Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Monday
We started the weekend with two candidates for Mayor and could wind up with five real soon. As noted here, joining current declared candidates Antonio Villaraigosa and Walter Moore, Friday evening longtime community activist David Hernandez announced his candidacy. Sunday Zuma Dogg declared his candidacy and proceeded to lay out his platform on his blog. And finally, longtime developer and civic leader Rick Caruso sure made it sound like he was going to run at Friday night's Lincoln Club dinner where he was presented with the 2008 Spirit of Lincoln Award by local Republicans.
Speaking of the Mayoral election, former President Bill Clinton hosted a fundraiser for Mayor Villaraigosa Saturday at the home of record producer Clarence Avanat. According to the Daily News' Rick Orlov, Clinton threw his endorsement behind Villaraigosa saying "Whether it's rescuing the city's lowest performing schools, putting 1,000 cops on the street, taking on the gang problem or transforming LA with a path-breaking environmental agenda, Antonio has laid a foundation for fundamental change in the City of Angels." Is the President talking about OUR Antonio? Just wanted to check.
Speaking of some of the collateral damage of the Clinton Administration, the New York Times via Street Hassle identifies Clinton Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros as a chief player in causing the housing bubble. Cisneros was one of the chief proponents of the failed policy of encouraging those who could not afford mortgages to get them, as promoted by everyone from Clinton to Maxine Waters to George Bush to Barack Obama and Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac. Cisneros, a poverty pimp who has parlayed his government service into corporate millions, should be ashamed of himself.
Yet another reason to vote no on the Mayor's transit tax scam, Measure R: the MTA could be facing potential bankruptcy. In the last twenty years or so, the MTA made a number of deals with investment groups to buy its buses, rail cars and other infrastructure in exchange for cash and then the MTA would lease the equipment back. The problem is that the MTA contracted with in-trouble financial services firm AIG to guarantee the leases. With AIG out of funds and near collapse, MTA is on the hook to pay billions in leases to the investors. MTA doesn't have the cash to cover this so cuts in service are certain.
And finally we welcome a new contributor to Mayor Sam's Sister City, Donna Barstow. Donna, who writes the Griffith Park, Interrupted Blog has been a cartoonist for the New Yorker, LA Times, Glamour, Barron's, WSJ, and several other publications. lots more. Barstow is the cartoonist for Parade Magazine and is the author of the books What Do Women REALLY Want? Chocolate!, and Love Me or Go to Hell. Donna describes herself as "Picky eater, great friend, curious observer, elitist artist, midnight writer, voracious reader, omnivorous chocoholic, impatient driver, and so-so lover." Donna will be writing about a number of issues and topics ranging from Griffith Park to Dancing With The Stars. Welcome Donna!

Clinton could do this city a favor and give the gang banger cholo Mayor a job anywhere but LA. Clinton has no clue the damage Antonio has done to this city so who the hell does he think he is making that statement? Clinton his dyke wife Hilary are so jealous of Obama they didn't even campaign as hard as they could have for him. They showed their racist side early on. Word is major corruption crap will come out this time on Antonio. He's due for his bad Karma

I wonder if civic activist Zuma Dogg or civic leader Rick Caruso will raise more money?
Bill Clinton should have talked to Jose SixPack and Jose the Plumero of Los Angeles and hear what they have to say about Mayor VillaBaboso before Clinton endorsed him.
VillaBaboso can reach across both sides of the isle and unite both republicans and democrats to toss his sorry ass out of office.

Don Quixote,
Did you read your friend Joe Mailander's comment about Henry Cisneros being a chief player in causing the economic housing crisis?
Henry Cisneros another mexican sympathizer trying to help every poor mexican with bad credit a home loan.
I wonder if Clinton knows the cause of Los Angeles' low performing schools? You guessed it, too many illegal aliens from Mexico flooding the LAUSD. If Los Angeles wasn't a santuary city the schools would improve and the city would save billions of dollars on social services and jails for poor mexican citizens.
Now the state and city are running out of money the Robin Hoods of L.A. will no longer be able to give to their poor mexicans.

I used to admire Clinton, but this clearly shows that he will just stick to the script and give a political payback to a complete moron mayor who has sunk the city into a major financial hole deeper than the Subway to the Sea that we'll never get, and don't need.

I can't wait for zooma dog to say that he predicted all of this, and everything else from the Chicago Fire to the Super Bowl.
All that boy does is get information from others and repackage it as his own thinking.
Other things that Zooma has predicted include:
Flat screen tv being the wave of the future.
The mortgage crisis.
No one showing up for the mayor sam birthday party.
What is going to happen next zooma dog?

How come the cameras and press was BANNED at this event???? Could it be that Clinton was forced to endorse Villar was so embarrassed he banned cameras???
Villar must be majorly pissed because there were no photo ops and cameras!!!!
Obama HATES Mexicans...there will be NONE in his Cabinet!
The sub-prime originated in LA! LA brought down the country! Villar brought down the country!
I am praying that Rick Caruso will run...and Walter Moore will drop out! We cannot afford to split the vote!!!!
PLEASE, RICK...THROW IN YOUR HAT!!!!!!!

Jackass Weiss is a jerkoff who is going to make a break from Villar as soon as Caruso throws his hat in the ring.
What's wrong with Jack Weiss is that he didn't do this sooner.
Jack Weiss is an ass-eater! Not such a kiss-ass, but someone who gets into the cheeks and munches Antonio's brown berry.

Neighborhood Council Outreach Really Counts When It Comes to the City’s Budget
Budget choices for fiscal year 2009-2010 are going to make a huge difference for the future of our City, and Neighborhood Councils are best positioned to help stakeholders express their budget priorities for what will be a tough year for the City’s finances.
You can pick up on the momentum from the successful Citywide Congress of Neighborhoods and Mayor’s Community Budget Day by letting your stakeholders know about this year’s Budget Survey and helping to make sure that each of them fills out a survey to indicate their budget priorities.
Please hold local and regional budget information meetings, take budget surveys to your events, and ensure that all of your board members and at least 500 stakeholders from each of the City’s Planning Areas fill out the surveys. Each year we hope to make certain that more people’s voices are heard on budget priorities and that each of the City’s neighborhoods is represented in the budget process.
The Budget Survey is available online at www.lacityneighborhoods.com. For more information, call your Project Coordinator at (213) 485-1360."
