Hernandez Qualifies, Austin Flubs, Huesca Fails, Alarcon Breathes
Sigh of relief for Councilman Ricard Alarcon. Popular Spanish media personality Guillermo Huesca who had announced his campaign to challenge the Seventh District Councilman has failed to garner enough signatures to qualify for the ballot.
Huesca's fail follows that of intended School Board candidate Ben Austin who similarly didn't qualify for the ballot. What's up with these guys?
In related news, longtime civic activist David Hernandez qualifed to place his name on the 2009 Mayoral ballot. Speaking of Ben Austin, Zuma Dogg's blog picks up on a David Zahniser LA Times piece that reports, remarkably, Austin's campaign solicited petition signatures IN THE WRONG DISTRICT!

Why do these stupid men like Alarcon and Antonio dye their hair? Do they really think people are stupid to believe they have no white hair? Women find it more manly to be a MAN and let life takes its course. Someone please tell Antonio his teeth look more like glow in the dark lights back in the 70's. It looks like they forgot to take remove the whitening tray.

Rick Orlov is crazy posting this bullshit. OF course Loyola Marymount is going to put out a survey in favor of the gang banger mayor. Villaraigosa's friends at that college did the same shit during the mayoral campaign. Now look what we got stuck with, and idiot, uneducated, lowlife gang banger Mayor. Now the survey is saying ANtonio has a 83% high job rating. NO F--KING WAY, not in Los Angeles. Did the survey people say Antonio does his job only 11%??

6:40 am, If more guys like you made it known that they thought it "more manly" to stop using dye they might leave the hair coloring in favor of receiving your admiration.
But for me, Alarcon and Antonio would need a character make-over to be acceptable.

"What's up with these guys" is that Huesca was promised by DAVID HERNANDEZ that he would run Huesca's campaign and get enough signatures for him, that's what's up.
Thanks David. You left us with you as qualified in a race you cannot hope to win, and left Alarcon uncontested in CD 7.
Total effing asshole.

Huesca and Austin both counted on someone else to make things happen for them without personally getting involved to take ownership of their campaign. Sure that is exactly the kind of leadership we need!
If Zuma Dogg can get signatures on his own I don't cry any for these clowns who don't even have the ability to manage 500 lousy signatures.

Huesca should have never trusted Hernandez. David doesn't have that great experience actually accomplishing anything.

If you can't find enough help to get the signatures you need, you certainly can't put together enough people to form a campaign and get elected. It's nature's way of sorting out the wannabes.

Los Angeles City Council
The Council is “Awaiting a Quorum” for Councilmembers Janice Hahn, Ed Reyes, and Greig Smith.
During confirmation of Mr. Javier C. Angulo to the East Los Angeles Area Planning Commission, Councilmember Bill Rosendahl commented regarding a Day without a Gay, Item 1. This comment appeared to be a NON-Agenda item, but the deputy city attorney failed to correct Rosendahl.
City Council neglected to fund an attorney to represent Controller Chick, Item 42. However, Council did not hesitate to proceed with Proposition R, TERM EXTENSION, which cost Angelenos millions? This proposition only benefited Council and not Angelenos as a whole.

Anyone with even an amateurish understanding of politics and campaigning would have known better than to hire/count on (was he paid?) David Hernandez to qualify them for the ballot. David is a well intentioned gadfly at best, and a self promoting hack at worst.
Huesca doesn’t deserve to be on the ballot if he can’t walk and pick up the couple hundred signatures needed to qualify for the ballot. It’s a weekends worth of work if you do it right.
He’ll learn the hard way to not count on amateurs. If he really is a savior he can take out some other Mafioso like Felipe.

I agree any candidate not able to get the signatures isn't worthy. But let's see you go into CD 7 and gather 500, not just a couple hundred, vaild signatures in a weekend.
