Villaraigosa Wasn't but Jose Huizar WAS a Shoeshine Boy!
Maybe Rush Limbaugh got it wrong about the Mayor, but according to this video Councilman Jose Huizar helped pull himself up by his bootstraps by joining his brothers in a shoe shine enterprise.

On stage with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Councilman Jose Huizar were the Bringing Back Broadway Trustees, a group of roughly two dozen local stakeholders assembled to guide the new organization. The Mayor and Councilmember expressed their deep love for Broadway and their connection to the street as a child. Huizar recalled watching Bruce Lee films, while Villaraigosa hearkened back to shining shoes outside Broadway department stores.
Does anyone know where the $40 million to revitalize downtown Broadway is coming from? Where will all those illegal vendors go because you know if they're spending money to make the place nicer they won't want the vendors around just like near LA Live. The theaters downtown LA are gorgeous and the bathrooms are made of amazing marble and huge. They should really rennovate them.

Huizee is the biggest example of unfair affirmative action which keeps out poor whites and gives their slots to dumb minorities. And the Ivy essay readers LOVE this kind of bio, poor immigrant son of illegal parents, shines shoes in cheap illegal Mexican district to make ends meet and help out the huge family, give the kid a scholarship and let his head swell to dangerous proportions.
One good thing Obama says, though he wouldn't do it and couldn't even if elected, is to give poor whites the same standing in affirmative action -- they have a battle against the ignorance of their own families to rise up, people who think reading for "fun" is a waste of time, don't get too smart or you'll realize your parents are dumb and stay down on the farm or in the mines, be a good local boy.

Read Steven Morris' new article in the L A Weekly, about how these Mexicans want to shove low-income, subsidized high-density projects with no parking all over the city, from Boyle Heights (where they belond) to Hancock Park, Westwood and West L A, Sherman Oaks and Encino, everywhere.

Morris is appalled that these sites are being determined by special interests with no NC input, even notification and can go anywhere within 1500 feet -- 3 blocks -- of just a bus stop. As though that means their residents won't drive and park cars on already congested streets.

These .50 cent stores MUST be shoved out in order for any real change to be made. And there is FAR too much ancient office space that needs to be converted.

Who needs you on Broadway? Broadway is one of the highest grossing retail centers in So Cal so stay out in the Valley.

Huizee has gotten fat and looks even more like a Mexican peasant who could be shining your shoes. As for Rush's thinking A was either secret service OR a shoeshine boy, it sounds like as much to do with his big, obsequious grin and dandy suit -- real East Coast upper class or wealthy aren't so phony, don't try so hard, they're more natural.
For L A's image to go from surfing and blondes, although never fully accurate, to have become a city of short, dark Indian-Mexicans at all levels, from the streets to markets where the stock clerks don't speak English and can't help customers, to watching virtually every commissioner at City Hall or from the heads of the School Board/ Monica, to CRA, etc., is unnerving to those of us who remmeber the 70's. People started going to Manhattan Beach etc, long ago, which are crowded but "American."
Huizar has a lot to be proud of. He has come a long way which was very difficult.
But his education comes at others kids expense. And, it is very disappointing that he was a member of the school board and is only proud of building new buildings. What happened to trying to get kids to graduate and stay in school. LAUSD is still only at a 50% graduation rate.
He also is like most council people and doesn't do the work that needs to be done in their district. They are only good at doing something if their staff is good. Let's get real. They do not do any work, only their staff does or doesn't. All these councilpeople do is show up at meetings.
Huizar would never fit in with the upper class East Coast people and West coast for that matter.
Who cares if he went to Ivy league schools! Who cares if he came up from poverty as a Mexican immigrant and was too poor to have shoes when he was an undergraduate at CAL! This is total BS!!! Where was the priest? I am positive the local community priest who knew Huizar so well could have found a pair of shoes for him some where in Boyle Heights, East Los Angeles, Roger Mahony, or collected donation at mass to buy shoes for poor poor Huizar. This is so comical and way out there that how in God's name did he think of such a thing to say? Why? "My father was in the process of buying a car and loaned me the $$$$?" Give us all a break! DAAAAA! Jose, it would have been better if you said the Pope sent you a pair of shoes.
The real clincher is Jose Huizar was a shoe shine boy at the drug dealing dump called Mercado in Boyle Heights. If anyone intelligent knows that place is mafia owned and operated
by thugs. Prostitutes, drugs, and underground markets of bad things. They say the owner Pedro Rosado has been shot at a bunch of times and is missing a several fingers for doing bad business. Rosado is a Mexican Jew from Yucatan, Mexico and he lives in Arcadia. His wife and daughter donated campaign $$$$$$ to Jose Huizar and other crooked politicians in the past. Richard Alatorre was/is known for buying his contra-band there and Art Snyder the alleged child molester is actully considered the silent owner. Bad place to eat. Dirty and filled with cockroaches and rat dung.
Bottom line... people with $$$$ or people born into $$$$ are two different classes to begin with. Upper East Coast and West Coast folks would never consider Huizar one of them. Never... Again Jose Huizar will never fit in with the upper class no matter what he is or does.

All of his involvement in LAUSD as an elected member and President was to secure contracts and make deals with contracts and developers for future political aspirations he had up his sleeve.
Huizar is not that intelligent. He was primmed and propped by old dirty $$$. Huizar was nurtured, weened, and molded by Richard Riordan. He is Dick's boy. H20 Boy. Same with Antonio. You think Antonio Villaraigosa writes his speeches? (That's another story.)
These so called "Latino" politicians are the H20 Boys to the developers and landowners who wheel and deal in the city.
