Good idea. Even if you don't like the mayor. But I agree his office should have mobilized long ago, why not starting with the NC's? This is the kind of thing they're perfectly set up for, community service. It's a great way for neighbors to meet while doing something good.

Let's party!!!! And, if you're a gang member or city employee you have lots to party about... and share the same loyalties!!!!

8:06pm WTF? The village idiot Jeff Carr who is the joke of the gang banger world who knows nothing and getting paid over $125,000 is helping the gang banger Mayor get people. Who do you think is paying for this? WE ARE. Antonio doesn't care about community service. This is all about the bad publicity Antonio has gotten Times poll, the girlfriend dumping him, the booing at Laker game... Emails were flying telling NC's not to go. Stay in your own community and do the work, why go downtown to make Antonio look good for a photo op. Please post who the hypocrites are who attend on Mayor Sam. At NC meetings the politicans get reamed and the NC's say they can't stand the Mayor.

What's The Sojourners group Jeff Carr used to be #2 guy of? Is he still part of this group? I think they conduct military missions internationally.

Someone anonymously gave ZD tickets to shady mayor Villar's inauguration this Wednesday at City Hall. Super-Nuch Trutanich and that chick who is friends with Cuomo also to be sworn in. Plus, a bunch of small potato turkeys who just drove the city into bankruptcy will be re-inaugurated, plus the newest roll-over puppet will be put in place.
ZD will be there early to help set up the chairs so he can take the first one.
I'll try not to blaze any medical marijuana right before hand, so I don't smell up the area with chronic smell.
And I don't want the other ticket to go to waste, so maybe I'll bring that guy who sleeps on the bus stop bench right by City Hall, cause he would probably enjoy being near, and talking to everyone there.
I'll be sure not to take a shower between now and then to save water for DWP, but promise to wear my nicest (although dirty and wrinkled up) "Zuma Dogg" T shirt I made with the magic markers.
SEE YOU WEDNESDAY WENDY! BE CAMERA READY, EVERYONE! Zuma Dogg always is!

I'd say nothing stops a bullet like free money from the city via the taxpayers. Jeff Carr has done NOTHING to put the kaibosh on gang activity. He's an enabler-- like anyone else who's part of the mayor's 24 million dollar "prevention-intervention" money-pit. "Day of service"-- my ass! 8:06-- you're either a blind, naive fool or you're on the take.

You got that right Rita. Anyone who thinks the village idiot Jeff Carr has done one thing to help gang violence is ignornant. Carr is an outsider and needed a Thomas Guide map to find the gangs when he came to LA. LAPD gang officers also think he's an idiot but have to put up with him. Carr drives to homicides to pretend he's someone but he gets in the way. Carr thinks if you pray for gang bangers they will change. He's a tax payer waste. He tries to take credit like Antonio for Summer Nights program. Fact is you take away LAPD from that program and you have NOTHING. But the Mayor and Carr think they know better.

What a misanthropic bunch of comments on the whole -- and the hatred heaped on first person for actually wanting people to try something positive is indicative of the bent of most regulars on this blog. Fact that Rita, also fondly known as "that old bag of silicone" is the "voice" not only of this blog but is KevinJames' fondest commenter who speaks his mind says it all. (Her new photo featuring him instead of blackface is at least an improvement of SORTS, I THINK.)

Poor Carr actually gives a shout out on his Twitter early Saturday for Mayor Sam mentioning him -- maybe he IS dumb, if he doesn't know that is a sure invitation to getting whacked with a baseball bat like a pinata.

Can someone please post where we vote for the Mayor's True Angels? We want to vote for Zuma and Mayor Sam. They have been crucial in helping the residents of this city learn about issues we would not have known about.
You two are TRUE Angels to many of us.

Having lived in Glassell Park over 40 years, I truly want to believe something is being done to help combat crime issues. I've seen the city come and go over the past decades to help clean up the Drew/Estara neighborhood. It works for a awhile then it goes back to the way it was. I hear illegal drug sales are still going on and from my house you see the LAPD helicopters circling the neighborhood almost every night. Clearly the city is not capable of dealing with these issues when they had to bring in the Feds and County to help. As they say, only time will tell.

Anybody see San Antonio on "Eyewitness Newsmakers" this morning?
What a joke. That reporter has no guts at all. The whole show is just Tony dodging as usual and that chick has no chops - she just sits there and lets him.
I wish I hadn't wasted my time this morning. Doesn't anyone have the chops to ask the mayor the hard questions?
Looking forward to that predicted indictment.

