Obama & Wife Praised, Supported Ayers' book. Did he lie to U.S. about their relationship?
See the note in blue in the text of the following article from Fox News.com how Michelle Obama also featured terrorist Ayers.
From Fox News.com:
Barack Obama provided a glowing endorsement of a book by domestic terrorist William Ayers in the Dec. 21, 1997 Chicago Tribune.
Barack Obama, who has consistently downplayed his relationship with William Ayers during his presidential campaign, once gave a glowing endorsement of a book by the former domestic terrorist and was mentioned by name in the book itself.
A blogger unearthed the Dec. 21, 1997, endorsement in the Chicago Tribune and posted photographs of the praise for Ayers' book on Zombietime.com Saturday.
Featured next to a smiling photograph of himself, then-State Senator Obama called Ayers' book, "A Kind and Just Parent: Children of the Juvenile Court," a "searing and timely account of the juvenile court system, and the courageous individuals who rescue hope from despair."
The book, which details life at the Chicago Juvenile Court prison school, mentions Obama by name on page 82 when it describes Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood:
"Our neighbors include Muhammad Ali, former mayor Eugene Sawyer, poets Gwendolyn Brooks and Elizabeth Alexander, and writer Barack Obama. Minister Louis Farrakhan lives a block from our home and adds, we think, a unique dimension to the idea of 'safe neighborhood watch': the Fruit of Islam, his security force, has an eye on things twenty-four-hours a day."
The Obama campaign said the blurb was not a full-fledged review of the book.
"He didn't do a review. He provided one line about the book to the Tribune," campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt told FOXNews.com.
A month before the item appeared, on Nov. 20, 1997, Michelle Obama, then dean of student services and director of the University Community Service Center, held a panel at the University of Chicago that featured both Barack Obama and Ayers.
"Ayers will be joined by Sen. Barack Obama, Senior Lecturer in the Law School, who is working to combat legislation that would put more juvenile offenders into the adult system," the University of Chicago Chronicle reported on Nov. 6, 1997.
Obama has been criticized for refusing to elaborate on the extent of his relationship with Ayers and for claiming to have had no idea Ayers was a co-founder of the Wesather Underground, which claimed responsibility for bombing the Pentagon, U.S. Capitol and a New York Supreme Court justice's home in the Sixties.
The Obama campaign has noted that Obama was 8 years old when Ayers and the Weather Underground were active and has no link to their activities. Ayers has said he has "no regrets" about his participation in the domestic terror group.
"A Kind and Just Parent" was in stock at Amazon.com and ranked 51,273 in sales on Monday.

So what you are saying is because YOU don't like the answer Senator Obama gave, he must be lying?
An aspirational Senator Obama wrote a 1 line regarding the book's contents, the subject of juvenile justice something that Senator Obama had been working on in the State Senate.
I know it is hard for the Obama haters to handle but Bill Ayres was and is a prominent figure embroiled in Chicago politics. He is involved in many major issues that Obama and other politicians care about, mainly education of our children as opposed to incarceration. See, just because the messenger is imperfect (to say the least) the message (in the case of this book) was one Senator Obama agreed with.
By the way, read the book, you might actually learn something.
As for where I earn my paycheck, I am not employed by the Obama for America campaign committee although for the life of me I can't understand why that would matter.

What was Ayers ever convicted of?
Oh, that's right... NOTHING.

Amazon.com Review
"William Ayers brings a reporter's eye and an activist's heart to this well-written and profoundly disturbing book, A Kind and Just Parent: The Children of Juvenile Court. Ayers, who teaches offenders in Chicago's juvenile court system, is a brilliant storyteller, the damning fly on the wall. His book portrays the lives of his students--both within the juvenile temporary detention center and on the "outside." Ayers puts their stories into historical context; argues passionately about the roles of media, poverty, and neglect; refutes the idea of teenager as "superpredator"; and challenges parents--all of us--to ask the question, "Is this good enough for my child?" when determining the standard to use when we think of justice for kids. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title."
Haikula and Higby again reaching for straws. hahahahaha The book is about the juvenile justice system NOT terrorists.
I read "Mein Kampf" by Hitler and I recommend the book, am I a Nazi? Did I hang out with Hitler or endorse his views?
I read the "Godfather" by Mario Puzo and also gave it glowing reviews, does that make mean I endorse the mafia?
Haakula please keeps showing us your stupidity.
Jim Alger just tell Haikula to STFU she doesn't deserve an answer.
Michael Higby said:
I agree with Colin Powell that Obama associating with someone with a history of civil disobedience and terrorist activity does not make Obama himself a terrorist, I do part company with the Good General on the issue of the Ayers-Obama partnership speaking to his judgment and character. As well, his attempts to spin and mislead the public on the Ayers relationship is concerning.
There is no way that Jim Alger nor any other spinner could spin away that IF John McCain were buddies with an abortion clinic bomber under all of the same circumstances as Ayers-Obama that the left would have the same reaction.
That being said the issue of Obama's flawed character isn't hitting home with folks who are more concerned about the next mortgage or who have stars in their eyes over the Democratic nominee.
That's why the McCain campaign is right to focus on the economy and how Obama's tax plan will severly hurt the creation of small business jobs and opportunity. That's a slam dunk right there, again, no matter how much Jim $pins it.

