Saturday Hotsheet
With the City in a deep financial doo doo Los Angeles' elected leaders are being asked to share the pain but some of them are going kicking and screaming. Ten of Los Angeles City Council members have agreed to some pay cut, five have not. Newest member Paul Krekorian and President Eric Garcetti have agreed to a 10% pay cut. Krekorian's staff has also volunteered for pay and budget cuts and have given up all their City owned cars. The Mayor has agreed to a 16% cut while Controller Wendy Greuel is forgoing 7%. However Councilman Bernard Parks and City Attorney Carmen Trutanich are among those refusing to cut their pay.
What is one reason to vote yes on the coming California ballot measure to legalize pot, according to CurbedLA? With legal pot in stores drug related violence in Mexico could lessen.
It was good for Hillary Clinton so why not for a neighborhood council? Silver Lake daVine reports that The Silver Lake Neighborhood Council will be open today for "listening." Whatever that means.
The LAPD will mark 100 years of women in the Department with a special event on Monday. On September 12th 1910 Alice Stebbins Wells was hired by the LAPD and became the first policewoman in the United States. This progressive move by the LAPD inspired many other departments nationwide to hire women as officers.
Following their two week Labor Day holiday some Council members have come back with facial hair. Eric Garcetti is sporting a full growth of beard while Ed Reyes has grown a mustache. Of course LAist is doing a poll to see which one looks better.

... here in Sunland Tujunga we had a public meeting by the city. but only 'TO LISTEN' to their new 'ideas', no public response;
hope that this 'listening' is quite the opposite

Krekorian: The only leader on the Council.

Krekorians' getting filled with himself. Says little and when he does, kind of pompous. Really cut Perry off and pissed her off Thurs. when she was arguing in favor of a more extensive and uniform process by which prospective LAX concession and other vendors could apply. (If I recall correctly what it was: she was actually making some sense. Got so flustered she was literally stammering, he was so rude to her.)

Tutoonich, as LaBonge said, is the MOST All About ME egotistical bully hypocrite. barely literate, ego and money-obsessed Clown to have hit lA, even worse than the All About Me Mayor. Worse he threw everyone who he misled into supporting him from Laura Chick and the stupid pro-Med 420 people to Perry, even the cops, under the bus barely before he charged out of the bullpen.
Worse than he won't take a pay cut Mr. "People's Lawyer," is that we don't know how much he's wasting on Jane the Joke's botched, overly restrictive shop closure ordinance (she was amply WARNED by the B & S folk repeatedly in Council this would happen), lots of lawsuits the city will lose but the Nooch will fight anyway. We don't know HOW MUCH he's wasting because he won't let the Controller audit him after solemn promises to do so, how convenient for him.
Or trying to find "criminal aspects" to AEG and LAPD and unnamed everyone's he asked to come forward, before a HUGE mea culpa and "I luv ya, can you raise money for me too?" to AEG's Leiwike.
Nice try on circumventing the City Charter and the entire L A leadership such as it is, on his unique Grand Jury powers.
He insists on expanding his dept. while everyone else is cutting. "Found" funds for secret investigators after being told the city couldn't afford them.
If the guy were anything BUT Carmen the Clown his pay wouldn't matter.
Question is, who'll throw the other under the bus first: him or Jane the Joke?

If something like that rattled Jan Perry, she doesn't belong in politics.

We are incredibly lucky to have gotten Paul Krekorian on our City Council!
Boo hoo Jan. What's up with that?

What 5 councilmembers are refusing pay cuts?

Bernard Parks is the highest paid elected official in the country, making more than the President of the United States. Why should he cut his salary or pension? Oh. I remember. He's a fiscal conservative.