No one watches Channel 7 anymore. Notice how many times they've been to city council getting awards from Antonio. They lost their crediability a long time ago. They air puff pieces like a pr team for Antonio. Their ratings are in the tank.
Why isn't the American media reporting the whole story on Michael Jackson like the rest of the world?
...Grace Rwaramba (kids Nanny) had ties to the black militant organization, the Nation of Islam, and Louis Farrakhan, whom she enlisted for help in running Jackson’s affairs. the Nation was supplying Jackson’s security detail and Farrakhan’s son-in-law, Leonard Muhammad, was appointed as Jackson’s business manager, though his role has lessened significantly in recent years.
In late 2008, a shadowy figure who called himself Dr Tohme Tohme suddenly emerged as Jackson’s ‘official spokesman’. Tohme accompanied Jackson to a meeting at a Las Vegas hotel with Randy Phillips, chief executive of the AEG Group, to finalise plans for Jackson’s return to the concert stage. Before long, however, ten concerts had turned into 50 and the potential revenues had skyrocketed. ‘The vultures who were pulling his strings somehow managed to put this concert extravaganza together behind his back, then presented it to him as a fait accompli,’ said one aide.

The L A Garment & Citizen, downtown freebie that gets some good city hall inside scoops once in a while, has heard that Antonio's staff failed to get churches to show for their 6/16 kick-off to the census.
They may be boycotting unless Obama is willing to fasttrack legalizing illegals like he promised, as they've threatened to do. Which would mean that we in L A still have the burden of their social costs -- schools, hospitals, free lunches and welfare to their kids, prison and jail costs -- but would get even less fed reimbursement. That's their idea of getting even with Antonio for not having more influence with Obama? Dumb.
Meanwhile last week, Alarcon, Cardenas, Huizar, Garcetti and ZINE who claims in public to oppose this when it suits him sponsored a motion to urge Obama to push this legalization (without consequences).
He did in fact promise to do so within his first year, which is why La Opinion and other long-time Clinton faithful Latino papers and individuals endorsed him instead, but now he's realizing that there's no support for it "at this time." So we in L A will be stuck with even more of their bill?
WHAT are these councilmembers (and supporters which include most of the council and Assembly) going to do about that? Passing city "motions" doesn't do squat for our getting money to take care of them. Those churches ought not be tax-exempt if they're going to play politics to our disadvantage. IF they can't render onto Caesar what's due him and keep their noses on religion.

I agree that the vultures feeding on Jackson's corpse are the real story. Starting with Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who both lost no time in showing up to "advise the family" on how to run their affairs.
Sharpton helping convince the already avaricious patriarch Joe Jackson that the family was getting ripped off on their rights to albums, music, family photos (the nanny has a treasure trove) etc. Joe who Michael blamed for depriving him of his childhood to turn him into a money-making machine. Beatings included when Michael wanted to play instead. Joys of child stardom. He did tell his friend Rabbi Shmuely Boteach he wouldn't have traded his musical life for a normal childhood, but what did he have to compare it to?
The media is part of the vulture feeding frenzy, look at the Times as well as all the tv outlets, TMZ which is to be expected, etc. It was irresponsible of the Times to publish maps showing where JAX's Bel Air rented home was as well as Neverland, UCLA med center etc. How much did WE have to pay for the extra police/ sheriff security, road closures, interruption to UCLA medical center which had to curtail normal admissions, jams on Hollywood Blvd., etc.? The tour buses were out in force though, and it did seem better managed than the Paris Hilton and Britney debacles -- the cops seem to have learned from it.

It sure bothers white racists like 12:47 that blacks have their own leaders, spokespersons and culture apart from whites. No African American "vultures" were circling for Jackon's world tour. He was an artist deeply in debt who needed it for himself. And he was a drug addict with dubious ability to sustain the tour.
The Nation of Islam didn't feed Michael the demerol and pills he'd been using for decades. Had he asked they would have said to stop the drugs. Without the drugs, that tour would've gone off fabulously and the white creditors who were banging down Michael's door would've been fed. This isn't a black esploiters vs. the good whiteys story. Stop making it one.

Didn't they just prove today that it was a rumor that he was getting the Demerol cocktails? That doctor was investigated and his property (car and possessions inside of it) has been released back to him.
Michael Jackson is a huge celebrity. He's a genius with just enough madness to make him newsworthy, but nobody has proven that whole addicted to drug rumor so I'm tired of hearing it.
He's an excellent pop musician with enough hit albums and fans to be worthy of the sympathetic outpouring right now and the stress of his life could have easily just given him a heart attack. He was working out with Hulk Hogan or someone like him.
He's the talk of the town in death as he was in life. I feel very sorry for his family. I've met Jermaine several times around the neighborhood and sometimes people forget that no matter how abnormal, deep down they just wanted to be a normal family.
May he rest in peace.
Leave him alone and go off on the freaking live politicians who are out to harm you. The exact opposite of what the pathetic Michael Jackson wanted to do.
Anonymous said:
Everyone knew Michael was a junky so stop claiming it's racism, previous poster -- and your paranoia that we should "go off on the politicians who are out to harm you" is sick. Some yes, but that's a sick way to approach ALL politics.
Deepak Chopra refused to give him Rx's when Michael went to his center and it was clear to him Michael was hooked -- was trying unsuccessfully to wean himself. There are too many MD "enablers" all over show biz. Michael also was sued by a Beverly Hills pharmacy for stiffing them on a $100,000 bill for heavy narcotics. Just two examples of "proof." They are NUMEROUS -- those who deny it are in denial but stop attacking those who tell the truth. It doesn't diminish Michael, just shows how weak he was. Like a lot of "stars."
