Polls Not Looking Good for Some Candidates

Gavin is bad ass!
This just in!

Republican political operatives closely aligned with Meg Whitman's campaign have begun to see what the slate of candidates looks like that will be going head to head with what many are calling the most diverse slate of Republican candidates in California Republican history.

Here are their internal results – with one race being particiuarly concerning to them.

Lieutenant Governor:

Gavin Newsom – 39%
Janice Hahn – 33%
Eric Korevaar – 11%
Undecided – 15%

The Republican Party is rooting for a Newsom win – and quite frankly so am I. (Recall we were the first blog in the state to report that Prince Newsom was dropping out) Gavin Newsom will be used as an anchor to tie down Attorney General Jerry Brown and the entire Democratic Party ticket. We need Gavin so I am urging all Mayor Sam readers to donate to his race so we can have a clean sweep in November

Even though Newsom released a poll that showed it 47%-26% my “right-thinking” political operative friends tell me that was before any mail had hit and the Hahn campaign has unloaded with several mail pieces while the first Newsom piece landed last night. Their internals have the Voted Already numbers a dead heat 34%-32%. Hat tip to the Hahn campaign for making it close.

Insurance Commissioner:
Dave Jones: 37%
Hector De La Torre: 29%
Undecided: 33%

Insurance Commissioner is pretty low-level job and whoever wins will be skewered by Assemblyman Mike Villines as part of the Sacramento problem of higher taxes and out-of-balance budgets.

Donate to Mike at: http://mikevillines.com

Attorney General:
I personally like District Attorney Steve Cooley and think he will be beat whoever the Democrats put up.

But this might be some not-so-great-news for the Harris campaign, who Republicans really want to see as the Dem nominee as well.

Attorney General

Chris Kelly: 16%
Kamala Harris: 15%
Rocky Delgadillo: 11%
Pedro Nava: 10%
Ted Lieu: 5%
Alberto Torrico: 4%
Undecided: 39%

I believe this is the first poll showing Chris Kelly with some sort of a lead or “traction” as the pros like to put it.

Again we want “anti-death penalty” Kamala Harris to go win this – so again I urge a donation to

Alright folks – remember this is the place for politics – Los Angeles or Statewide.

Welcome Corbet, but I may cross party lines and vote for De La Torre if he makes it to November.

If I remember Villine's head is on someone's stick.

Unless Mr. Schwartz resides outside of the state of California, or unless he doesn't pay taxes, this is a made up name.

I thought that the time for fake names like Red Spot's are over. Why make up new ones now?

There is no taxpaying Corbett Schwartz in the state according to the ftb.

The individuals who complain the most are the same people who continue to vote for the LACK of LEADERSHIP, including the career politicians like Villaraigosa, Alarcon, Cardenas, Koretz, Wesson, Krekorian, politicians into office.

Let’s start the NO vote campaign against Lt. Gov. Candidate Janice Hahn on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 or STOP complaining.

12 days left for June 8 and counting!

I'm voting for Fitzgerald because Villines was in the assembly. He doesn't get a pass. On the other hand, I'm holding my nose and voting for Maldonado.

Not Janice Hahn. Please NOT Janice Hahn.

Janice Hahn should not be lieutenant governor or even city councilwoman is her record. Hahn is loosely qualified now and was inadequately qualified in 2001 when she coat tailed on her brother's mayoral race and her father's name.

Fast forward to 2009 and it is not Hahn's qualifications that make her the wrong choice: It is her failed leadership and political practices.

When you remain silent and allow the police chief to take 40 cops out of your area during a time when the city adds 1,000 cops to the force because you need a political endorsement, when you allow Eastview Little League to stay in limbo for five years then displace these children to play in an area you yourself have called "the diesel death zone," when you divide a community on Ponte Vista because you fear any decision would hurt you politically and hope to delay a decision until you are out of office, when you blatantly lie to your community about a proposition (Proposition A) you sponsor to help yourself during a time you are under investigation for misusing gang prevention funds, when you cannot develop the waterfront because you are at odds with the port and the mayor as a political strategy, when you are compromised by donors from outside your district because they account for 80 percent of the money you raise, when your hometown has added more tattoo parlors than schools, bakeries, libraries and cops combined during your time in office, you do not deserve the community's support or deserve to be its representative.

These are the reasons to oppose Janice Hahn; these are the facts; this is her record. I am tired of the same random letters that defend Hahn from people who directly or indirectly receive money from the Councilwoman (aka Frank O’Brien, Liz Johnson, Stephanie Mardesich). Just think what we could have accomplished in the past eight and half years if Janice had been committed to our future instead of hers.

The biggest reason of all to vote NO for Janice Hahn is Fox 11 Chris Blatchford piece blatantly showing her paying gang bangers. She supports gang members just like the other Mexican Mafia Thugs on council like Cardenas, Alarcon, Huizar, Reyes. A bunch of TJ idiots who support and do more for people illegally here in our city then their legal constituents.

Whose Corbett Schwartz, besides an avowed Republican party advocate?

Your poll number on Kelly vs Harris seem wrong though, even the Met News- Enterprise which is Republican to the core of owner Roger M Grace, has her significantly ahead. There's no doubt his piles of money are buying lots of hits on her and a nasty hit website, but that's working to the benefit of the Republicans and splits Democrats.

Cooley's in a dead heat with the next biggest name and Eastman has a 15% spoiler amount, it's an open race.

If Harris is smart she'll push the fact that there's an injunction on Steve Cooley to stop retaliating and discriminating against his own Deputy DA's: US District Court Judge Otis Wright II wrote 2 months ago that the prosecutors in his office have "established a course of explicit retaliation that is both striking and rampant."

Meanwhile his handpicked assistants get the plum jobs, and he's now going after high-profile cases like Michael Jackson's doctor, the medical marijuana dispensaries that his tool Trutanich promised to support to get himself elected, joke on them, and of course Polanski. Trying to appease his party's right who think he's soft on crime because of his take on Three Strikes. Nothing more dangerous than a DA with power to throw it around arbitrarily for political gain.

Either Harris or Kelly would be a lot less retaliatory and open, and even Rocky's probably learned a thing or two from his mistakes.
Anyone but Cooley.

Hope they find out it is gatto!

Mike Villines won't be skewering anyone for higher taxes because he has voted for them and been attacked by Tom McClintock as a liar. Brian Fitzgerald works in the Department and is not a politician and should get your vote.
