New CNN-Times Poll; Brown Dominates Whitman 52%-43% of Likely Voters

"The one state in the new poll where third party candidates are playing no role is California, where Democrats Barbara Boxer and Jerry Brown have cemented leads over their GOP opponents. Boxer pulled away from Republican challenger Carly Fiorina, a former Hewlett-Packard CEO, in her bid for a fourth Senate term. Boxer leads Fiorina 52% to 43% among likely voters. That's a significant improvement from earlier this month when a CNN-TIME-Opinion Research poll found Boxer just edging past Fiorina amongst likely voters 48% to 44%. Likewise in the gubernatorial race, Brown leads former eBay CEO Meg Whitman 52% to 43% among likely voters, a reversal of fortunes for Brown who earlier this month was losing to Whitman 46% to 48% in a poll conducted Sept. 2-7. Brown and Boxer both benefit from moderates breaking for them: 59% for Boxer to Fiorina's 32% and 59% for Brown to Whitman's 36%. " TIME

Polls don't mean anything if they don't take into account the likely voter turnout, and both of these organizations do not. Their polling model assumes the same turnout as the last election, which is majorly flawed. I don't know what the outcome will be, but if the poll is by CNN-NYT, take it with a grain of salt.

This whole story today about the illegal housekeeper she hired and employed for years will be a major distraction to her campaign since they will be responding to it for the next few days. It also plays into the narrative that she's hypocritical.

It appears that the Republicans are losing every major race in Calif except for the AG race, and that's only because a lot of Dems are planning to cross over and vote for Steve Cooley.

I support Jerry Brown because I remember his governorship. He made Prop 13 work even though he didn't like it; he acknowledged it as the will of the people. He was adept at balancing budgets and saved lots of jobs around LA, especially aerospace jobs. 1979 was an awful year and Carter was an awful president but it was said at the time that our state was fairly "recession-proof." It wasn't, it was simply good work by people in office.

Conversely, Whitman is the ridiculous consequence of a glorified garage sale of a company made by irrational exuberance. eMeg, on board for about six months when eBay went public, was installed as the straw-stooge and investor conduit for Jeffrey Skoll, who was guaranteed the most IPO money as part of the deal. (It is hilarious how team Meg has whitewa$hed this on wikipedia). The 1998 IPO that infused the company with ungodly amounts of money that made it a player in junk retail, and it sure wasn't by thinking much about jobs for commonfolks that Whitman from Princeton and Bain & Co. brought her sharks into the feeding frenzy for cash. There is nothing about her that doesn't reek, positively reek, of greed. She'll do it again as governor, if she gets a chance, handing over vital public services to greasy clowns in Sunnyvale who know Cobalt and C and nothing about human beings.

The illegal issue will not hurt here because the extremes of each side have already made up their mind. But threatening a new mother with termination - that's going to touch a chord. Essentially Meg said, fuck your baby - take care of mine because I own you. I hope the maid and Gloria milk this for all it's worth, what better way to expose the plight of abused undocumented workers than with a $120 million dollar lead in.

Republican = Hypocrisy. And you wonder why socially conservative Latinos don't support the GOP. Meg is toast, and it was cooked up by a Latina maid. Eat it!!

Don't be so quick to write off Meg Whitman. Today's stunt by Allred is going to backfire on Moonface Brown, big time.

Both Brown and Whitman have been dancing around the whole illegal alien thing for too long. Now the line's been drawn in the sand and thankfully, due to the outrageous sense of entitlement displayed by Nicky Diaz, Californians now have a much clearer idea of the way illegal aliens regard their occupation of the USA.

They feel entitled to lie about their illegal status; Nicky Diaz never once said "I told Meg I was in the country illegally," but Allred tried to make out that Whitman should have known. Well what did Whitman know? She knew Nicky came from an employment agency, not a street corner. She knew Nicky had a social security number and a driver license. And she knew she had to pay Nicky and deduct taxes, which she did for 9 years. Right up until Nicky tearfully admitted she was illegal and wanted "help."

What kind of "help" did Nicky want? In her 9 years with Whitman, Nicky wasn't so stupid that she didn't know that without an amnesty, she had to return to Mexico and apply for residency, and wait in line. Let's face it, there's a network amongst illegals, they all talk and they all know that there are no short cuts (unless you're Obama's illegal alien aunt).

So when Nicky asked for "help" what she wanted was a payoff, enough money to disappear. But Whitman did not give in to blackmail. It would have been easy enough for Meg to pay Nicky - she's thrown a fortune at this election, but in one action Meg Whitman demonstrated that she has the character and wisdom that's so lacking in US politics. She fired Nicky.

Never mind that Nicky had lied to Meg and her family for the last 9 years. Never mind the betrayal of trust that must have made Meg sick to the gut. Meg did the right thing for the right reason, and when the dust settles, I think Californians will see that and send a loud and clear message at the ballot box.

Gloria Allred thought she was helping Jerry Brown, but in effect what she has done is help Whitman. Allred has defined what this election will be about, and it's simply this; where do you stand on illegal immigration now that you've seen the way that Nicky and 12 million like her, regard us.

I gotta say this whole issue about Whitman and the illegal maid is backfiring on the Brown campaign. Shows how ignorant they are with regards to the Legal born Latinos in CA. Just yesterday about 10 friends who were going to vote for Brown switched and now are voting for Whitman. I'm still on the fence. However, this Illegal maid has brought up the issue of the criminal activity going on in our city and how they use falsified documents to get a job. Did this maid pay taxes and file with IRS? I know many rich people in Beverly Hills who are actors and producers and use Agencies that do background checks and bond these maids. The responsibility lies with them. This will back fire on the Brown campaign because with 73% of Americans tired of the illegal influx into our nation Whitman will reap up the rewards.

The illegal FORGED documents and STOLE someone's identity. This was the only time anyone involved broke the law. The illegal CROOK did it. She came here illegally. She stole and forged. Whitman has a lock-solid excuse: the fake documents the illegal gave her.

Finally some good news for Meg. Her previous housekeeper, who can barely speak English hired Allred. This is a gift from heaven for Meg. I thought she was too liberal for me and was going to just sit out this election and watch Ca. go further down the liberal toilet.
When Meg dug deeper after she decided to run for governor, she found out about the maid's suspicious documentation and she dumped her. Tells me she's thorough and has the right stuff.
Too boot for a billionaire, her house is only 3750 sq./ft. which may be smaller than folks with Allred's resources.
Finally... a boring campaign brings a ravaged middle-class out to vote. She wasn't going to get the Hispanic vote anyway.
Now the rest of us sideliners that were lukewarm towards her are reinvigorated.
GO MEG!

Maybe Meg was taught a lesson by Nikki and that is why she now holds her position.

Nikki and Gloria (who wrote the script for Nikki) accuses Meg as treating her as though she wasn't even human. That's some claim to throw out there. Was this the work condition? Does Meg not even treat people like humans?

I would not vote for Whitman in a million elections. But this whole thing turns me off to a whole bunch of things.

8:33AM - Meg's not being let off the hook, she's not on the hook at all. Your comparison to Jerry's illegal alien housekeeper is defective. Meg fired the illegal alien in June 2009, when the illegal alien "asked for help." That was the first that Meg knew about the illegal's deception. Meg announced her run for Governor in April 2009, 2 months before the illegal alien came clean. If Meg had known that Nicky Diaz was an illegal, she would have fired her before April. But she didn't and that's because she didn't know.

Jerry's situation is altogether different because he would not have fired an illegal alien regardless of whether or not the illegal had lied to him, or shown him a forged driver license and social security card.

That's the kinda guy Jerry is.
