Parke speaks................................

He lurks, sighs, mutters, and for the right price, will spin you into the next political flavor of the moment.

The man, legend, sans the helmet, makes an public utterance in the heated race to replace Hilda Solis in the California 32nd Congressional District.

In yesterday's "PARKE SPINS THE OLD GRAY HAG ON SPRING STREET" (kinda like the old days when the Times accepted Parke's spin as the truth, remember Nick and "Madres of East Los Angeles"??), the guy who has his own private street in the hills above the masses in CD 1 & 14, makes light of State Senator Gil Cedillo claims that chief challenger, California State Board of Equalization Member Judy Chu gave "tax breaks and contracts" to her corporate campaign contributors.

.......and this response from Parke,

Parke Skelton, Chu's campaign consultant, said Cedillo (D-Los Angeles) "is misrepresenting her record. . . . Is he truly arguing that people who overpaid taxes can't get refunds?"

Memo to Parke,

Can you, out of the kindness of your heart, and ability to spin (pro bono of course), advocate that the fine citizens of Los Angeles are deserving of a 89% return of their tax dollars, for the lack of work by your former client from the hills of "Northern Boyle Heights", one Antonio Ramon Villar??

One may wonder what brought you out to "spin and double speak" for a "Friend of Villar (or should we say "slay a foe of Villar" in Cedillo??), but then maybe this is an audition for a larger gig..............

Wonder if "Parque" has any comments.

Parke Skelton defended his client who was the victim of a pretty mild misleading mailer...whatever, next...how is a story, the fact that you got your hands on a press release does not make it news....

Let's see, Parke took every negative Chicano stereotype and turned it into a slick political brochure to get Tony elected - it doesn't matter if they were all lies - the ends justify the means for Parke.

I wonder if he will take all the negative Asian steroetypes to get Judy Chu elected. This will be a tough one Parke, how can you turn someone's drivng skills - or lack thereof - into a slick brochure?

Just wait you doubter. Parke can do the impossible. The only reason one would not like Parke Skelton is if they are on the other side...

Parke is the best!

I'm not a doubter about Parke - it takes a genius to get a dumbass like Antonio elected. I only question his scorched earth policy against his opponents. Often with a mightier than thou attitude even if his opponents are more progressive than his candidate. This is especially true with his Latino candidates. And his fundraising prowess have made it virtually impossible for any real grass root opposition - kind of ironic isn't Parke? But history is the great equalizer to those left by the side of the road. History that will dictate that the quality of life in those communites represented by all "his minority candidates" didn't really improve under Parke.

From the Capitol Weekly, 4/23/09, list of 100 top power brokers in California

Parke Skelton, SG&A Campaigns

Unlike other campaign consultants, Parke Skelton does not revel in the Sacramento power game. The Los Angeles-based Skelton is still an ideologue in a cynic’s business, taking on mostly progressive candidates and pushing back against business-friendly Democrats. His firm advises Speaker Karen Bass and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villariagosa, but for years, Skelton has relatively quietly gone about his business of taking on “good Democrats” as clients and winning political races.

How did Parke get that private street anyway? According to public records it was apublic street until Antonio Villaraigosa became councilman.

And this is the guy who is criticizing Gil Cedillo for his $150,000 spending spree? I'm no fan of Cedillo, but fair is fair - where is the LA Times on Parke Skelton's land grab? Richard Alatorre got bounced for getting a free roof, heck, Parke got a whole street.

Cedillo was the one attempting - and failing - to spin the LA Times, not Parke Skelton.

Cedillo's campaign mailers were factually inaccurate: using headlines out of context, misrepresenting her votes.

The truth is, Cedillo *was* misrepresenting Judy Chu's record. Parke was speaking the truth. Cedillo was the one spinning.

Hm, Parke vs Ace?

Both excellent at what they do. I would pick Ace for statewide and Parke for local, but if I had a ton of money (and a desire to run for an office which I personally don't), I would hire them both if I could.

Parke speak the truth, now theres an oxymoron.

Antonio raised by single mom - LIE
Antonio 80 neighborhood watches - LIE
Antonio high school drop out - LIE

And that's just one candidate.

Parke operates under the P.T. Barnum & method of campaigning, "there's a sucker registering to vote every minute."
