Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Friday

If you were wondering where Mayor Villaraigosa was Thursday evening, do not fret, we've tracked him down.  He was all the way in San Antonio, Texas, spending some of that 89% of his time that he doesn't attend to City business attending a fundraiser in honor of, well, Mayor Villaraigosa hosted by Democratic stalwart Henry Cisneros.

Just two weeks left to sign the petitions for Jamiel's Law.  The Shaws and their supporters are doing a great job getting to lots of events and getting a ton of signatures but any petition drive needs to get at least twice as many signatures as required to ensure success.  Read this article here to see where you can sign if you haven't yet.

If you missed it, we have video of Mayor Villaraigosa's Deputy Mayor Jim Bickhart sleeping on the job at a recent meeting.  No matter how you spin, its reminiscent of Councilmember Greig Smith who uses Council meetings for nap time.

Thefts of copper wire from City street lighting polls have reached epideminc proportions.  The light poles are destroyed when the wire is stolen resulting in significant costs to the city.  DWP and LAPD representatives held a news conference Thursday asking the public to keep their eyes open and report any suspicious activity.

Anti-billboard hysteria over at the LA Weekly has reached bizarre levels.  The Weekly's Jill Stewart declares that City leaders to create Times Square-esque zones in downtown LA is the result of "male penis envy."

Looking for a cute two bedroom home just a two minute drive from home games at Dodger Stadium? CurbedLA has a cozy cottage that can be yours for just about a quarter mil.

Go Jill. Higby and Sam Hall Kaplan are tasteless jerks who naturally can't get the point. And that idiot Walter Moore has weighed in on Ron Kaye and Daily News calling them the poor, decent companies being taken advantage of by the city. Whenever he or Higby weight in (pun intended) on anything other than illegal gang problems it's equally predictable.

Animal shelter deputy mayor asleep in meetings before hundreds of people show up to complain?

You'd have to be blind to miss that correlation.

A gravy stained mayor's aide or whatever his title is has no excuse for this. If you fell asleep at your desk and the boss came by, while the place is on fire, you would lose your job.

Jimmy Blackman, this is as big a reflection on your as it is on anyone.

It seems like Mayor Tony just didn't miss a beat in continuing his reign as Mayor-in-Absentia and spending most of his work time NOT working IN or FOR the city.

The "It's All About Me" mayor acts more energized than shamed by the recent and revealing L.A. Weekly article. Most informed people suspected what the article established, but may have been stunned by the miniscule time, 11%, that was spent actually working on the city business.

Mayor Tony's arrogance and disinterest in improving his personal presence in the city AND working on city problems looks as if it has become more heightened than anything else. The Obama campaign seems to be thriving on the "Time for a Change" theme, but it's L.A. where that phrase could really find a home.

Tony takes the voters for chumps. They will vote for him because he’s a star. He's assuming that by pouring in dollars collected from non-L.A., non-California sources to fuel the propaganda machine he will convince the voters that he's the "Go To" man, despite his dismal performance as it affects the quality of life for residents and workers in this city. He really is the "Go To" guy, but it's not City Hall where he should “go to.”

The simple fact of what Tony does (his association with the shady and the "unclean hands" of those involved in political life) and where he goes to collect money (out-of-city and out-of-state) should be a signal for revolt to all but the most heavily embedded in the mayor's city hall web of dysfunction. That particular segment does have a serious interest in keeping their jobs and therein is the motivation for keeping Tony in office.

Tony's latest fund raising was to San Antonio, Texas, with Henry Cisneros as the host. Cisneros has own character flaws that helped to interrupt his political rise, and in that respect, the affinity between Cisneros and Villaraigosa is understandable. Tony finds a kindred spirit in associating with Cisneros. One enlightening article, a February 2008 story found online on MySanAntonio.com shows the path Cisneros took as a Countrywide Financial board member since 2001. Cisneros managed to fare well financially and exit that organization last October, as many executives in troubled firms have done while their firms travel a route leading more deeply into financial chaos.

Tony will continue to work on Tony's career above all else, as surely as night follows day, but we should not allow it to be at our expense as a re-elected mayor in 2009. The good of us all requires that change and, unlike the presidential election results for California, the local vote WILL matter.

Oh Michael, you've never heard Jill use that term before? EVERY problem in the city is male penis envy.