Hi 3:32pm,
Ayers was not tried because the prosecution botched the evidence.
However, you are a FOO' because you fail to mention, or probably don't know, that Ayers A-D-M-I-T-T-E-D to planting bombs.
Ayers also says that he "WISHES HE DID MORE!"
As for Mr. Alger, no. I LOVE what Senator Biden said! Just two weeks before the election, and Biden single-handedly opens up a conversation about foreign affairs, and how dangerous a Barack Obama presidency would be.
I also see that you're failing to address whether you are being paid something by the Obama campaign.

1. It doesn't matter if the Obama campaign is paying Alger to blog or not. Rightwingers in this country, and dictatorships in other countries, love to attack and demean the person who expresses an opinion they don't like rather than address the opinion.
2. The Ayers thing didn't affect voters. It's a waste of time, except for bloggers who enjoy sensationalizing. Fortunately, they'll probably be so busy blogging that they'll forget to vote.
3. Obama's Colin Powell trumps McCain's Ayers.
4. Explain to me why Ayers is more un-American than Todd Palin who for 5 years was registered with the Alaskan Independence Party who founder damned the United States at every opportunity and has as its goal to have Alaska leave the GD United States.
5. Explain to me wny the Republicans desire to be the party that is trying to divide the country by these personal attacks and creating fear in people? Is it because creating that fear is the only tool left to McCain, and winning the election comes before country?

Keep trying Haikula and you Republicans. All your bullshit, racist hate is backfiring big time. Even Palin came out on the news and said in her own words, she wished the campaign would talk about issues and not the Robo calls and negativity. GET THAT??? Why didn't you post the crap about the GOP organization that got arrested for FRAUD VOTER REGISTRATION and was in all papers this weekend little girl. Keep posting crap because the more you bitch, whine and complain instead of hitting the issues the more Obama is getting people on board like many of my friends who are Republican in the valley. They all say horrible job of McCain team.

Nice dodge there Jim. There are like 5 different campaign committees and dozens of independent committees. I don't care which one you work for. I appreciate your input. You are adding intelligence to this debate that is quite a-typical for this blog.
That said I will say what you obviously can't. Obama didn't know and when he found out he of course tried to downplay any connection to Ayers because he knew that it could hurt him politically.
Much like McCain is out there today practically saying "Bush who? Never heard of him!"

CAN WE SAY GORDON LIBBY? LETTERMAN NAILED MCCAIN ON THAT ONE AND HE DIDNT' KNOW HOW TO ANSWER.
....lA Times....REPUBLICANS FRAUDULENTLY SWITCHING PARTY REGISTRATIONS; FORGED DOCUMENTS; PERJURY CHARGES FILED; ONE ARREST MADE SO FAR
"Election officials and lawmakers have {recently} launched investigations into the activities of {Young Political Majors} YPM workers in Florida and Massachusetts. In Arizona, the firm was recently a defendant in a civil rights lawsuit. Prosecutors in Los Angeles and Ventura counties {in California} say they are investigating complaints about the company." http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-fraud18-2008oct...
A second LA Times article is perfectly clear both about Mark Jacoby's personal false registration to vote "at a childhood California address where he no longer lives" so that he could gather signatures in California, and also about the grocery store signature-gathering fraud, and states "dozens of voters said they were duped into registering as Republicans by his firm, Young Political Majors, or YPM." http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-fraud20-2008oct...

Bloomberg is now reporting that the McCain campaign, using a letter with McCain's signature on it, solicited a $5,000 campaign contribution from Vitaly Churkin, the Russian ambassador to the United Nations.
I know that receiving contributions from foreign nationals is illegal, but I'm not sure what the law is about soliciting them.
My best guess is that McCain didn't know who the letter went to, but it does raise questions about who's minding the store and who's in charge of quality control.
If even soliciting such a contribution is illegal, as it is for LA city councilmembers to solicit from commissioners and employees, then you would think that someone would be looking for such things.

