Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Tuesday

Ron Kaye started the revolution Monday with an event that was everything from high energy to attracting some of the usual crazies. However, it was enough to rankle the rankled as we saw the spinners in action here before the event even began. Depending on who was spinning, attendance numbers ranged from a dozen to 300. I'll go with Joseph Mailander's count of 175 as probably the most accurate sounding. Kaye captures some of the media coverage of the event. Most notable absence: Mayoral candidate Walter Moore who held his own rally a few weeks ago in Northridge. Oddest appearance: Councilmember Dennis Zine holding a large shield emblazoned with a giant letter Z.

Rick Orlov reports that the transit tax scam has a full set of tricky hurdles it must clear before it can even get on the November ballot, the least of which is San Gabriel Valley based legislators who don't see that the tax will help transit projects in their area. The most honest observation by Orlov about the tax is that if it does make the ballot "the tax measure will give (Mayor) Villaraigosa a chance to launch yet another campaign for which he can raise money." Yes, bingo, you have found the answer. In the meantime LA County Supervisor Mike Antonovich and other area pols are seeking to hold onto funding to expand the Metro Gold Line which is breaking ridership records left and right. What did Tom LeBong take away from his junket to Europe? That LA needs more bicyclists! Great tell your boy Bill Rosendahl to stop messing with the bike riders and do as Steve Hymon suggests and get the MTA to install some more bike lockers at the North Hollywood MTA station in your District (LeBong you do know that NoHo is in your District don't you?).

Hollywood Boulevard is working hard to re-make itself into a pedestrian oriented urban landscape but two more people were killed crossing the famous street as LAPD officers were chasing a suspect. LAist reports that Despite promises two years ago from Councilmember Eric Garcetti to change the roadway to a "pedestrian priority classification," Hollywood Blvd is still classified as a major highway.

With shadowy intrigue and allusions to corrupt former Orange County Sheriff Mike Carona, Zuma Dogg posts (at risk to his own safety he says) that Federal Agents are allegedly in the process of conducting an investigaton that may find Mayor Villaraigosa doing 25 to life in Federal prison. It involves a long rumored story about "bodies" buried under a grocery store and the tale of a local businessman who could have more than 100 potential counts against him. Stay tuned.

And finally, former professional wrestler and Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura says he's not planning to run for Senate from the Land of 10,000 Lakes. However never say never as Jesse has until Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. to file. Were he to run, Ventura would join a race against current Republican incumbent Norm Coleman and former Saturday Night Live comedian Al Franken, the Democratic nominee.

Is the proposed transit tax a scam because you don't like taxes, you don't like what it would be spent on, or just because you say so but can't be bothered to explain yourself?

Talk about spinning, I can't stand this idiot. The people were out there because of the dumb shit Mayor.

....Meanwhile, Matt Szabo, a spokesman for Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, said he was encouraged that participants mentioned schools and public safety. "It's good to see so many people supporting the centerpiece of the mayor's agenda," said Szabo.

THEY WEREN'T SUPPORTING ANYTHING FROM THE FAILURES OF OUR MAYOR. MATT YOU'RE A PUSSY FOR ANTONIO

Mayor Sam I didn't see this posted. How can Huizar do this? Damn those kids are going to make good money. On Zuma's blog

...CM Jose Huizar to spend $200,000 for 12 Kids To Canvas Boyle Heights Regarding Broadway District Project
Perhaps ZD was overly medicated today, because this sounds so outrageous, I must be wrong, because no one could be so arrogant and stupid to try something like this; but did I just hear Los Angeles City Councilmember Jose "Wyvernwood" Huizar say that he was going to spend $200,000 of City taxpayer money for 12 kids to canvas the Boyle Heights neighborhood for feedback about his new Broadway District development project? All part of the "youth development" program. I can think of 200,000 better ways to spend that money during this economic crisis.

Matt Szabo definitely deserves a punch in the nose more than anyone in the city.

Not that anyone should act on it.

He is simply a scourge. A pox.

I would love to have come to Ron's rally. Unlike career politicians, however, I actually do work for a living. I had to fly to Maryland for a hearing. That's where I am now, waiting at the airport to return to L.A. I plan to come to Ron's next rally, which he has scheduled for August 2.

Douches and Douche-ettes

Congrats on the self-important and self-congratulatory circle-jerk jack-###.
Once you gad-nats realize you have nuthin' in common you will turn your hate and vitriol on each other. I would pay to see that from my 3rd floor City Hall office. Oh yeah, I forgot, you are gonna kick me out. NOT!!

Let's see, paranoid white "get off my lawners" co-mingling with Raza luvers. This is a recipe for disaster, and fun for those of us who think you are worthless, which you are.

This is also great because once people hear about what you are about, which is nothing more that a whiney load of uneducated puke and bile eaters like Higby and his JC that educated buffett pants wearing loser, you will all be exposed as the losers you are.

Plus, you got Zumma Nut - already a politician playing all sides. One day he hates neighborhood councils and wants to disband them, next day he is the savior. Hey 5150, beg for change somewhere else MEDIA-HO.

One last thing, Hey Valley Twat you should be investigated for child abuse by protective services for exposing your daughter to these pedo-valley-losers.

Too bad there aren't more Latinos like Jesus Sanchez, the editor of the Times LA Now online section, who's being laid off along with the others -- per a report in today's Times.

I agree with the comment by Gustavo Arellano, that Jesus as a native-born Latino who cared for the whole city and all its people, without any ethno- centric bias, is exactly the kind who should NOT be laid off and should be a role model for today's crop of young Latinos.

He's just like the rest of us, whose families are Polish-American or Danish-American or whatever, but we don't go around with La Raza for Danes or Poles above and beyond the city as a whole -- we know, that's the way to ruin, as we've seen.

Shame that our Councilmembers and Mayor couldn't hire Jesus Sanchez and learn from him -- THAT kind of Latino can overcome a lot of mutual mistrust.

Adios, Jesus! (Check with the Mayor's office for a communications job!)

What is Developer Robert Bisno (Ponte Vista) getting in return for his generous donations to City of Los Angeles politicians?

It appears Bisno paid Lobbyists, including former Councilmember Rudy Svorinich who turned lobbyist, $270,000.00. Svorinich has contributed $354,369.92 to L.A. politicians between 2005 and 2007. Another paid lobbying firm, Irell & Manella LLP, has contributed $116,063.00 during the same time period. Bisno also contributed $20,000.00 in support of Proposition R, TERM EXTENSION for Los Angeles Councilmembers in 2006.

This is a total of $760,432.92 and does not include the public relations firm, Tom Tomlin & Associates, or the additional lobbying firms, Christensen, Glaser, Fink, Jacobs, Weil & Shapiro, LLP, Ek & Ek, Psomas, and Afriat Consulting Group Inc, that have or are contemplating future contributions.

5:48- great to see the city selected such an open-minded and fine, respectful employee to handle city business. A fine expenditure of funds on one who likely mirrors the qualities of the person who hired him- hmm.

Maybe next time they could put some work into finding someone able to express opinions without including the personal ignorance, hate and general lack of intelligence alleged of others by his own remarks.
