UPDATE "Uh, um, ah" How many times did the Mayor say it?
The answer is 16. El Alcalde said "uh, um" or "ah" 16 times in his 1 minute and 4 second Mirthala Confession. We will do this again soon. Got that, Third Floor swizzlesticks?
Thank you for Shopping at Mayor Sam's Sister City, the Home of Los Angeles Politics.

Do you remember the Tootsie-Roll Lollipop owl counting how many licks it takes before you reach the lollipop's Tootsie-Roll center? "One, twooo, threeee!"
Let's try the same with the Mayor's stammer.
How many times in his 1 minute 4 second "Mirthala Confession" does he say the words "uh" "um" or "ah"?
Office pool anyone? No cheating! (Except for Mayor Antonio!) That would be, as the Mayor said, "outrageous!"

Communist party membership no longer a fireable offence in California
guardian.co.uk, Friday May 16 2008
The California Senate yesterday passed legislation that would delete membership in the Communist party as a reason for firing a public employee, a Cold War-era prohibition intended to root out communists.
Democratic Senator Alan Lowenthal called communism a "failed system," and said his bill - Senate Bill 1322 - was intended to protect "the constitutional freedoms that we have fought so valiantly for," including freedom of political affiliation.

Will the coincidences ever stop?
It was actually Mirthala herself who was Antonio's Tootsie-Pop, and I think it was she who said the "uh". "um" and "ah's" that were involved in their encounters, which I suspect were eventually shortened to about a minute and four seconds.
In LA on this surmise.

The current agenda is mocking the Mayor. If you aren't able to enjoy this, you are going to be shown the door.

One year later you remain a bunch of crass, jealous losers. Especially Wet Spot, who'd vote for Obama to score a date with Mirthala.

Why is Haikula so obsessed with Mirthala???

Hello 1:21pm,
I could have picked any of a hundred clips to start this new game.
Dare me to?
You see to be very defensive. If you'd like, I will do this every week.
The Mirthala fiasco is the penultimate thing people think of when they hear Villaraigosa's name. Her name will be forever linked to his. If he dares to run for Governor, you will hear it again and again.
Maybe you should take notice of how many new visitors have come to the site since this was posted, and see how many of those numbers went to YouTube to play along.
Hundreds.
Mirthala defines Antonio. Dumbass.

Ms. Haikula
I think that word penultimate doesnt mean what you think it means.
It means next to last, not first like you tried to imply.
You seem to love to push this idea that your posts somehow generate all these new readers and that you are responsible for bumping up readership.
It may be true, us readers wont know until you take a snapshot of your hit tracking page (whether its Google analytics or something else) and show us.
Either way, it doesn't matter. You are harping about something that is over 1 year old. Most people who would care about something like this, already know about it, so in other words you are preaching to the choir. And that's fine, but please stop with the charades about new readers, its really shrill.
And as far as Mirthala "defining" Antonio. That's debatable, but you can push your opinion all you want, thats why you have a blog.

Hello 3:06pm,
For someone who doesn't care about what I write about, you sure do seem to care a lot. But I do appreciate your thoughtful comments.
Referencing penultimate, it was used to show Villaraigosa's LOWEST moments. His GRANDEST screw ups, if you will.
If Mirthala doesn't define Villaraigosa, it will be the TRAFFIC and his HALF BILLION DOLLAR budget shortfall THIS year, and the hundreds of millionsin shortfall projected for next year.
Mirthala, traffic congestion, or major budget shortfalls.
You're right. All of these will be what people think of when they hear Villaraigosa's name.
I stand corrected.

Ms. Haikula,
You tried to use a big word and you got it wrong. The definition of the word is important when you try to use it, so next time be more careful. Maybe trying to impress everyone isnt as important as you think.
I appreciate the fact that you brought up some actual issues about the Mayor and not his personal life as your clear disdain for him (do you need a definition for disdain?).
People dont remember Mayor's for budget deficits, especially when the entire nation is going through an economic downturn and the real estate market is sinking. People are smart enough to know that Mayor's dont have control over those issues.
No Mayor in LA history is remembered for traffic. Traffic is a regional problem and has taken decades to get this bad and will never be fixed in 4 or 8 years.
I dont know what the Mayor will be remembered for just yet, his first term isnt even up yet and it looks more and more likely that he will get another one. Will he be remembered for Mirthala, absolutely, just like Clinton will be remembered for Monica. Its too early to tell what else he'll be remembered for.

And just why are we supposed to give a crap about this?

(Big sigh!) Miss Haikula, why not "go for broke," and campaign for a City Council seat. You make more sense than all 15 of the current crop combined! At least you have a wonderful way of not being afraid of introducing new features on this blog, which I view as quite refreshing - the same of which you could bring to Council.
Please consider campaigning - your city needs more like you.

Antonio will be remembered for lots of things besides Mirthala.
Absenteeism, Photo-Ops compulsion, avoiding direct confrontation on issues and constant travel with security detail in tow.
Speeding up the imposition of the step-ups for trash fee collection to maximum for September instead of 2010, and still needing more money for purported purpose of achieving 1,000 police officers.
Leading speaker with his "We clean your toilets" proclamation a few May days back, demonstrating his unequivocal choice to prefer advocating demands of illegal aliens over the U.S. citizens and legal resident aliens in the city.
Helping to direct public funds (taxes collected) to special interests and favored people and organizations by way of sweetheart deals, and funding programs of dubious merit.
Continuing to stifle attack on crime by refusing to change Special Order 40 to deport illgal alien gang members.
The achievements as a notorious mayor, disgracing his office and leading the rest of his counter-culture allies on the city council will be things of lasting impact.
Spinners still will bow to him, but the layoffs of temporary workers and reduction of hours for other workers will be a testament to real-world impact of the fiscal irresponsibility of Tony and the Council. And in the face of it all, there will still be Tony-admirerers among those affected city employees.
There's lots more, but performance is a direct result of his half-assed effort to really take the job seriously instead of simply as a tool for achieving higher office and personal power and fame.
His positive results largely are illusory.
There's much more but we can all take turns at recollecting them.
He is a perfect and complete fool. Too bad he's caused so much harm for so many people while doing all this.
