Joe Biden is a Cheap Bastard

A few weeks ago it was reported that out of his 2007 adjusted gross income of $319,853, Senator Joe "Big Mouth" Biden only claimed charitable contributions of $995 or .003% of his annual income.

Today Governor Sarah Palin and her husband Todd released their income tax returns. In 2007, the Palins had gross income of $166,080 and made charitable donations totaling $3,325 or about 2% of their income.

Say it ain't so Joe, isn't contributing to worthy causes another form of patriotism? Don't be so freakin' cheap!

Check your math, it's .3% of his gross, not .003%.

I'm sure Biden would be willing to donate more if patriot John McCain set an example and donated his houses to the victims of the financial crisis he helped create.

Hey Mike, give the guy a break. He has been earning hundreds of thousands a year from his Senate job and has virtually no investment income (interest, dividends, partnership investments) to show for it so how can he give a few bucks to charity? This is the guy who tells us it is "patriotic" to pay income taxes and has a personal worth of almost nothing. And he want to be 2nd in command of the largest economy in the world. If he loses the election will it "count" when he dies?

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen (removes hat and bows low with flourish):

Sots, we have it on excellent authority that there was a reason that the Senator looked a little strange around the eyes last night during the debate. (Looks in mirror and checks facial area) That's because the man uses Botox to offer a more youthful appearance, and we all know that Botox, if you will, is not cheap, savvy?

I dont care what you negative people say. Obama rescued my soul and cradled me in his loving arms. He helped me love myself again. He pulled me back from the edge of the cliff when I was about to jump. I pray for Obama and his beautiful family every night before sleep. Obama saved my life.

Higby should change the blog title from "Home of Los Angeles Politics" to something more approriate.

"Spinning for the Palin/McCain"

"YouTube for Dummies"

"The home of blog hits"

Additional entries welcome.

I'm still waiting for a post from Higby which actually deatils Palin and McCains plans for ending the Iraq War, lowering the national defecit, decreasing unemployment or any real issue.

But a fool like Higby can only spin, spin, spin is Higby on the third floor?

Exceeeding public expectations, Palin did not break down and cry during the debate ... she waited until afterwards.

During an interview on the very friendly Fox News, Palin complained about how that nasty Katie Couric treated her.

Rather than let her spout talking points about Obama, Couric ambushed her with questions about what kind of a person and candidate she is, such as asking her to name the newspapers she reads.

Certainly, no one in the media would be this rough with her if she were elected.

Too bad her index cards didn't provide her with an answer to this question.

In case you missed, here's David Letterman's Top Ten list Things Overheard at Palin Debate Camp:

10. "Let's practice your bewildered silence."

9. "Can you try saying 'yes' instead of 'you betcha'?"

8. "Hey, I can see Mexico from here!"

7. "Maybe we'll get lucky and there won't be any questions about Iraq, taxes or healthcare."

6. "We're screwed!"

5. "Can I just use that lipstick-pit bull thing again?"

4. "We have to wrap it up for the day -- McCain eats dinner at 4:30."

3. "Can we get Congress to bail us out of this debate?"

2. "John Edwards wants to know if you'd like some private tutoring in his van."

1. "Any way we can just get Tina Fey to do it?"

A certain sign of desperation:

Obama is outspending McCain 2:1 on TV spots despite McCain's heavy support from the lobbyists and fat cats.

100% of McCain's spots are now negative ads, eliminating that as one of the reforms he'll bring to Washington.

Only about half of Obama's ads are negative. Is he being naive?

During the debate, Palin said that she fought for Alaska to prohbit its $40 billion investment fund from connections with the Sudan.

According to ABC News, the Democratic and Republican state representatives who co-sponsored the bill said that isn't true. In fact, Palin's administration defeated the bill.

"Famous Person" supports Palin. See this online ad. If the quote really belongs to Peggy Noonan, and wasn't just made up while someone was found to attach their name to it, why wasn't the name inserted in the original text?

Joe thinks its patriotic when the government takes your money by force, not when you donate of your own free will to charity.

Giving charity is a moral act.
Taxation is just theft.

Intrade.com investors show McCain dropping like a rock with just a 32.8% to win, compared to Obama's 67%.

So if you REALLY believe that McCain will win, you can make yourself lots of money if you're willing to put your money where your spin is.

All of the online sports books had Obama as a strong favorite.

vegas-sportsbetting.com has Obama at -190 and McCain at +145.

That means you have to bet $190 on Obama to make $100.
If you want McCain, you bet $100 and make $145 if he wins.

My plan is the same as that of McCain-Palin: the war is ended by becoming victorious.

Throughout history, the side that defeats an enemy does so by use of force. Never in history has the winning side declared victory by talking the losing side to death. The United States didn't win its independence by talking the British to death. The Allies, during WWII, didn't win by talking the Axis to death either.

4:40, you need to retake your history classes with this thought in mind: "Those who do not learn from the mistakes of history are doomed to repeat them." Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither did it fall in a day. Rome became strong because its people understood teamwork made strength, and it fell because its people became morally and physically lax.

Ever since Higby said we should stay in Iraq until the mission is accomplished, he has never explained how we will know when the mission will be accomplished or even what the mission is.
