CD14 reports 200K, ($150,000 of which he gave himself), and he's suppsedly some kind of viable challenger to a sitting incumbent, but this guy Mitch collects TWICE as much, mostly from real supporters, and it's a "slush fund" that he "may need" (when there's no one else even close in terms of fund raising or name recognition), AND, he's not facing an incumbent.
You obviously: 1) don't even read and compare the sh*t you post, and 2) don't take yourselves seriously enough to see how badly this reflects on what limited understanding you think you have of local elections.
Daaaaaamn!
Remind me to never bet on the same horse as the bloggers here. It'll DIE in the starting gates.

I was speaking to someone Sat. who had the sentiments as you.
Except, this was a person who has made a max contribution to Mitch.
Mitch is getting my vote because no one else with a legitimate shot at winning, or even with a remote ability to run the district, is running.
But it's going to take more than 500K to knock him off. He has the endorsements of everyone other council member, he's owed a lot of favors because of favors he's delivered, and his connection to Harvey.
The connection to Harvey stopped being an issue for me when I found out one of his VPs' sister works in Zine's office.

Phil, you are a true fucking idiot.
Unlike vagabonds like you, Walter has an established HOME, where he has undoubtedly lived for years.
He is not going to "rent a small apartment in CD 12, at the behest of Phil Jennerjahn," who knows less than a homeless man about winning an election.
I'm amazed that you can shower and dress yourself each day. You're truly a marvel. An idiot, but a marvel, that someone who never thinks things out, can still manage to crawl to the keyboard for most of the day.

Hey shit for brains (Bill) MITCH is the incumbent!

Englander (nephew-protege of that other lobbyist Englander) has spent the last twelve months wining and dining his way through City Hall’s phone directory and has amassed a list of endorsements that reads like a postmortem of the crises currently plaguing LA.
Lord and Englander are the main attractions here and given Englander’s track record, mud-slinging is sure to start soon. Hopefully CD-12 voters will take a cue from CD-2 and not allow themselves to be bought by glossy mailers and phony endorsements from the usual suspects.

"He doesn't seem to want to listen to me."
That is clearly the dumbest thing you have ever said. Excuse Walter for not wanting to run for City Council.
If only you keep harping on it, I'm sure you'll sway him.

That's true. We have a lot of bloggers that don't take comments. Come to Mayor Sam for your own soapbox!

Folks, the council couldn't even make a quorum today because not enough councilmembers showed up to a regularly scheduled meeting as they're required to do by the City Charter.
It's time for a Bell revolt. Our City Council and Mayor are actually much worse than the elected officials in the City of Bell.
How bout sometime after the election. Maybe November 10th at
10 AM at City Hall. Bring your anger.

Well, Mitch Englander has gone through more than the city hall phone book.
I got an email from him today urging my vote and a contribution.
I live in CD 14 and have no clue who he is. What's up with that?

The deadline for Residency has passed, I believe.
I believe it was October 9th.
Check the City Clerk's website...so, at this point, nobody can move into the district to establish residency...too late.
But I'm sure there's great potential candidates that already live in the district.
You just have to encourage them to run. Or Walter does. I'm sure Walter knows some qualified people in CD12 (through his Mayoral run) that could make a run against Mitch.

Here's a thought for those who live in CD 12:
In the City of Los Angeles, we have seen the hours for parks and libraries cut back, and even public safety - the only dedicated hazardous materials unit in the San Fernando Valley, at Fire Station 87 in Granada Hills, which could have been kept in service for $50,000 - is apparently being cut (see Daily News article of August 20, 2010):
http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_15842813
Interestingly enough, in the data released this month from the Controller's office are the CD 12 staff numbers and salaries - 17 positions, with a roughly $1.4 million budget for personnel costs alone.
These include the councilmember, making $178,000 annually, and his top assistant, at $154,000 a year; plus 12 more aides, each making from $50,000 to $70,000 a year; and another three more making from $38,000 to $46,000.
I can think of a lot of ways those resources could be better used to benefit the City, especially the residents of Council District 12. Of course, such uses would be at the discretion of the councilmember for CD 12. Here are some suggestions:
1. Additional police and fire staffing dedicated to CD 12 (say, a dedicated hazardous materials unit?);
2. A deputy city attorney dedicated to enforcement of quality of life issues (zoning, planning and land uses, etc) and prosecutions in CD 12;
3. A building and safety inspector dedicated to enforcement of quality of life issues in CD 12 (say, illegal group homes);
4. A dedicated auditor/inspector to push collections of fines and payments owed to the city, with anything recovered being dedicated for use in CD 12;
5. Library and parks/rec staff positions to keep these assets open in the afternoons and evenings;
I'm sure we can all come up with additional ideas - any of which would be better than simply paying people to help get their councilmember re-elected - or, in the incumbent lite's case, being elected in the first place.
Best -
Brad Smith

