The Democrats' Double Standard

Prior to the McCain-Obama Presidential debate, Republican Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin was at home hanging with a crowd at a sports bar in Philadelphia. Yet Joe Biden, in trying to burnish his "Hometown Joe" image, invites Palin to join with him and the working class at a diner in Delaware that shuttered itself over 20 years ago. Had Palin made the same gaffe, we'd never hear the end of how she's out of touch and stupid.

Barack Obama has a gaffe attack and says the government invented the computer. He gets a pass for that from the drive-bys yet if John McCain made the same mistake, liberals would be calling him senile and erratic.

Joe Biden makes stupid comments about the East Indian community in his state. Well that was just a joke. Yet John McCain refers to Barack Obama as "that one" and he's a racist.

Deep thinker Matt Damon lies that Sarah Palin believes that dinosaurs existed just 4,000 years ago. A no less liberal source than CNN proved this is not Palin's position. (the whole story was made up by a blogger, imagine that). Yet Barack Obama says the US has 57 states and gets a pass.

Joe Biden says that FDR went on television right after the stock market crash in 1929, yet neither was FDR president yet nor had television gone beyond the walls of a few high tech labs.

Barack Obama's smug "Fight The Smears" website says that Obama had not worked with the controversial leftist organization ACORN - which is currrently facing allegations of voter fraud in several states - yet the record shows that Obama worked with ACORN as a trainer and represented them as an attorney. At the same time, Obama has paid an auxliary organizaton of ACORN several hundred thousand dollars for campaign services.

The Democrats lies, hypocrisy are bad. What's worse is the mainstream meadia covering for them. For sure Republicans are guilty of the same thing, most notably President Bush. However the Republicans don't have the benefit of the drive-by media to assist them in their efforts. Lets hope the American people see through ALL the smoke and are smart enough to know the difference.

This kind of reminds me of a short story I once read by Garrison Keillor called "The Last Seven Smokers in America."

The whole GOP except Higby and SnafuLA are pointing the fingers not at Obama but at the lunacy of McCain.

Higby:

You and I both know that this campaign is not going to be won or lost on gaffes.

We're talking about a double-digit lead for Obama now.

You need something much bigger than thigh-slappers.

People make fun of Sarah Palin for being inexperienced, simple-minded, uneducated about national and international affairs, sounding like a character from "Fargo," and being in way over her head, because in fact she is.

Everyone, including the McCain campaign and all Republican strategists say that the campaign is in trouble.

I don't know of one who would predict victory if the election were held today.

So what, Mr. Higby and others, would you advise McCain to do differently?

When a horribly flawed Bubbah (with massive personal baggage), named Bill Clinton first ran for president, the Dems told us "character doesn't matter" - just so long as our boy agrees with whatever our pet liberal issues of the moment happen to be.

And what followed was a massive national embarrassment, a raw trashing of the concept of personal morality and responsibility, and a fake "prosperity" that disappeared with a puff of smoke the day the Internet stocks tanked.

Now, they're telling us "associations don't matter" and "judgment doesn't matter" and "lack of experience doesn't matter" (except with female VP candidates).

Lord help us as to what's next up. A free-spending, socialist, happy-to-tax liberal at the reins during a financial downturn?

This time it won't just be the U.S. that pays for the all "it don't matter" lies. It'll be the entire world economy.

It will matter, but after Nov. 4it'll be too late to keep the Titanic from hitting the iceberg.

There is no "double" standard with Democrats.

There's only the "win at all costs" standard. Win at the cost of national security. Win at the cost of financial ruin. Win at the cost of losing wars - present and future.

Just WIN damn it.

The upside of all this will be when Obama finds out he can't really enact everything his radical heart desires. No liberal Democrat has ever been able to in office - not even with a left-leaning Senate. He won't have the money, the support, or the stomach for the fight.

And then, his next "enemy" camp will be made up of his most ardent supporters, now, who feel he failed to keep his irresponsible and pompous promises.
