KABC's Phillips to Start New Show Tonight
Longtime KABC radio producer, sports reporter and frequent fill-in host John Phillips will begin tonight as the permanent host of the station's evening program replacing longtime host Al Rantel who has retired from broadcasting for health reasons. I had the privilege of attending Phillips' celebratory party Saturday night which was a star studded affair with some of local radio's legendary luminaries in attendance such as Doug McIntyre, Dan Avey (legendary newsman and longtime LA Kings color commentator), Tammy Bruce, attorney Gloria Allred and Marc Germain. Phillips is an excellent host who despite his success remains an unpretentious nice guy. Tune in weeknights on KABC AM 790 from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Saturday evenings 7:00 p.m. to midnight when the Dodgers aren't playing.Labels: john phillips, kabc

I knew there was something that I didn't like about this guy. He looks like he's eight years old.
Why is he leaning to his right? Is one of his legs shorter than the other? He looks like a younger, gayer (if that is possible) version of al runtel.
He looks creepy. In a few years he'll look even more washed-out, al albino like Doug McIntyre. What happens when you sit in a basement all day ranting and then sleep the rest of daylight hours, getting up before dawn to start all over.
Phillips is a major homo, not that there is anything wrong with that. So is rantell.
It was a super fun party and a good time was had by all. John is wonderful host. His success is well deserved!
That's true Brooke. John was more than gracious in making sure everyone's drink was always full!
I sort of miss Al Rentel. He's only about 40----too old to retire for health reasons.
