Kevin Roderick Puffs Away

Just when I thought that maybe I could come around to finding some value to Kevin Roderick's reporting he comes up with something stupid.

Antonio Watch's hot sheet tipped to an excellent Patrick McDonald LA Weekly piece about local government shadiness around public access TV in Los Angeles featuring profanity laced tirades from Fellow Mirthala Banger and Father of the Year Fabian Nunez.

McDonald did an extensive interview with Zuma Dogg who prior to becoming the public advocate for the community he was a veteran local public access show producer and host.

So Roderick presents the grandest display yet of his Westside suburban crank driven myopia and manifestation of the ever present need of an aging, forgotten Anglo newspaper "reporter" to preserve the Sherry Bebitch Jeffe "I don't know any other bloggers from Adam" status quo, the amazing talent that allows Roderick to continually win Pulitzer Prizes in the ballrooms of his mind, he pens the following in today's LAObserved:

LA Weekly runs a puff piece on City Hall gadfly and candidate Zuma Dogg, the paper's past freelancer. LA Weekly

I'm almost wondering if our favorite Westside White Guy actually (AngloLA)Observed Patrick's piece?

Sure, WWG continues to get the brute force share of west of the 405 bluehairs who are curious about the latest Zocalo series on the Peruvian midget Diaspora and the newest place to have some foie gras, as well as the willingness of well funded but mostly irrelevant local public radio stations to put their imprint on him,  but for sure given the actual news reported on blogs throughout this city, LA Observed hardly leads on anything that actually matters.

It's odd for Kevin to call Zuma a gadfly. I see Zuma attack politicians; but I mostly see Kevin only attack other writers.

I've seen Kevin snip at Tony Castro, Kate Coe, and that guy at ERS news, all who have written aggressively against some element of local city politics. I really don't remember Kevin writing as aggressively about local politicians as he does about other writers. For him to call anyone a gadfly, he should save more of his opinions for pols than to writers.

It doesn't look to me like Kevin experiences much remorse at snipping at other writers; he's a repeat offender here with a long track record.

Didn't someone give him an award recently? Whoever did can't follow the blogosphere very well, unless they gave him an award for aggregating the hard work of others and passing it off as his own.

Hey sorry to burst your bubble but that COVER STORY in LA WEEKLY is an investigative in depth expose on the SCAM on residents/citizens of Los Angeles and reeks of complete censorship by government on the common man. It certainly is no PUFF PIECE but sheer brillance.

Correct. Ed Head's Society of Professional Journalists gave Kevin some kind of award for new media. You can self nominate.

Kevin wouldn't know the difference.

Kevin really has to get over all of this and just move on already. He's really looking small.

Speaking of Zocalo, I signed up for their emails last year after reading they'd be having James Ellroy do a talk. Since then it's been one dull we-are-the-world event after another.

Kevin who?

Patrick McDonald wrote a great hard hitting investigative piece. I can understand the guy not recognizing what that is, since the form has been abandoned most of the traditional media here lately.

I think he suffers from quality envy. McDonald nailed the city council for taking a crippled public access system that still had a channel people could put content on if they could manage to put something together and closed it to free speech. Now they have a strangle hold on what goes on and they can practice censorship - a favorite item of many city hall-ers -especially Villaraigosa.

Are we living in the old soviet union with Antonio our own Breshnev he is behind a back door take over of LAUSD through his puppet Cortines. Now her seizes what free speech media outlets there are.

We are losing our free press down the drain of corporate control and greed. The Weekly is rapidly becoming the only sizable printed material doing any real digging on local issues.

Has Kevin ever written for the Weekly? Maybe they turned him down.

Kevin Roderick suffers from penis envy. Ron Kaye's been blogging like what, three weeks? His blog not only is a go to for what's REALLY going on in LA while Kevin tells us what celebrities had for lunch. Did he really win a Pulitzer Prize? Mack Reed worked with Kevin Roderick and doesn't think so.

Kevin must be envious of Ron as Ron's blog has taken off and created a political movement. No one comes out for Kevin Roderick meetings. Unless there's free food.

For the record, the newsroom accounts of the two staff Pulitzers for reporting by the local Times clowns in 1992 and 1994 clearly state that the newsroom chanted the name "Leo"--as in Leo Wolinsky--when those staff Pulitzers were announced.

But I have no idea why people are paying attention to what Kevin scribbles anymore. 8:14 is right---he has no guts for anything but sucking up to pols, even while he dishes on any other writers who happen to try to tell the truth in town. He's a pathetic case.