Why isn't Haikula the "Independent" concerned with McCain assocaition with Gordon Liddy a convicted felon?
***********************
Thursday night on CBS's Late Show with David Letterman, the longtime latenight talk show host kneecapped GOP Presidential Candidate John McCain over his relationship to Watergate planner G. Gordon Liddy.
"You will also admit that we cannot really control who we interact with in our lives, a hundred percent," said Letterman, referencing McCain's ubiquitous attack against Barack Obama that ties him to a 60's political radical. "I mean, you have ... You have ..."
McCain interrupted. "Depends on how long we interact with them and how we interact with them."
Letterman tried to cut in several times, but he was cut off by the candidate.
"The point is ... The point, the point of this whole campaign, the economy, the economy ..." trailed McCain, counting with his left hand, but ceeding to Letterman on his third 'economy.'
"Did you not have a relationship with Gordon Liddy?" asked the host.
"Um, I've met him, uh, you know, I mean, um ..." began McCain.
"Didn't you attend a fundraiser at his house?" asked Letterman.
"That's," sputtered McCain, looking trapped. "That's, what ... Is ..."

It's amazing that the censors at Fox News allowed this story to air.
Radley Balko, senoir editor at the libertarian oriented Reason Magazine, and who always votes Republican, now says that the Republican Party "must be defeated this year."
He says that the party has abandoned the Goldwater-Reagan philosophy of limited government and built a monstrous new federal bureaucracy. Federal spending has soared.
He isn't thrilled with Obama, but says that the GOP needs to get their clocks cleaned for 2 reasons:
1. The GOP had their shot at power and they failed.
2. Under Bush the only consistent principle has been to raise the level of the president to an elected dictator.
A loss would force the party to regroup.

Why is it that Obama cannot 'remember' where he lived for two whole years in Chicago???
What is he hiding???? Drugs????
There is so much shit on Obama that even if 10% of it were true, he is unfit to serve! He couldn't even get a security clearance to be a night watchman at a bank!!!
He has been actively involved with the most radical leftist group, ACORN, for YEARS...over a decade!!!
He has a shady past...PERIOD. End of discussion! If he wins he will be the first ACORN president!
143 days in the Senate does not qualify him to be president! Living a shady life as a community organizer in the Chicago mob machine should disqualify him for any public office!
He is NOT for educating children...he is for INDOCTRINATING children...starting in pre-school! They are already `calling him the "Dear Leader"!
What is wrong with you sheeple??? You deserve what you are going to get!!! I can't wait to watch the meltdown...it's already started.

For those of you who say "it was just education" that Obama worked on with Ayers, here's a taste of what Ayers & Co. mean by education: Ayers in Venezuela
All of Obama's assocations--spiritual, academic, political--have been of the left. Sure, he might govern from the center, but the best predictor of future behavior is always past behavior. I don't "HATE" Obama, I think we need a strong defense and free enterprise, which we have a chance of getting with McCain.
Nobama, no way!

C. Contributions from Foreign Nationals are Prohibited
Federal law prohibits contributions from foreign nationals. A "foreign national" is any person who is not a citizen of the United States and does not have legal permanent residency status, or any foreign government, corporation or organization. Additionally, domestic subsidiaries of foreign corporations and U.S. corporations owned by foreign nationals may also be prohibited from making contributions under certain circumstances. 2 USC § 441 e; 11 CFR §§110.4(a) and 110.9(a). An immigrant is eligible to make a contribution if he or she has a "green card" indicating that he or she has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States. If you need more information, contact the Federal Election Commission (“FEC”) or see Appendix 6 for the FEC’s brochure concerning contributions by
foreign nationals.

You didn't answer the question:
Where did Obama live for 2 years in Chicago? He claims he 'can't remember' where he lived for an entire 2 year period!!!
You won't answer the question because you don't know and Obama won't divulge the answer!
He's was a druggie, and that's he made a deliberate, calculated decision to disclose his drug habit BEFORE the campaign started!
He didn't want the press to find out BEFORE he disclosed his druggie days!
WHERE DID HE LIVE FOR THAT TWO YEAR PERIOD IN CHICAGO?????
C'mon...

If you have an allegation, then log on under your own name and offer proof. After all, if you have new information that could or should disqualify Obama from becoming the next President of the United States, as a patriotic American who loves this country I would expect you would put this verifiable, well-sourced information forward.
Of course we all know you won't, because you can't. It doesn't matter if it is Obama, Weiss, Villar, myself or even ZD when it comes to throwing mud, you just don't have the stones to put your name behind it, where your own motives and agendas could be examined and exposed.
