I had the pleasure of being the videographer for the Brown Campaign today in East LA. The occasion was the Mexican Independence Day Parade and Festival, an annual event that draws thousands to Cesar Chavez Blvd. Jerry spoke at the event for less than a minute after which the crowd erupted in a standing ovation and with chants of his name. The celebration and chants continued along the entire packed parade route as the star of "Machete", Danny Trejo, stood on the second level of the double decker Brown bus leading the cheers. Meg may have an office in the area, but from what I saw and heard today, Jerry Brown undoubtedly owns the respect and admiration of the residents of East LA.
This post is, of course, just an excuse so that I can once again embed the trailer for "Machete". In theaters now!

Of course, Joe leaves out that a huge # of those who reside in the area are unable to vote, whether due to not being a citizen or being a parolee.

To the person who said Meg was a no show, she wasn't there because she wasn't invited by the person organizing the event. I know this for a fact.
Uh-Oh Meg Higby couldn't take it anymore that Jerry was getting face time on the blog and just bottlecapped it.
Why would they invite Meg? This was a Brown campaign event.

Meg didn't show up because she was afraid she would be pelted with tortillas and then have Boxer hair.
No Higby is right. The Brown people paid for that event.

JOe why didn't you post all the politicians including the Mayor who wear carrying Mexican flags. Monica Garcia walking down the street with her Mexico flag, Huizar on a horse in a Marachi outfit looked like a clown shouting Viva Mexico and Zacaratecas...Is it any wonder why the illegals are flocking to Los Angeles. I hope Obama enforces the e verifying system. You can't blame people if employers break the law and hire them. 9/11 came and went in LA without much fan fare. Our American Independence Day gets no fan fare from our politicians. These politicians aren't proud Americans. Its shameful

That's absolutely disgraceful that elected officials would be displaying the flag of a foreign country.
Why are they celebrating a holiday of a foreign country anyway A declaration of American patriotism is taken when you become a public official. We had to sign one before we even got our CERT certificates.
Can anything be done about this?