Out of all the wacko activists I have met over the past couple years, Jill takes the cake.

Things got so wacky with her this week as she is struggling to figure out the REAL problem with Prop B.
(I just simply put here email address on "block sender.")

Jill is shallow in her assesements, she misses the point usually, but has a great vocabulary so it all sounds good.

And since Jill isn't going to sign her name on her post, neither will I.

No, she's nuts.

Haikula doesn't look like a big part of her is Finnish. Do Fins have affirmative action? If you moved to Finland, would you get special perks like people of color do here, even though people of color are now the majority here? In Finland there are very few people of color so maybe you can move there and clean up with all their special government programs for non-Fins who have some Finnish blood and can claim connection. Can you get citizenship in Finland based on this partial parentage? Tell us more about this and maybe move to Finland, Haikula.

Haikula gets dumber and dumberer by trying to force an analogy between the US and Finland in terms of "what people look like." Clearly you've never even been to Finland and don't know history. Like many European countries and certainly Scandinavians, Fins have a unique ethnic heritage and are not a "melting pot" of colors and cultures.

There are now some Iraqis and other war refugees in Scandinavia, but they're hardly indistinguishable. In fact, their numbers in some countries are such that their welcome is being challenged. And the "dark foreigners" are maybe 2% at most. Can you prove otherwise?

Holland has had Turks and other darker skinned people or non- Christian backgrounds -- and we've seen the problems resulting there. Partly because by mutual desire, they've never really merged into the local society. In Holland or France outside of a few big cities it's striking how separate the cultures are. These countries and Britain have to in some cases grant citizenship to residents of their former colonies so in France you've got people from Guadeloupe to Algeria. They speak and are "French" but don't share the Continental French stock or sense of identity. Finland, unless I'm mistaken, never had African or Caribbean colonies.

Just because Bjork has dark hair doesn't mean she's dark-skinned. Only idiots think Fins are Scandinavians, which they're not. Even some Scandinavians are dark- haired, however.

You are an idiot, Haikula. Stop trying to talk about things you know nothing about. Stick to why Republicans have more body hair and are so sensitive about it and why they ain't so smart and lack book learnin' and can't name any magazines or newspapers even when they're running for Vice President and are expected to know things about the world. Like whether Fins are ever dark haired and that they're not Scandinavian and never had colonies like the Dutch.

Betcha Sara Palin can't tell the diff between Norwegians, Fins, the Dutch and the Belgians, neither. So like Bush with Iraq, makes idiotic analogies to America.

Excellent comments! I couldn't agree more with everything you said! Money does NOT buy votes, and the majority of Angelenos are thoroughly FED UP with the arrogant, self-aggrandizing mayor!!!

However, my biggest fear is VOTER FRAUD! No one, but no one, is better at corruption than Villar!!!
It wouldn't surprise me at all if he was taking boat loads of absentee ballots to San Antonio!!!

HOW ARE WE GOING TO STOP VILLAR'S VOTER FRAUD???? THIS IS THE ONLY WAY HE CAN WIN!!!! I'M SURE HE IS PROBABLY USING THE LA RAZA ARMY TO REGISTER ILLEGAL ALIENS OVER AND OVER AND OVER!

I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THEY HAVE BEEN CANVASSING SOUTH CENTRAL FOR 3 YEARS NOW. THEY WAIT AT BUS STOPS, MARKETS, SHOPS, BARBER SHOPS, EVERYWHERE....THEY GET PAID $1.00/PER REGISTRATION.

BUT ABSENTEE BALLOTS ARE THE TRICK! THEY ARE COERCING EVERYONE TO DO ABSENTEE...OVER AND OVER AND OVER!

WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING NOW...BEFORE NEXT MARCH!!!

10:41am is such an ignorant twizzler, thinking that because you're from somewhere geographically, you must look like something physically.

Or is 10:41am such a twizzler that he or she didn't read that I was REPLYING to someone's post which said that I "don't look like a Fin."

Maybe, just maybe, you'd not look like such a dope if you had better reading comprehension.

And here a post-script for you, penis breath, I was born there, and have dual citizenship. Why? Because MY skills are needed in the U.S.

Go back to your grill and start cooking my lunch.

And, you're putting money in Mr. Higby's pocket at the same time! You will always be working class and building others' wealth.