9:09pm, we've already had that opportunity blown.
Recall City Hall was the project that was SUPPOSED to be done succesfully by MORONIC Phil Jennerjahn, but due to a lack of SKILL, a lack of DETERMINATION, and FINANCIAL HIJINX, the idea of a recall fell by the wayside by Phil who decided he'd rather pose for photos in sunglasses on a cloudy day, and his strong prefence to GAMBLE instead of accomplish goals.
Phil, you need to get help for your GAMBLING, GAMBLING, GAMBLING. I think you may have a problem. "Noone" votes for a GAMBLER.

He should be doing toothpaste commercials. Why doesn't Jim Alger run, oh I forget, he is not bought and paid for by special interests. Oh and he has community experience another downside.

If you all read what is happening throughout the nation on elections it is interesting and surprising. The People are electing candidates who aren't name recognized, have little money and some are just regular people. The incumbents are getting creamed and taken out. Its not going to take a lot of money for any of the district candidates. All it will take is one or two good hits of bad publicity. That goes a long way and people are so fed up with gov't now, they want anyone who is not aligned with the inside corrupt council. Mitch's big problem is he's been suing city time to campaign, used council resources and his uncle's mailing list to solicit to people and let's face it, what has he done. I don't know this guy Brad who posted but he sure sounds like he knows a lot.

11:39pm... when did walter moore become a voice that drives election results in this city?
He has never won a race himself.
I don't see how an endorsement from him is a game changer.
As far as other candidates go in CD12, there are 2 or 3 that I can think of who would be a threat to Mitch. But they're not going to run because either they don't have access to the money OR because they don't want to risk upsetting the Mitch machine, should Mitch won.

mitch is the worst choice you can make. I HOPE BRAD SMITH JOINS THE OTHER 4 CANDIDATES IN CD 12 TO DEBATE ALSO HE NEEDS TO SHOW FOR CLEAN SWEEP DEBATES IN NOVEMBER. IF YOU QUESTION MITCH OR HIS MOTIVES JUST LOOK AT ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ENDORSED HIM YOU MAY LIKE SOME OF THEM BUT THEY ALL GET INSIDE FAVORS WHETHER IT'S FREE PARKING DOWNTOWN OF MONEY THROWN TO THEIR LITTLE ORGANIZATIONAL CAUSES. WE NEED SOMEONE WHO REPRESENTS INDIVIDUAL TAXPAYERS NOT ORGANIZATIONS WITH PERSONAL INTERESTS. THAT'S WHY MANY OF THESE SUPPORTERS HATE DISCLOSURE IF YOU KNEW YOU WOULD JOIN ME AND SUPPORT REAL HUMAN CANDIDATES.

Trojan 2002 - who are the other 2 candidates that you believe could have given Mitch a run for his money if they had raised the same amount of cash? You actually think Mitch is capable of running the district, which most average folks don't believe.
I see a lot of Englander's money comes from the taxi companies which is a big issue here in CD 12 and Greig Smith took all of their money too. It appears Mitch just took Greig's donor list and called everyone.
That's what Brad Smith should do. Contact every person on that donor list, the trash companies, the Indian population (wonder what they want from him?), the developers and his uncle Harvey's friends and their WIVES. Instead of lobbyists in LA giving Mitch money, they did it in their wives' names. Whoa that was tricky. That will fool all of us here.
There is a lot of hate out there for Englander. He is calling every number in GH asking random people for their endorsement. Some people are saying yes to get him off the phone and they have no intention of voting for him.
Someone tell those Sunshine Canyon opponents that he is taking money from Arnie Berghoff's wife.
