Who Invented The Computer?

One of the hottest search terms on Google right now is "Who Invented the Computer?"  The reason for that is due to Barack Obama's "Biden-esque" gaffe that "the Federal government invented the computer."  Currently the term is in the top 20 hot searches on Google and is rated as "on fire."

Of course, Obama was wrong, the US government did not invent the computer.  But if you're not sure who did, here's a brief history of the development of the computer.

By the way some folks who defend Obama might say that the Democrat meant the Internet and not the computer.  Well despite the fact that Al Gore claims to have invented the Internet, it's not even entirely accurate to say that the government or the military invented the Internet, though they funded much of the original research, it was academia, most notably Vint Cerf.

Highy you need to listen more carefully. What Obama said was that government helps fund the invention of the electronics i.e. computer chips which were needed for military use. There have been many inventions in which the government has helped with development money.

Many electronic/computer chips were first developed for military use then applided to commercial application such as the GPS global postioning systems) in your car.

Highy since when are you an electronics engineer and do you really understand how simple logic gates developed for the military are the foundations for today's modern digital computers?

Look up Digital Signal Processing (DSP) which was antother type of computer chip developed for the military and now used in many commercial applications.

Your ignorance has no bounds Higby.
